I've been coming to Old Town Nail & Spa on and off for a while, mostly because it's close by. Unfortunately, this was my last visit. I had an appointment but still waited about 30 minutes. There were only three workers, which I understand, but it was still frustrating to wait that long with an appointment. The pedicure also felt rushed. Usually you get lotion and a little massage, but none of that was included. At that point I just wanted to get my nails done and leave. For my manicure, the technician used a portable UV lamp that made my nails burn. It was really uncomfortable, and he didn't seem concerned when I mentioned it. I got a French tip, and you could clearly see my nail beds through the polish. When I told him I wasn't happy with how it looked, he just said it was my natural nail instead of trying to fix it. The most disappointing part was the quality. I tipped, left, and in less than 24 hours my thumbnail had already chipped. That has never happened to me before not even when I do my own nails at home. I ended up going to a nail salon in South Carolina, and they immediately told me the nails weren't done well and that they wouldn't last. They also added a better nude base color so you couldn't see my nail beds anymore, which made a huge difference. That showed me that my nails could have been done correctly at Old Town Nail & Spa, but they simply weren't. They also told me more chipping was likely to happen. I paid a lot of money because I wanted my nails to look nice for a wedding that weekend, and instead I got poor-quality nails and disappointing customer service. i came in because it was one of the first salons suggested whenever i googled salons nearby. i came in and the lady in the front was nice and helpful, but then i sat down for the pedicure and a younger girl started preparing it. it was evident she's new, and was getting guidance from the lady that was in the front. but then after the first minute or so she didn't get any more help. she was moving very slow, and that makes sense if she's super new. but also... she should have consistent supervision. another customer walked in 5-10 minutes after she started my pedicure and asked for a mani/pedi... by the time she was getting her toes painted my tech JUST started the massage. it was 50 minutes in by then. two other technicians walked by multiple times. looked and saw how long it was all taking and didn't say a word. they went to the back and started laughing a bunch. the front desk lady left the building at this point. i had to direct the girl and tell her what needed to be done. my leg and foot massage was only about 70-90 seconds long (the main reason i even get pedicures). ultimately a huge waste of $55+ also i asked her to make my nails short and flat.... she made them round. when i pointed it out she goes "but you said to make them short?" and proceeded putting clear polish on. finally... painted with the white polish getting it all over the skin. tried taking it off the skin with a brush but it was on too long. then started putting the top coat on. I walked in here once and when I was taken back to get my nails done, the tech kept asking if I wanting gel. I repeatedly told her " no, I do not want gel." After asking again, I said, " for the 5th time, no, I do not want gel." The entire place looked at me like I was the villian while this tech acted like a victim. I was soooo pleasantly surprised by my visit to Old Town Nails and Spa. I expected it to have a bit more of a stuck up atmosphere given its location. However, the vibe was chill and the employees were all super nice. The girl who did my nails was great! I didn't catch her name but I tipped via Venmo (bonus points for having that as an option, as I never carry cash) and saw her name as Thao. The items she used were labeled "MyMy" but again, not sure. Anyway, it's worth noting that I paid $71 for a gel mani and pedicure. However, all pedicures include callus removal, even the basic, so it's not too terrible. I asked the price for a fill mani and pedi and was told $38+$55 = $93 I was charged ***$153*** when leaving. MIND YOU I BROUGHT MY OWN POLISH. I moved here so I dont know if this is normal nickle and diming but I've never been charged more for the following: Trimming my nails ($10), $10 for gel on my nails (my own), $20 for nail art, she added a gem, and the pediure was an extra $15 for removing gel polish, $10 for not sure what else . I could not believe it was $153 for their most basic pedicure and a fill. I feel like I was just conned. I will never go back here. read more

The pedicure I had here was not bad. Not the best I've ever had, but you can't beat the price, especially for Old Town. Would come back. Plus, they have a wide menu of services so you can get pretty much anything done from laser hair removal to nails to lash tinting. read more

However in frequent times, they have treated me with disrespect and disregard for my time and business. I just now tried again and without any regard for my patronage, the lady looked up when she decided to acknowledge me and said without checking the appointment book once (though most nail places don't use them even when they do make appointments), she stated: "We don't have anything available." If I could give a 0 I would, I tried to get my almond nail shape fixed "which I already had dip nails" and the lady ruined my nails and proceed to said it was my fault for having ugly tacky nails. I have never felt so bad and embarrassed in my life. After I politely said its okey take them off because I didn't wanted to argue with her. Went in the other day for the first time for my friends' birthdays and it was a great experience! I got a French manicure and had a wonderful time. The interior is decorated so beautifully and the store is clean and well-lit. The French looks so pretty and the lines are so clean and crisp. They used this great mango lotion after we were done too and that was an extra level of attention that really added to our visit to Old Town Nails & Spa. I hate leaving negative feedback, but I'm disappointed. On Friday, I went to this shop for the first time with my husband. I came in for a gel pedicure and a dip manicure. The service was excellent and the staff are wonderful, but the gel polish on my big toe chipped the next day for no apparent reason. Then I noticed cracks in my nail polish, and today as I began typing on my keyboard, I noticed the polish chipping. I've had gel pedicures and dip powder manicures on and off for years, and this is the first time I've had this happen. read more

Not a great experience. The smell of chemicals is so strong when you walk in that I almost walked out. During my mani/pedi I noticed they were about to reuse a pumice sponge and I asked for a new one as I do not think it is hygienic to share with strangers. I politely said "I do not want to use any tool that has been used by someone else." The technician pushed back but someone else who worked there brought one over and told me I was "lucky" they had a new one. Then my manicure was done at a high table where there is no place to put your feet and so my toes touched the tile a bit and the technician chastised me for "messing up" my pedicure. The setting was great, the service was attentive but the quality of "dip manicure" I got was terrible. I got my nails done on Thursday, by Friday one nail had already chipped. It's Sunday, two nails have chipped / peeled. I got dip nails because they typically last much longer but the nail tech used a GEL top coat.... not happy with the quality. This post will need an update because I do plan to return. My first visit here was not the best. I was here for almost four hours. I legit had to move my car and renew parking. The services I received were a full set and a pedicure. Tracy did my pedicure and she did a good job! I get gel on my toes and really had no issues with how my pedicure was done. Tracy then did my full set. I initially just wanted the fiberglass/acrylic that I have always gotten, but Tracy (I think, I know her name definitely started with a T) asked me if I wanted to try SNS. So I said sure. She did my set and long story short, the SNS was not applied well. My nails were not smooth. She didn't buff them well, IMO. I also had significant issues with the clear coat that she put over my nails. They weren't drying properly, they didn't look nice and clear. Me not wanting to be difficult, and being close to my car parking expiring, I left the nail shop. I got to my car, sat down and started to think. I paid over $115 for both of the services. There is no way I should be walking out unsatisfied!!! So I went back in and told them the issues with my nails. While I thought they were just going to have someone buff and re-shape my nails, they completely soaked them off and had another lady (Karin) start my nail process all over again. Night and day difference. Karin did everything I've ever seen nail technicians do when it comes to buffing and shaping nails. I asked her why her colleague had done something different, she said something alone the lines of different people have different methods. Now, that soak off and redo took another hour and a half, hour and forty-five minutes, but I left out the shop actually happy with the results. What I appreciate about this shop is the fact that rather than disregard my satisfaction, they worked with me and made sure they fixed the problem. That is ultimately what will bring me back. I can't say I will experiment with SNS again, but I will definitely go back for a pedicure. read more

They were the only nail salon in the area open later on the 4th of July so I drove straight there after I hung up the phone! Ive passed this place many times since its right on King St. It doesnt look like much on the outside and you cant help but notice the interesting decor from the street so I didn't expect a whole lot. To my surprise, I had a good experience here. Sanitation was good as I watched them place a new liner inside the pedicure bowl for each new customer. Lilly did my pedi and nail polish change. She is a total sweetheart. I am a tough person to please when it comes to my mani/pedi's but she was thorough and detailed. Her communication was good and I noticed the same from everyone else working there that evening. My complaint was that I found it a bit pricey. A polish change cost $12 which is the same price as a manicure. The regular pedi ($33) and polish change came to $45. They also have an all-white themed decor which does not work well for any business unless you never want your place to look clean. I would come back while in the area but will definitely choose a regular manicure instead of their expensive polish change. read more

I was happy to find Old Town Nails and Spa on Yelp while I was in the area. I called to confirm they took walk ins before I made my way over. They do, and they took my name and said they could take me for a pedicure. I arrived a tad later than I had anticipated due to traffic, but I was immediately tended to upon arrival. The salon was decent sized and clean. They had modern decor, and college basketball was on tv! The technicians were very nice and professional. I dont live in Old Town, but I was expecting higher prices from a salon right on King Street, but that was not the case. Their prices were on par with any other salon I've been to. I really appreciated that they didnt try to upsell me to a fancier treatment than I'd requested. My toes and I are quite pleased and would be happy to return! My friend and I came by shortly after opening on a weekday morning and were able to get manicures without a wait. Manicure quality: pretty goodgel manicure with even color and very few bubbles. Plenty of color choices as well. They even have more colors along the walls behind where they do your nails. Price: on par with other salons in the area. Location: on king street in old town with plenty of metered street parking in front of the salon. The parallel side streets also have plenty of parking as well. Service: the woman who did my nails wad skilled but rude at times. I was here with a friend and we were laughing and talking. The technician asked me many times to sit still and got frustrated by my movement, even though my only movement was from laughter. I was confused by her frustration since my nails were well underway and looking ok. This won't stop me from coming back, but just something to think about. Pro tip: bring cash for a tip!
