lexi Ordered platinum blonde extensions for my auburn color natural hair. In the six times I've ordered ibe prior with other IBE specialists, not once did we have to color match by dyeing the pieces. I mentioned this multiple times. After spending two hours extra in the chair sitting twiddling my thumbs, and paying for multiple colorings just to match, three additional hours later I had two wefts installed and a cut Only to find they completely forgot to color and install a whole other weft. I left with the promise we would work together on the coloring and install of the forgotten weft at the time of move up. One week after install, ALL wefts had managed to come unsewn at the initial stitching plain as day when looking at me straight on. After a few weeks due to my work schedule, I called to book an appointment and was declined stating Lexi was unsure that I would be a good fit as their client. I believe this to be due to the fact that myself and three of her stylists all agreed the platinum blonde was not the correct choice. You were called out and then asked to be accountable and yet you've managed to not step up once. way to go Lexi, no wonder you're left having to hire more stylists. read more

After hearing lots of friends rave over Tia's work, I decided to go out on a whim and schedule an appointment - although it took about two weeks to get in (for an ombre & haircut), it was well worth the wait. I brought her a picture of one of her previous clients (that I found through her Instagram) and explained to her what kind of style I was looking for. She helped me decide on both a cut and color that would best suit the shape of my face and skintone. Tia took her time and walked me through each step of the process. She's extremely friendly and chatting with her felt like catching up with an old friend. She's very personable and talking with her made time fly! Tia's work blew me away - by the end of my appointment, I had the exact cut and color that I was hoping for. The entire process was quite long, taking a total of four hours. I was the last client of the day (leaving the salon around 8:30PM), but Tia did not rush through the appointment. She made sure I was completely satisfied with the look before I left. As far as pricing goes, her services are very reasonable. It was $40 for the haircut and $110 for the ombre. For the past five years or so, I have been a frequent customer at Gene Juarez of Bellevue. There, I was paying $75 for a haircut and $90 for an all over color (foil), not to mention an ombre being around $200. Overall, I have nothing but good things to say about Tia! Not only am I extremely pleased with my new look, I have already recommended her to all of my friends and family. I have seen Tia twice now, and she's amazing. She is very detail-oriented about her work and knows just what to do to fit my needs (low maintenance, minimal touch ups required). After she did my hair for the first time I didn't touch it for nine months (see? I'm lazy), and my blonde ombré was nowhere near brassy! It started as a greyish blonde and faded into a nice and more true yellow blonde. If you show her a reference picture, she will zoom in to really study the look and see what colors are needed to achieve the overall look. She really cares about not just the look, but the health of your hair. If you have a picture that is extreme, will take several sessions, and will damage your hair she will straight up let you know if it's not the best idea. This type of honesty is something I really appreciate. Attached is a picture from my most recent hair appointment. I wanted to touch up my ombré, and had a darker brown color added above the lighter pieces to make the look more blended. My hair appointment was a little under 5 hours! I was restless, but she stayed focused and even offered to grab me lunch. It was so sweet, but I declined as I had already made plans to eat with a friend. Tia did an amazing job on my hair! My appointment was scheduled for 5:30 pm, but Tia was still working on another client when I walked in at 5:15 pm. She had sent me a text the day before saying she usually runs a bit behind, so it was expected. My appointment ended up starting around 6 pm. Tia apologized and explained to me why she ran late. I told her it was no problem for me. I came in as a new client asking for a blonde ombré/balayage that was easy to maintain. She told me what she thought would work best with my hair and I told her to go for it. I was quite happy with the haircut I got. Shelly listened to me and then did a very nice cut, and great color. She talked to me about it and gave me information that was helpful in deciding how drastic to go with the color. After I got my hair cut and colored, lots of people noticed and said how nice it looked. I also thought it looked very nice. The price was not barber shop cheap, but neither was it terribly expensive. Shelly was pleasant to talk to -- she could hold a conversation, and I got the feeling that if you didn't want to talk, she wouldn't just chat away endlessly. She was very good at what she does, and very good at communicating and making a client feel comfortable. When reality slaps you in the face, what do you do? You get your hair done by Tia! :D I was sitting on my couch at home being a potato watching some Netflix when all of a sudden my quarter-life crisis hits me. YES, QUARTER-LIFE CRISIS IS A REAL THING FOLKS LOL. I thought to myself... "Damn, I'm not getting any younger! What are things I can do to make myself feel exceptional like I actually have a purpose in life?" After pointless aggravated grumbles, I decided to comb through Instagram to look for hair stylists in my area. That's where I discovered Tia! It took me so long to write this review because I wanted to keep Tia a secret. But I couldn't keep it a secret for too long because friends, family, co-workers and even my customers would come up to me and ask where I would get my hair done. She's just simply phenomenal at what she does and you can clearly see the substantial amount of responses she gets through her pictures on Instagram (@colorbytia). I'm not lying when I say Tia KNOWS hair. It's bewilders me that she even knows what to do with MY hair. My hair is not easy to maintain. My hair is dry, frizzy and thick like a horse's tail. I've been to several hair stylists including Charesse and I've just come to the conclusion that I trust Tia with my hair 100 zillion percent. I can be blind and be like "Here girl, you do your magic and surprise me." & I know I'd be in good hands. Tia takes home the gold medal and as long as she continues doing hair, I'll forever be her client. Although each to their own, there's just something about Tia that makes her stand out from the other hair stylists in the area. She is very humble, passionate about her work, down to earth and it is never uncomfortable whenever I come in for my appointment. In fact, my 3-4 hours of sitting on the chair goes by incredibly fast. She is extremely knowledgeable of what she does, is straightforward about what will work on your hair or not and is vigilant when it comes to making your hair her masterpiece. She is very sweet and truly cares about her clients and there was a time that she even asked if I wanted something to eat! Not only that - she holds contests every now and then for people to win a make over! She is very gentle when it comes to massaging and shampooing my scalp where I just want to drift off in to a slumber. She is, oftentimes booked out for 3-5 months in advance but that should give you the impression of how sought out she is. My advice for all you soon-to-be new clients - frequently check her Instagram! From time to time, she'll accept new clients. Don't give up. I also find it easier to get in touch with Tia through text. Her prices are reasonable. Her studio is very clean, well-lit and welcoming. Parking can be a bit short but honestly, I'd park 5 blocks away if it came down to it lol. In the end, I walk in with a very distinct vision of what I want my hair to look like and Tia, not only meets it but she SURPASSES and executes it more than perfect! I am actually really tired but I wanted to do this before I forgot. I had the best service here today and I walked out with the best haircut in my life... I have really thick, straight, black hair and so any mistake that is made can be seen. Andrea (My new stylist) did an amazing job with the "invisible layers"! This review is just for Tia! Super long but super worth the read because this woman is amazing. So my appointment was scheduled for 2:30-6:30 (had no idea it was gonna take that long!) came in at 230, but Tia was running behind schedule so I waited for about 30 minutes but she was very apologetic and explained what happened with her last clients, so understandable. I had told her that I need to be out of the salon by 530 to make it in time for class because I had an exam that day, so I told her I didn't need it dried or styled to save time. This was an issue because we then had only 2.5 hours to complete 4 hours worth of hair time. I FELT SO BAD! I really didn't want her to feel rushed and mess up my hair. However, she surprised me. She got through the coloring process in a little over 2 hours. (I have super long and thick hair too) when she washed out the color she told me she really needed to tone it a little before I left. I ended up leaving at 5:45, made it to my test, and Tia told me to come back at 9:30 that night!! This was so unusual for me since I've never been in a salon like passed 5-7ish when they normally close. I came back and she explained to me everything else we had to do since I left in a rush earlier. We ended up staying here until midnight! We toned my hair some more, lifted the darkness of my black roots to a warm brown, gave me a conditioning treatment (olaplex), and blew dry/texturized my hair a bit. I AM IN LOVE WITH MY HAIR RIGHT NOW! Seriously the end result had me checking myself out in the mirror for hours with infinite selfies. My hair is exactly what I had hoped for. All I really told her was that i wanted to get it as light/ashy blonde as possible with a good blend between my roots and ends. She executed this perfectly. (see picture) I have a soft ombre and the blonde part is cool and ashy. Not only is Tia talented at what she does, she's SO determined to make her clients happy with their hair! It definitely shows, the way she spent her night hours passed closing time to get my hair just right. She even offered to come in on her day off but then told me the same day would be more convenient. Let me start off by saying that I do not spend a lot of time or money getting my hair done. But I felt like it was time for a change, so I did my research and ended up with Canvas Studios. I sent them an email as well as attachment of what I would like my hair to look like. I received a response quickly and they said with what I would like to do to my hair, they wouldn't have a free spot for about another month. I thought it was a long time to wait to get my hair done, but with all the positive reviews I decided to wait. The day had finally arrived and I walked into the salon. I noticed that it was very clean and quaint. I was quickly greeted by Brooke who said she would be with me as soon as she was done with her current client. As she finished up with her client, she greeted me and had me sit down. We talked about the original attachment I sent her and she wanted to verify that was still what I wanted. Once we agreed what would happen she would talk about exactly why she was doing certain things and showed me various colors to match my picture. Overall it took about three hours to complete my hair...and I was nervous because I was wondering what I could talk about to this complete stranger. The time flew by and next thing I knew Brooke was washing all the color out and about to finish up my haircut. I have received nothing but compliments from my family and friends. Since moving to Renton from Seattle, I decided to find a stylist closer to home. I was with my last stylist for 10 years so this is a big deal for me. I could not be happier with SHELLY!! She was friendly and confident from the beginning. She gave me a great consultation, did not try to pressure me to change anything about my current style, and provided great conversation. She also has beautiful highlights and gorgeous hair. My favorite part was that after I told her I was thinking about adding a bright pink or purple streak over the summer, she introduced me to hair chalk. She applied a couple of streaks of the wash-out hair tint just so I could try it and see if I even like bright pink in my hair. It does't smudge on clothing and if it does, it isn't permanent. She went above and beyond my expectations and is $10 cheaper than my previous stylist. I decided to text her about my hair (assuming she could've been busy with another client) even sent a picture, still no reply... Seriously? It has been about a week. I'm asking to see if you can do my hair a certain way, and I have to jump through hoops to get to you? No thanks. Brandee is super amazing! I was very skeptical about having someone touch my hair after having stylist mess up time and time again. I got referred to Canvas Studio but the person I got was unavailable and redirected me to Brandee. I sent her photos of my hair and what I was looking for and she made me feel secure about trusting her to at least work on it once, sure enough SHE IS THE ONLY ONE I GO TO! She has been doing my hair for the past two to three years. She has done many different colors over the past years. We've gone from my natural dark brown (almost black) hair to lighter browns, to really light blondes and even a light purple. My color tends to last a while, and I love that she DOES NOT damage (FRY) your hair and she makes your visit super comforting and fun. YOU WILL WANT TO COME BACK! Trust me, my mom will not go anywhere else, and my friend after her stylist fried the heck out of her hair...it took one time with Brandee and she too was hooked on her. Got my hair done about a month ago and forgot to write a review. I made an appointment with Tia through the website, but she called me to confirm the appointment and chit chatted with me a bit about what I wanted to do to my hair. Really sweet girl, took her time working on my hair. I wanted an ashy blonde balayage and she explained to me that it may or may not lift because of my dark asian hair. I had it colored before (an old ombre which was almost gone from trimming so much), but she tried to lift my hair as light as possible anyways without damaging too much of my hair. It isn't the color I want, but it's not a brassy orange tone either. It's still a nice warm blonde and wearable. Tia also explained to me that I would have to go a few sessions in order to achieve the look I want, so I'm waiting it out before I go and do more damage to my hair. I'm actually due for a gloss/glaze soon to help maintain the color and give my hair some shine. Fall is approaching and I plan on going lighter. Who says you have to go dark in fall?
