My friend & I went to Key to dye our hair. She said she could do both of us but we needed to buy our own color. We purchased our own color from a beauty supply store then she started my friends hair then said that she couldn't do mine. I believe that she just wanted to being one of our hair then tell us she couldn't do the other just to lock one of us in to paying $200 so she'd get that amount minimum. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! My children went here before and were charged around $40. My husband took them there most recently and although based off their website I should have been charged around $60 for both of my daughters, I was charged $212 for two girls! Mind you I went to a different salon with my much longer and thicker adult-sized head and was only charged $45. They're also racist claiming because of the texture of their hair, they had to charge extra, so I hope they're giving discounts to those with naturally straight hair. Go somewhere else! I usually go here for my quick haircut. It's cheaper than most places. $33 with a wash or no drying or styling in any form. I expected that and went to Zarina who cut my hair before. I told her exactly what I wanted. A blunt straight cut at the back. Finished the haircut and couldn't tell what it looked like since it was very wet when I left. Got home and realized that she had cut layers all around! When she was cutting my hair she told me that I should get layers since it will better for hair that tangles. I told her I don't like layers since it's harder to manage. I wouldnt have expected her to give me something I specifically didn't ask for. My hair looks choppy and with the holidays coming up I'm dreading styling it. I don't even think it can be fixed without cutting it even more. It'll just have to grow out. It's very frustrating when you ask for something that you know you want and you get something else. Came to get a quote with an appointment with the intentions of getting my hair done. When I arrive they quoted me double what my friend had paid to get the same treatment and her hair was double the length of mine. They call some sort of supervisor only to have her roll her eyes at the hair stylist that was helping me out because I said something about the price quote. Grabbed my stuff and left when I had clearly seen the attitude and unprofessionalism of someone who is supposed to be a leader through the mirror. Bait and Switch! I took my 2 teens in for a haircut. Then when I went to pay the bill the 2 haircuts cost $128! One of the stylists said because they have long hair and got a "deluxe blow dry." I DID NOT ask for that, nor was I ever asked if they could do that service. The stylist said she asked my daughter and she said yes. Obviously I am the one paying for the two because they asked me when I came in if I was paying for them together. Absolutely Terrible experience. I brought my daughter (age 9) in as a walk in. She was so excited for a haircut. 5 minute wait before they took her back to wash her hair. Meryane cut some hair then walked away... she was so overwhelmed that my poor daughter sat with wet hair after being washed... waiting. I joked that we should leave. The place was empty. The stylist ran around - checking people in and out, washing and blowing other clients hair etc- my daughter sat there. Finally she came to cut and didn't do what I had asked.. refusing to cut more.. Then I asked for a blow dry and she said NO "we are too busy". Excuse me? IT IS COLD IN MARCH. I've NEVER had a hairstylist not offer to dry my hair - much less REFUSE. When I expressed my concerns she said "you only asked for a cut" "next time get an appointment" "your daughter is fine" "there are too many people and we close soon" .... I AM LIVID. My poor girl was so disappointed. A Terrible cut. Terrible experience and I would rather have paid good money for a PROFESSIONAL than endure this again. I am so offended. From a male optic and one that has gone to this particular Hair Cuttery for a number of years. You will get a good hair cut however, Haircuttery will not stray from the typical style and what they want. Customer input is just pillow talk. Example: Everytime I explain what I want "don't touch to the top, just trim the sides". The reaction is the same (no matter the stylist) Yes.. and then they immediately snip a chunk off the top and usually say something to the effect of "is that long enough?" I am convinced this is Haircuttery tactic to lock you into their comfort level. To be fair, yes, you will get a good haircut and everyone is friendly and happy to be there. But don't go there if you want your way don't bother asking. You will leave frustrated and mad. Don't even look at the sea of haircut magazines or images of beautiful people with amazing hairstyles. read more

My experience here started off terribly. It was the worst experience I've ever had in 30+ years of getting my hair done. A stylist whose name is Twi, I think? (She's an older Asian woman with glasses), had no clue how to style my curly hair and managed to get it more knotted and tangled than it has ever been in my life. She then proceeded to repeatedly blame me despite the fact that she almost ruined my hair and that she caused all the knots !! I seriously thought all the knots she made would need to be cut out! My hair was a matted mess after her shampoo which was the opposite of relaxing--she scrubbed my scalp so hard with her nails, didn't comb through the conditioner, and repeatedly sprayed water in my face and on my clothes. She also washed my hair without a cape. Afterwards, in an attempt to undo her horrible mess, she kept pulling my hair and yanking at the knots with a fine tooth comb, causing my hair to fall out and STILL didn't remove the knots. (My neck and shoulder were sore for days afterwards.) I begged her to stop but she wouldn't! By this point, I was in tears and she continued to blame and hair shame me while hacking away at my hair. I was getting up to leave and contemplating shaving my head when luckily, two wonderful stylists were able to take over and turn my appointment around. They patiently detangled the knots the first stylist made which took over an hour to do with both of them working on it. They worked gently and methodically, reassuring me that they would fix it. I am so grateful that Almas and Key were there to rescue me from the first "stylist". Almas and Key are wonderful stylists who are not only great at what they do, but treat you like family. When I left, not only did my hair look great, but I felt like they really cared. It's difficult to find caring and patient stylists that go above and beyond to make their clients happy. I wasn't even their client, but they took it upon themselves to do everything they could to make sure that I left happy. They also comped the service. I am so impressed with the level of professionalism, customer service, and support I received from Almas and Key. 5 stars for Almas and Key but zero for the overall experience and for being treated so poorly by the other stylist. I'm not sure why or how "Twi" is still employed as other similar reviews exist on her performance, rudeness, and lack of skills. I get that it's Hair Cuttery and not some high-end salon, but a basic wash and blow dry should not result in the level of torture I experienced. read more

I will admit I was a little skeptical about going to the Cuttery as I don't have my natural hair but I just wanted it washed and curled and Dallas customer service me feel so comfortable. Rude while helping disabled elderly person. Took my stepmom here for a simple haircut. The bathroom had water all over the floor, so my stepmom needed some help. She's elderly and recently had surgery, so she needs a cane plus some help to walk. The wet floor caused a dangerous situation. While I was helping my stepmom, an employee was rude to us multiple times during the process, while I walked her to the bathroom and while I waited for her outside (I'm not going to just leave her alone when she might need help). Really rude to treat customers like that, let alone a handicapped customer in a situation like that. read more

I have been a customer at the Hair Cuttery Salon for about seven years. Though I now use only one stylist, Sokha (who is just wonderful), I have had experience with several of the stylists, and I have always been greeted with professionalism, friendliness, and courtesy. Now that one is able to make an appointment, it is even easier to use this salon; however, I also continue to use the "walk in" option when I am out and about. I recently bought another home in Delaware, but, because I routinely commute between Virginia and Delaware, I continue to use the Virginia salon, as they are so flexible and accommodating to my schedule. read more
