This was my first time coming here, and I chose to be serviced by Minja based on reviews. My previous hairdresser is the best in town, but she and I had a disagreement, so I decided to test out other places. I went for a cut and color. I arrived at opening and was surprised to see a group of customers already there. Even so, service was efficient, and I was out the door in about three hours. I asked for a basic trim and a root touch up. I had a funky, layered cut from before, and Minja assumed that the wispy ends were damaged (except it was the actual style). She asked if she could cut more than merely give me a trim, and I obliged. I had waist-length hair and left with bra-length, which was shocking. I asked for layers and ended up with somewhat of a lob, which is so not my style. The dye job was also subpar. I left the salon with mismatched roots and ends. With tip, I paid around $100. I won't be going back. I'm rather flashy in aesthetic choices, and this place doesn't seem to cater to that. While Minja was friendly and quick, her cuts don't seem to be on trend. In my recent quest to find a new hair salon to replace my previous barber of 7+ years, I serendipitously discovered Hair Feel Studio. Located on the western outskirts of the busy streets in Ktown, they are in a small shopping lot with some pretty good restaurants to check out as well. Parking is limited in the main lot at peak hours, but there is a secret parking alley behind the building only accessible from Wilton. Beware of the marked spots as you will get towed if you park in an area reserved for other businesses. Based on previous reviewers, I gave Joo Hee a chance and was pleasantly surprised by her skill. I have had several quirks with the way my hair grew out after haircuts from other places and she explained to me they were cutting my hair wrong. Without explaining anything to her, she quickly picked out the problem areas and taught me how to maintain my hair in between cuts. Some of the problems she was pointing out I had been dealing with for years and no one else could properly explain my issues but she broke it down in a few minutes. Not only is she talented, but she was patient and took my appointment near closing time without making me feel uncomfortable. Major kudos, after having experienced many salons with bad attitudes. I had a great time chatting with her while she worked and overall was a pleasant experience. If you are on the fence about trying this place out, I hope my review convinces you to give them a try. Best of all, men's haircuts are only $25 to $30 (depending on hairstyle) + tip which is cheaper than most Ktown salons. Be sure to bring cash since tip can not be charged on plastic. I love this place. Have been coming back here for the past several years. I've tried other places but I keep coming back here b/c compared to everywhere else, this place has it right. First off, I recommend Joohee! She's the best. When I wanted digital perm, she includes a hair cut (layers) with it. And these perms last long - I had mine up to a year before the curls pretty much were gone. After bleaching my hair in Korea, every time I came back here to get a hair cut she would give me some treatment to make sure my hair gets healthy as I have been taking not such great care of my hair. Hair cuts here are $40 which includes wash, cut, and dry which is decently priced compared to other hair salons in LA that is only a la carte. I would recommend making an appointment as it's always busy. However, they are accommodating. I went in for my appointment with my mother, and they were able to fit her in as well. read more

This place was previously known as Hair 2 U under a different management. Since then its been remodeled with different crew. Definitely a better setup. I had a few failed trials at various spots around LA (the last being at Shorty's on fairfax) i've finally found my girl Julie Kim. so I'm pretty forgiving of bad cuts and have patroned a few places giving them multiple tries to get a feel for what I like but it never works out. I've been getting man cuts from Julie the past 9 months and she's always consistent. On the second cut she recalled what I like and is always consistent. She definitely has scissor skills. I have a few friends that have switched over to her since the past few months. Now she gets by on her english but when there's a language barrier there's a person at the salon that'll translate for you. There's parking in the center and in the back if you swing around on Wilshire going west and make the right around the block you can't miss it. read more

Julie is great. I don't speak Korean, but we managed, and I really like my haircut. $25 plus tip. And saw guys with different hair styles that also looked great. Give this little salon a try. Very clean, well lit. Etude salon is also good. Again, speaking K in KTown helps, but you;ll manage without. Etude is more cosmopolitan, upscale, chic. Stylists are assisted by hair washers and finishers, so stylists just cut. read more

4 stars for cut, 1 star for interior decor. Women's haircut is $40+tip. Etude charges the same and the interior is much more elegant. I honestly didn't think Hair Feel would charge so much for a haircut. Especially if it doesn't have that elegant interior decor. It just looks like your neighborhood hair salon with a "familiar/cozy" atmosphere. I felt deceived by the looks. I honestly thought I was going to pay $30 for a haircut. Other than griping about the price, JooHee did a great job on my hair. JooHee is very nice and doesn't complain about your hair texture. I love her for that. No complaints there. Just the price doesn't match up with the decor that other pretty salons offer. I don't think i'll return. Like i said, for the same price, I'd rather go to Etude and feel like a princess while I getting a fab haircut. read more

Esther from SOS is now at Hair Feel Studio. She is amazing and has been my go-to person for over 5 years now. What I admire about Esther is the fact that she really has your best interest at hand and does not force you to do things you are uncomfortable with. Nor does she rip you off and jack up the prices. She has always been so consistent and someone i really can trust with my hair cuts, coloring, and treatments. $35 hair cuts and $5 bang trims! I left SOS and followed Esther to Hair Feel because she is the only person i can trust when it comes to my hair. :) And you know how important that is~ read more

Minja has been my hairdresser in LA for about 10 years and she has ALWAYS done a great job with each and every style I've tried out: boy short, lavishly long, red, black, and even blonde! She has a tasteful sense of style with a very smart pair of hands. In San Diego I usually go to Carlton Hair and pay $$$ to get exactly what I want because I'm very particular with my hair. But when I'm back at home in LA, Minja is my go-to girl. She cuts through all the unnecessary extra costly steps and gets straight to it. my GO TO hair place that I've been going to since i was practically a baby. Owners Minja and Julie are both great people and stylists. I always get my hair done by Minja in particular just because she really really gets me. I ALWAYS take photos to show exactly the feel and style i want. (PLEASE DO THAT, if you plan to come here) It's not because I don't believe in their styling but it's only for me, who's really picky with hair. If you're like me, don't just expect others to get you perfectly, but bring that photo or else, they'll indeed give you a good hair cut but it'll be PERFECT if you know what you want. Over the years, I've probably done ALMOST every kind of hair cut (layers, bangs, blunt, etc.), color (blonde, orange, ombre, brown, amber), and stye (boy cut, perm, straight, bob, lob) that a girl could want and Minja has given me great results, and I've always left feeling like i could take on the world as a new woman lol. I 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants an amazing haircut for a decent price. I've been getting my hair done from Joo Hee and she never fails to impress me. Every time I call, right then, the appointment is set. At times, I know I want and need a haircut, but I never know what type of hairstyle would be one that is satisfying. So, I go empty-handed without knowing what to expect. Despite all the worries, I end up coming out of the salon with a huge smile because of my brand new great hairstyle. Joo Hee is very friendly and her professionalism will never disappoint you. Her skills indeed make her one of the best, if not the best, hair stylists I have been getting my hair done from. My favorite hair stylist named Joo Hee is not only funny and easy to talk to, but is also very good at what she does.
