I'm 24 years old now I have been to other places but this place I always come back to... they do it right !!! I'm never going to go to any other salon. The decor is beautiful. Very elegant and earthy. We use high quality stuff on your hair and you're able to buy the products there. Everyone there is very nice and friendly. They do all ethnic backgrounds and all hair types. I go to see Ann. She's extremely talented at what she does . She always does my hair as well as my moms hair. My mom said my hair looks nice and I had to just bring her here ... so happy I did ! After reading the reviews of this hair salon, I made an appointment to see Vincent. Having him cut my hair well seemed promising considering all the nice things people mentioned about him. To my surprise, even though 4:30pm was the only time available I could see him that day, I was the only customer there. I guess the salon had a bunch of no shows. I showed him a picture of the hairstyle I wanted. He was great at listening to what I want. I asked for short layers, shortest layers ending at my cheekbones. I also told him I want texture at the ends of my hair. The weird looking scissors he used to add extra texture to my hair is interesting. They look like three scissors bonded together. He used a lot of different cutting techniques that made me believe he is quite skilled at his job. He made my haircut look just like the picture. Finally a stylist who knows how to cut my hair to my liking! My haircut (no blow drying, no washing) is $25, which is a decent price for a haircut in my opinion. I really love the person who did my hair. She was nice. Now my hair has three different colors. Little orange, too white and black. I specified that I didn't wanted color in my roots specially the front side. I thought my hair looked good until my friend took my pictures in sunlight. I look old because of the color on my front part. I showed her one color which she suggested that might damage my hair which I was fine with. She showed me some other picture which was good also. My hair doesn't look like any of it. I hope the orange color fades away as suggested by my hair stylist. Holy mother of hair gods! I have found my oasis. Here's a little back story- I have had nothing but bad hair salon experiences. I grew up in the Bronx and in my neighborhood- all of the hair salon ladies only spoke Spanish. This put a major crimp (pun intended) in discussing styles or hair care. I mainly pointed to a picture and said give me that. Not much of an experience ever. I accepted this and just said hey- they get my hair stick straight right? But, what about that time she cut my hair too short... Or did my bangs all wrong... Or spoke on her phone the entire time... Ugh. And don't even get me started about sitting in silence for 2 hours because I couldn't talk with my stylist. Moving to Queens forced, well, lets say encouraged me to find a new hair salon- and que Hair Decor into my life... Tony is the bomb. If you don't read anymore of my review- make an appointment with him and experience the magic. I came in with a unique situation. In a time of boredom- I decided to dye my hair red. Cool huh? Except it was quite possibly the dumbest thing for me to do since my head shots all have my natural dirty blonde color. So I have a show next week, I'm going to meet some agents and my hair color is completely different than my photos. I needed an emergency fix asap. I asked my friends for their recommendations and Hair Decor came up. Of course with their great reviews I gave them a call. After being satisfied with the price quote, I went in the same day for a consultation. Tony told me what I already knew. I went too far on the color spectrum to just dye my hair back to my natural color. But he did offer to help tone down the red so that my hair would look more natural and closer to my head shot photo. Holy hell- what the... am I speaking... ENGLISH to my hair sylist?? What?? This is awesome!! Long story short- he offered to take me right away (which I'm sure doesn't always happen- the salon didn't look too busy at this time) and after just an hour- my hair is a beautiful dark brown. Success! Now not only did he do an amazing job- but he took the time to get to know me and even offered hair care tips that had nothing to do with buying anything from the salon. Who does that? I went to get my hair done by Vincent after reading the other reviews here on Yelp, and I was not disappointed. Vincent asked me what I wanted right away and I told him to do what he thought was best but that I wanted to keep my length. Before he started he told me what he thought would be best given my face shape and made sure that I was comfortable with his vision. During the cut, he was pleasant and a good conversationalist. Because my hair is curly, he gave me a cut that would work well for curly and straight hair. He even took the time to show me step-by-step what to do to style my curly hair and my straight hair. Overall, I was very pleased with my visit. I liked that the salon did not try to push product on me, did not say that I should dye my hair because I have a few grays, or that I should shell out hundreds of dollars to get a keratin treatment (like my previous salon). The prices were reasonable and I found Vincent to be extremely knowledgable. The salon was bright and well-kept also. The only negative I found was that parking can be a bit challenging, but other than that, I had a great experience. I will be back. read more

He is honest , careful, listens and mostly tries to meet you expectations beyond words can describe. I am a hairdresser as well so when i say i am super picky i am. First of all, I love their online appointment system that allows you to book your appointment and have it like, quadruple-confirmed once you've made it. Texts and emails up the wazoo! As a chronic worrier, I love it. Their sinks are so comfy -- instead of having the edge of a sink dig into the back of your neck for however long, it's a nice flat surface that you just kind of ease into. I saw Vincent for my haircut, and he was amazing. I barely started explaining what I wanted, and he knew exactly what I was going for. It was the fastest haircut I've ever received (especially considering it was a pretty dramatic change to my hair), and he was so nice and funny throughout. After he was done cutting, he showed me a couple of easy "cheat" ways to style my hair at its new length. I paid $50 (before tips) at a gorgeous, friendly salon for a nice wash, a perfect cut, and fun waves added to my stick-straight hair simply because Vincent wanted to -- not bad at all. I finally worked up the courage to do it so I went on Yelp to find a salon close to home that is reasonably priced. I found Hair Decor. I originally called in for a trim but was unable to get an appointment. I went else where to get a trim and two weeks later I called Hair Decor again to schedule an appointment for my bangs. I made an appointment with Erica and I was not disappointed! i arrived 15 minutes early just in case. I loved the decor and the atmosphere of the salon and I noticed that there were many different ethnic background getting their done which is a plus because that usually means the hair stylist can work with just about any hair! (Not that min is difficult mine is straight and easy to handle). Erica took me on time and which I loved, not that I mind waiting i am pretty patient person. I got a good and thorough wash and Erica blew my hair out beautifully. She made me feel comfortable by keeping good conversation and was very friendly, along with other stylists. When it came down to the time to cut my bangs I was nervous and she kept me leveled by assuring me it would look great. She was right I love the results. Vincent's pretty awesome, he always has some funny story and definitely has an opinion on how you should keep your hair. He's very concerned about how you like your hair afterwards. I had to wait an hr and a half once for my hair appt, they called me just as I was walking out but overall it was a nice cut. Nothing that would turn heads but neat and pretty. I also go for regular complementary bang trims, which is awesome! The only thing I didn't love was the fact I wanted to try shorter hair for the summer and he told me no. Definitely a hidden gem! I've been going to Vincent for over 10yrs now. I've got long curly hair (not too tight but definitely curly) and when he makes a suggestion for a new cut I take it. He knows how to work with my hair and he always listens. I like my hair long so he never tries to talk me into a bob or anything extreme that he knows I'd shoot down. And when he gives you a cut he makes sure that it suits you when your hair is natural or blown out. I think the prices are very reasonable. I mean if you wanted to pay $10 for a cut then hit supercuts or lemon tree for a regular jane doe cut and remember that you pay extra for quality and knowing that the sylist has your best interests in mind when he picks up those scissors. I got my hair cut and styled by Ann. She listened to what I wanted and explained what she thought would or would not work. She was honest and skilled-the two most important talents that a hairdresser should possess. She did a bomb ass job fading in my overgrown undercut & giving me a sweet new "lob"....all $45! The place is conveniently located on Queens Blvd, and they immediately took me in after setting up an appointment the day before with Tony. I was impressed with everything from start to finish- from the hair wash to Tony's magical skills of fixing my hair, and of course the overall look. I was worried initially because I was going for a short hair look, cutting off almost 6 inches of my hair, but Tony did a phenomenal job and would highly recommend him! I recently had my hair bleached in Korea and it damaged my hair immensely. The owners recommended a botox treatment (not an injection) to restore softness and strength in my hair follicles. About two weeks ago, I walk to to Hair Decor to see a hair stylist named Erica. I spent time her exactly what I wanted ( and of course I know hair can react differently so there's always room for some error). I specifically said I despise red hair and streaky hair. I showed her exactly what I wanted and attempted to have a discussion with her. She told me she understands and not to worry. By the time she finished with my hair, I looked like Chucky from the roots and the entire bottom half of my hair was a total of 5 different colors: red, black, blonde, brown, and grey. While I was STILL in her chair, she herself mentioned my hair is red but when I asked her to tone it seeing as I was going away in a few days, she told me the red will magically change color to a brown. She then rushed me out and the salon.So I waited two days and this magic did not happen. I called the salon and they told me a stylist named Anne will help fix it free of charge. I drive another hour back to Rego Park (where btw there is absolutely no parking), and Anne sees me and gives me a temporary color melt and told me to come back after my vacation and she will fully fix my hair free of any charge. And she did make it look decent! So now I'm back for a third time (driving hours to get there for all these mediocre attempts at doing hair) and Anne seems like she's in a bad mood to begin with. But she tells me not to worry, she'll fix my hair and I should trust her. I once again told her I dislike streaks and to please make any hair solid colors. As she's drying my hair, she asks if I like it (I was quiet the whole time I was there - I didn't say one rude or negative thing). I said the top is a bit streaky BUT I didn't ask her to fix it again. She made a huge face at me and so I asked her if she was upset and about what she was upset about. She decides to go off about how it's "annoying" to do my hair and how she's not the original stylist who messed up my hair but she's doing a favor. She called me annoying thrice all because her hands were hurting. Not only this, she previously showed her inability to be professional by going on and on about the politics of the hair salon and how she doesn't understand the ownership split with contractual hairstylists who also work there. The first time she did my hair, she was very kind...I'm not quite sure what happened this time. All in all, the mediocrity of the stylists, and especially the rudeness I encountered , along with the area this salon is situated in leaves my review with one star. The way I was spoken to made me extremely upset. I'm not quite sure how you can call a customer annoying especially one who paid and tipped $$$. Unacceptable. read more
