I met the owner Sophie and the permanent makeup artist Tannaz. The salon has a great vibe and it's really comfortable and relaxing. They have great customer service. You can tell they know what they are doing. I saw the work with the micro blading and lip blush and I'm curious to try it. I love the way my hair came out when I get it done. I normally don't leave reviews so a little bit about my history. I have done my own hair for approximately the last decade reason being as I've always found it difficult to find a barber/stylist that actually understood what I was looking for and did a good job that I was happy with. I tend to find that most of the male barbers out there are more concerned about what they considered to be a fade and that was their specialty, but they never really paid much attention to the top of the hair, which was always been my problem area and actually doing a job that I found it to be satisfactory. anytime I would find a female Stylist they would simply cut my hair short either a buzz cut or just do a very simple style over however, I never felt that that was what exactly what I wanted, even though I would show them countless pictures no Stylist or barber ever really met the need and for the price of what I was paying I just figured it was easier to do it myself now that was before I found Hair Secret and Sophi in the city of Upland. not only have I've been satisfied with how my hair looked. She also gave me very specific instructions and tips on how to actually take care of my hair. I was really disappointed with my experience at this salon. I booked a wash, cut, and style over the phone and was never told the price in advance, so I had no way of knowing what to expect until checkout. When I checked out, I was shocked to be charged $184 for a very basic service. I completely respect the value of a hairstylist's skill and the cost of quality work, but this price point is simply excessive for the services I received--and it should have absolutely been mentioned up front during booking. Had I known the cost, I would have reconsidered booking. While the stylist was polite, the price point felt unreasonable for what I received, especially compared to other salons in the area. At the very least, I would have expected some kind of effort to make up for the overcharge, such as a treatment or one of the products used during my visit. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Transparency and fairness go a long way in building trust with clients, and I didn't feel that here. I won't be returning and would caution others to ask for pricing upfront. read more

I recently came here for a haircut. I only needed a trim and style. I called in to see if they had an opening for me and she told me yes and to walk in. My stylist was great and I did like the haircut and the style but then when it was time to check out I was charged $163. Mind you I came in with my hair washed already so in total for the trim and style it only took 40 minutes. I should have known better and asked for the price before coming in but never did I think I'd be charged this much. I have been to many salons and even the high end salons don't cost this much. It typically ranges from $75-90. I even sent in a message to know exactly what I was charged for but instead of going into details I was just sent a message that they would give feedback to the team and apologized for the surprise charge. I should have looked at the reviews before coming in and went to the other salon that had an opening for me and was only going to charge me $80. If you want to save MONEY and TIME, skip this salon! Trust me, AND all the other negative comments:( Don't skip the negative comments like I did... I got the service done almost a year ago, but I'm finally writing the review now. It was Kim Sophirian who helped me. I literally paid 500$ for nothing. Okay I wanna keep it short but I won't promise. So I went the first time for a consultation with Kim, I told her what I wanted, which was a Keratin hair straightening treatment. I told her that I had it done twice outside the US and I'm not sure what it's called here, but in my country they called it Keratin. It keeps your hair STRAIGHT for 4-6 months. I told her my hair is frizzy, thick and unmanageable, its not fine hair. She looked at my hair, felt it and everything. I told her specifically that I got Keratin done in another Salon in upland but it didn't do anything, so she knew that what I meant was not the "American Keratin"... She told me she knows what I'm talking about and she has experience for over 10 years and has dealt with Egyptian hair (which is also thick like mine) and knows what I want. She said its the one with formaldehyde. The chemical that actually straightens it. So I was like okayy yeah probably that one then, but it should keep it straight for at least 4 months even after showers obviously. She said yeah, she has a special product that ls stronger than her GK treatment (which is her keratin treatment) and has "more formaldehyde". It was all lies, she literally used the GK treatment the same one, I realized afterwards because she said it with her own words when I went back and told her that it didn't work. I told her I am willing to pay 500$ if it really will do the job and keep it actually straight for 5 months. She made me trust her, and obviously got my money with her deceiving words. Okay her hands were gentle, I'll give her that, but babe I'm not here for that, I mean I appreciate that you're gentle and the way she straightens hair is calm; but that's not what I paid for! I paid for the TREATMENT. To WORK for 5 months... Which NEVER worked btw. After one wash its as if I had done nothing. Maybe made it soft but, again, not whatI paid for. Literally so sad. Paid 500 DOLLARS and then I told her a week later or maybe a month later that it didn't work. It didn't do what you promised me! So she wanted to see for herself. I agreed and went to her salon again. She wasted 1-2 hours washing and blow drying it. She literally straightened it herself afterwards because it didn't come out straight when she blow dried my hair! I was like I either want my money back or you'll have to do the treatment again... for real this time! I paid for something I never received! If I was gonna pay for a hair botox treatment, which is what she did, I would've paid 100-200$ max. Which is a hair wash, treatment then wash again. A hair botox supposed to soften and rejuvenate ur hair and is usually 200$ maximum. But that's not what I asked or paid for! She knew VERY well what I wanted. Yet didn't bother to try to do the treatment again to fix it or actually do it, nor did she give me my money back. At least half of it. Don't waste your time, or money here trust me fam. Unless you're rich and wanna sit and relax and pay a couple hundred bucks, then suree. (I wouldn't have been so bitter if it was half the price, but I paid a LOT trusting her and got nothing) I'll tell you one thing, Kim Sophirian is so good at talking (lying), she can convince you to spend hundreds of dollars on your hair so well. NOT WORTH THE PRICE SOPHIE IS A FRAUD Found them on yelp and called the Upland location to book an appointment. I said I wanted a basic trim, nothing fancy. She asked if I was a new customer, I said yes. Sophie said I needed to zelle her $25 to secure my spot, so I did, no problem. She explained she would use it to pay for a portion of "whatever your total will be" - I really should have asked what she charges for a trim. I did not, this was my mistake entirely. I zelle her the money, no problem. I arrive and wait a bit past my appointment, no problem. She then called me to sit in the chair....she asked what I wanted, and I said "Just a trim" we agreed on 3 in, a dry cut, she did not add layere, and she put some hair oil. I said I was going to the gym so no styling was needed. She asked me about my hair and I explained I cover my hair (I work in a hospital) and Im a bit of a tomboy so I dont style my hair, I just get it trimmed, it had been about 10 mths since my last haircut. During the haircut, she asked me the usual questions - I told her what I do for work, where I live, how I had just moved to the area, etc. She occasionally stops to answer some calls or to check on her daughter, and at the moment it didnt bother me. After 25 mins, shes done. I think "Cool, nice and quick!" As we walk to the cash register, a man enters - she introduces him to me and as shes ringing me up, she tells the man EVERYTHING about me that I had shared with her during the haircut - where I lived, what I do for work, my relationship status, etc,. Mind you, I understand people have a tendency to make small talk, but I absolutely do not know this man and did not feel comfortable with this. I need to mention this because I was genuinely so shocked by this that I hastily tipped her and didn't really look at what I was being charged for. As I got to my car, I looked at the receipt and realized she charged me $94 for a trim! I then realized she didn't apply the $25 from my zelle deposit. I immediately went back inside, told her, and she smacked her head and said she forgot, but would zelle it back to me. I then asked why the trim was $94.... she told me the prices are on the website, I told her I didnt see prices online, I had assumed there would be some sort of menu at the salon...she said there is no physical sign with prices at the shop. She showed me (on her phone) that if you go to booking, choose your service, and then check out, you could see the prices (I told her I opted to call for an appointment which is why I never proceeded to book online, and never saw prices). There isn't a trim option online, so she said she chose a service and customized the price for the service she did....ok....Furthermore, as shes showing me this, I see the prices are CHEAPER online! Sophie then says "Oh yeah if you book online you get a discount" to which i sarcastically replied "That wouldve been great to know when we talked on the phone yesterday". She then zelled me back my money because I told her she already forgot once, so i needed her to send me my money right then and there. As a note, Sophoe took before and after videos of my hair with her own phone - I'd love for her to reply and post them so people can see how little she did to justify the $94 price tag. Such a ripoff. That salon is NOT worth the price. The only reason I didn't argue was because I hadn't gotten my hair cut in so long, I had assumed even haircut prices went up (like groceries). I asked all my friends and they told me I straight up got robbed by this woman. She literally cut 3 in, trimmed my bangs, put some oil and said tahdah and I fell for it. Don't be like me. I first came in for a consultation, and Sophie assessed the integrity of my hair and asked questions to understand my hair goals. I wanted information on the straightening treatment options. Sophie walked me through the options and also suggested a haircut and new style. I'm SO glad she did! I am in love with my new style! The cut is awesome! I had the privilege of being styled by Sophie on two occasions, each both very different and specific requests. First session in late May was to get my hair dyed ash blond, and the second late June was to get my hair styled like a character I cosplayed as at Anime Expo. Just know coming in here you will spend more than at another salon. I came here for a trim. I was a walk-in, I called 15 minutes before and Sophie opened her shop up just for me which was convenient. My hair is medium length with little damage, I just wanted the ends trimmed. Did a dry cut too so I didn't have her wash or style. She took off only what needed to come off (perfect) and she gave me some hair care tips. Got to checkout and it came out to $100 including my tip. And that's after she gave me $10 off since it was my first time. So base cost on a trim is ordinarily about $93. I get it, she is located in the center of downtown Upland and she owns two other salons so.. she has to take care of that overhead. But just so you are aware before you come here, you will be paying a premium for an average experience. She is nice though and the salon is cute. Overall good experience but I could have saved $50 going somewhere else. read more
