Sara was welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly! She listened to what I was looking for and what I…read moredidn't like about previous services done at other salons. She had great recommendations and I couldn't be happier with the end result. My hair looks shiny, healthy and refreshed! I love the color and cut and felt so confident leaving the salon. I will definitely be back and can't recommend her enough!

I genuinely do not like leaving bad reviews, especially because I've been coming here for almost…read moretwo years, but today was quite literally my final straw. I've gone here consistently since moving to St. Louis for haircuts, root touch-ups, color, all of it. I also truly do not care who I'm assigned to. I'm not one of those clients who needs one specific stylist every single time. I just expect basic communication, decent service, and for my appointment to actually make sense when I arrive. Coordination! Unfortunately, the vibe here has always felt off The front desk is rarely welcoming. Half the time, no one greets you, acknowledges you, or makes you feel like they are happy you're there. The energy can feel very cliquey, dismissive, and honestly kind of performative. It gives "we're all a family here," but somehow the client is not included in the family. I've overlooked a lot because I liked the actual hair services. I've waited 30 minutes past my appointment time before. I've had appointments moved around. One time, I was sent to the Webster Groves location, got there, and was then told I actually needed to go to Des Peres because they could not take me. Like...okay gas?? But today was what officially did it for me. I booked a root touch-up before a photo shoot tomorrow and a trip next week. I sent pictures and a description of what I wanted directly to the stylist beforehand. I've also had this exact type of service done through this salon multiple times, usually for around $250, so this was not some random mystery appointment. I arrived and waited around 30 minutes to be assisted, only to then be told it would cost over $400. And to be very clear, I am not asking anyone to lower their prices, undervalue their work, or change their hourly rate for me. Charge whatever you charge. That is fully your business. My issue is: why was none of this communicated nor coordinated before I showed up? You had my appointment details. You had the pictures. You had my description. You had my client history from the past two years. If the service was now going to cost almost twice what I normally paid, or if I had supposedly booked the wrong category, somebody should have figured that out before I arrived, waited 30 minutes, and left with absolutely nothing done. Even the stylist seemed surprised by how I had apparently been charged or categorized during previous appointments, which honestly just made the whole situation feel even more disorganized. That is an internal coordination issue, not something that should suddenly become the client's emergency while they are sitting in the chair So now I have a photo shoot tomorrow, a trip next week, and no hair did or done because this salon could not communicate beforehand. After nearly two years of being a loyal client, I'm done overlooking the rude front desk energy, the scheduling confusion, the long waits, and the constant lack of coordination. The actual talent may be there, but the overall experience is not. I will not be coming back. Respectfully, the vibes are not worth $400+.

My fabulous hair stylist (Cate) moved her clientele over here to Jonathan's shortly after hair…read moresalons re-opened at the beginning of this damn pandemic. I am so glad that she did. I love the smaller salon feeling that Jonathan's has, while still offering all the amenities of a larger salon. When the hair salons reopened, the salon Cate was originally working, really wasn't following the recommendations of the CDC and St Louis County guidelines. She wanted a safe place to work and a safe place for her clients to return too. So, she found Jonathan's. Let me repeat, I am so glad that she did. First off, I love how she cuts my hair. I prefer scissor cuts to a clipper with a snap comb attached, which so many use for a mans hair-cut. She takes the time to totally scissor my hair and only uses a clipper to trim up my neckline. We've had a professional relationship/friendship going on 15 years. Now, why I am so glad she moved. Jonathan's is really protective of their staff and clients. When you arrive, outside they have a table where you are required to spray the bottoms of your shoes with a sanitizer. Once you enter, if you don't have your own personal mask, they'll provide you one. They also, provide gloves for the clients to wear while in the salon. In addition to these protective measures, they sanitize the chairs and workstations in between each client. I feel totally safe! A bonus of coming here, is the other staff members. I just adore, Queen. She makes me smile every time I visit. Will I return? - Every 6 weeks, like clock work. When: Most recently, September 23, 2020 Why: Hair-Cut

She knows exactly the shape and color I'm looking for, and you couldn't ask for a sweeter stylist. I also just reminded myself to book an appointment for when I'm back in September! For evidence, check out my profile picture, which was taken immediately after an appointment with Kate!

She listened to exactly what we each wanted, and everyone was so happy with their results. She did a trial of my hair a few months out which was great and allowed me to not worry when it came to the big day. She also had a wonderful waiting area in her salon where we could hang out while the other person was getting their hair done and she provided us with some snacks and mimosas which was really going above and beyond. She got all of us in and out in about 2 hours which is just what we had planned, causing no delays in our getting ready schedule. Jaclyn was so wonderful and I absolutely recommend her for your wedding hair needs!

Once I was in the room I was left in there for about 7 minutes to change, it doesn't take 7 minutes to change and I thought I was left. Jacqulyn is really sweet and was professional about the wax. She used a combo of soft and hard wax, which is different from one of the reviews I read on here said that she only used hard wax. I was disappointed that she used a combo and would much rather prefer hard wax. Overall, the service was not great, but the actual waxing was fine once it was done. I probably wouldn't come back here unless I had a deal like the one I did.
