Bad hair cut today here at Hair Focus. Asked for a pixie cut which any hairstylist should know. no pixie side points which she cut short and top of head hair to long. Then the stylist blew the cut hair that was on the cape into my face. So I paid and went to my car. Another stylist on her way out gave me a bad hard look. Bad vibe. She listens to exactly what you want then double checks to make sure she understands before continuing. I found this place on Google, through an ad and website for one of the individual stylists, Sonny. It was a really bad, stressful experience. I was in a rush and asked if she could fit in my highlights. She said yes and to come on over. When I got there, she was already with two other clients... at the same time! As you can imagine, juggling three clients all with color treatments was more than she could manage. The other clients got upset with me being there, like I had wanted this! Being juggled between chairs and getting ignored while she took care of other clients (meanwhile my hair color was wrecked from the inattention). One poor guy had color in his hair from the time I arrived until after I left, nearly 2 hours later! I don't even want to know what his hair look like after 2 hours of dying it... Meanwhile, there were stylists available. I think it was a really bad decision that she kept the business for herself and did a crappy job, instead of working something out with one of the other stylist in the same salon. My hair ended up totally fried with bright bleached streaks, and nothing like the natural look I had asked for. read more

karen is the worse hair stylists I ever had. She is not friendly,always keeps you waiting, tries to do two or three cilents at same time, doesn't listen to what you want(cuts hair too short), leaves color on too long. She absolutely fried my hair. read more

I came in for a 3 pm appt for the first time. There was little acknowledgment that I was there and I was waiting for the stylist who was doing my hair to finish up eating (that I didn't mind, I get it.) but then the other stylist that was there that wasn't busy didn't even bother to do a shampoo on me while I waited. When I got to sit in the chair and start my appt, the stylist didn't even try to talk to me. She was at times, more focused on her phone. The atmosphere was not very friendly. The only positive about that experience was that my eyebrows came out perfect. My hair looks very choppy. I won't be back. read more

I set an appt up for 12pm and I wasn't seen till 12:20 and all the advertising stated that you get a shampoo with your haircut and she didn't even wash my hair but she cut it and straightened it. I would've needed to wash my hair that night since she didn't but since I thought that since she didn't wash it, I would be paying less than advertised. I asked at the end stating "will it be $25 then?" And she stated "no $40" and I looked around the room and didn't want to start a scene so I paid her and left at 12:50. She lost a long term customer. I don't appreciate being half assed and charged full price when I have to now wash my hair and lose the "styling" she did. read more

What an awful place! And it even worse haircut! I asked for a light trim, have a stylist pulled out their Clippers and might as well given me a number 2 setting on a Wahl set of Clippers! She is totally clueless as to what I asked for and did exactly what she wanted to do. I'm sure the other style is there have their clientele, who are very happy. But this lady just chopped the crap out of I hear and gave me something a hundred and eighty degrees different than what I wanted. I would never go back! Giving her a one-star is an overstatement. I called in and asked if I could be taken care of and the person on the phone told me to come in and they could do it right away. I came in and no one acknowledge that I was there. I sat and waited for almost 30 minutes so I just got up and left. I was very disappointed I didn't get my hair done by anyone because I heard that the stylists there are awesome! Maybe next time. Worst experience in a salon by far. I've never been more disrespected before. I came in, told the owner Karen what I wanted done. First off, she gave disgusted looks because she didn't agree with it. Then we agreed on a price for cut and full dye. My hair is very thick, long and naturally strawberry blonde. The other workers knew she'd have to bleach my hair in order to go back to light blonde. She did her own thing. Highlighted it first, which was pointless. Then was told again, you have to bleach it. She got frustrated and started bleaching it. By the end of the night, she did not do a thing I asked for. It was horrible. I was there 5 hours. Paid $150 AND also tipped her $20. When I went home and started playing with my hair, I noticed just how bad the damage was. There were patches where she did not put any bleach on. There were orange streaks. And my roots were white! I was mortified. I went back up a week later and told her I wanted a refund. She pulled me outside to discuss it, refused to give a full refund, which I wasn't asking for. I only wanted a refund of $115. I was willing to pay for the haircut. She gave me every excuse possible. Then told me she would give me $75 cash OR refund the full amount back on the card that was used. My sister used her card and had just left to go back home to Virginia. So Karen asked me to come back around 5:30. It's now 5:30 and no one is in the salon and she was waiting for me. The whole time, I was very calm and polite. Even apologizing for the whole ordeal. She continued to give me excuse after excuse. Saying it was my fault. Saying you don't get refunds if you don't like it. They don't use cash. So on and so forth. Mind you, it's not that I didnt like it, she didn't do what I asked and ruined my hair! We argued for a good half an hour. Also, lucky for me, my sister had forgotten her wallet and I had her card when I returned back to the salon. She then tells me "that's not the card that was used." Bullshit! Finally she says she would refund me $100. I said no, I will pay $35 for the cut because that's what you charge. She then proceeds to tell me, "you have a lot of hair. That's a lot to cut" when was that ever a part of the arrangement?? Then she adds that she had to use a lot of product in my hair. 1. I NEVER asked for the highlights. She did that on her own. 2. I even said 3 times, wouldn't it be smarter to cut my hair first so you don't use as much product? She denied because she had no intention of bleaching!! Finally she agrees to refund $115. She mumbles it as she walks past me. I give her the card... She only refunded me for $100!! Horrible, absolutely horrible business etiquette. I regret ever trusting that lady to touch my hair. I will NEVER go back to her. It's a shame because the other ladies who work there are amazing. Karen has been in that business 25 years and she treats her customers that way? Mind you, there's a lot more that she lied about and said, just way too much to type. read more

Upon entering I was not greeted so after a few minutes I sat down and a lady sitting down several chairs away finally asked me if I had an appt. like I was a nuisance. I told her yes and she said nothing and continued talking to another lady. She did not wear an apron so I didn't know if she worked there.??? 5 mins after my scheduled appt. time a lady came into the salon and asked me to sit down in the chair, no introduction. She asked if I was there for a color, "no a cut" I told her as I had scheduled when I called, and showed her a pic of what I was looking to get sone. I figured out she was the shop "owner" for 14yrs so I thought I'd get a great cut. $35 not a bad price. It was what you would get at a Cost Cutters. Chop shop no style cut... I was not comfortable there, loud music, horrible cut job and will not go back. I like to go to a salon to relax and leave feeling pampered & beautiful. Not the case. Left stressed. Should have trusted my guy when I walked in. Not professional in my opinion, and I have worked as a cosmetologist and been tp many salons, so I know proper hair cutting techniques & etiquette. Will not return or recommend. Spend your hard $ elsewhere. read more

I have short hair and have been seeing, Karen. She gives a great haircut. Sometimes I have thought it was a bit too short, however the good cut always grows out nicely. I go every 4 weeks so the cut should not be too short or I would give 5 stars. read more

I wish I had the option to do a "zero star" rating. I came in after not touching my hair in over 5 years attempting to regain health after a bad box dye incident. For my 21st birthday I wanted a refreshed look. I had my hair done by Karen the owner in hopes that everything would go well. I showed her a picture of what I was hoping to look like and received nothing like the picture. I told her I wanted the bare minimum of length cut off and she chopped off half of my hair. To make things worse she left the bleach in my hair far too long and now I am experiencing breakage all over what once was the healthiest part of my hair. Karen did not listen to my needs or wants. At the salon upon her cutting my hair I began crying and Karen literally laughed in my face. She showed no sympathy for my unhappiness and no appreciation for my business. The next day I had to go to Gregory the owner of LaVida hair salon to fix my hair. He was so helpful and really listened to my concerns, if it weren't for him I would be at a loss. today we went to hair focus to get my hair cut, my daughter's hair cut, and my mom's hair colored, cut and styled. we spent almost 200 dollars. our stylist is amazing and that is the only reason we came there because she recently started to work there. however, come to find out while my hair was being cut and my mom had my children in the front, they were treated extremely rude and disrespectfully. my children were yelled at my the man (owners husband I found out later) for spilling a little bit of water. my daughter went to fill her cup up and the man snapped at her and told her no. She is 5 and didn't make the mess, that was her brother. when my mom stood up for her the "man" then proceeded to yell at my mom for not cleaning it up, when she had no idea it had even been made because really the mess was so small a napkin could have more then taken care of it.. her brother asks if he can clean up his mess cuz he spilt a little bit by him (he's 3) so his big brother went and got the rag to clean it. well this so called grown man yanks it from my son's hands and throws it on the floor and puts his foot on it so he can't have it (talk about a man fit). my mom has to get it from him so my child, who is acting more mature than this adult, can clean up water. now, this is the middle of summer and if a child needs some water I don't know what type of adult would deny them and treat clients this way. had i known what was going on I would have left and scheduled with our stylist to do our hair somewhere else.. later my daughter was standing by the products with me sitting less than 2 feet from her, and was asking me about them when he tells her to not look at them and get away and go sit down by me. not knowing what previously happened I was a little taken back by his rudeness but we were about to leave so I just reassured her she did nothing wrong and then kept her away from him until we left. I will never give this company our business again. I am extremely appalled by the way this man thinks it's ok to treat other human beings,especially women and children, with zero decency or respect, all while expecting people to pay him. never again. I love the stylist and the other stylist seem to be nice as well but because of this man we will in the future take our business elsewhere. read more

I decided to try this hair salon for the 1st time after reading they were voted "Creme de la Copa" Winner in the Maricopa Monitor for hair. I made an appointment with the owner, came in for the appointment, and the older man could not find me in the appointment book. He was ready to send me away when a hair stylist (working on a patron's hair at the time) mentioned that maybe the owner, Karen scheduled it. He went to the back to check with her. The both came back to the front, but Karen had a head full of hair dye. My first thought was, why would you decide to color your own hair at the same time you had scheduled a haircut? This seemed so odd & unprofessional. She then proceeded to have me sit for a hair wash, never saying hi or introducing herself... nothing. She sprayed water all over my face & saturated the towel behind my neck so much that when she sat me up, it all dripped down the front & back of my shirt. She then proceeded to seat me for my haircut but then turned around to ask another lady if she was needing the dye washed from her hair. So that is what she did. She left me sitting there with no explanation or apology, to continue on with her previous customer. I had nothing but uneasy, untrusting feelings about this place from the moment I checked in. I went to the front counter to tell the older man that I had changed my mind & no longer wanted my hair cut. He looked at me very odd. So I explained that I was not okay with her toggling between customers & did not feel comfortable. He became very nasty & said "this is normal". He then demanded I give him their towel off my head & then threw it aside. I have never left a hair salon after checking in, but I had nothing but bad feelings at this place. I have NEVER been treated so rudely by such an unprofessional staff, and the worst part is that the rude people are the owners! read more
