Dropped my shotgun off March 13 for a center bead and barrel porting. The gunsmith called 3/23 and sald about six weeks. After 8 weeks I went to the store but they knew nothing except that it would be 3 to 6 months to get the job done. What? Nobody told me this when they took my gun. After 12 weeks I called the gunsmith. I was told that the center bead was done but there was a note on the gun to call me for instruction on the porting. They had never called but I was told that my gun would go to the front of the line and get done right away. that was in June. In August I called again. They pretended they didn't know anything about my call but 'we'll check into it'. "If you haven't heard back from us by 4PM, call us back. I did and got voice mail. Two days later someone answered. Didn't know when the gun would be finished. I told them to ship it back and forget the whole thing. I finally got it back on September 17. There was no center bead. They had lied about that. They had the gun just short of 6 months and hadn't even looked at it. I guess I didn't condense at all. Sorry. Once I started venting i figured that I may as well tell the whole sordid story.

Further proving the desolation of the area are the Christmas decorations; the tree outside was decorated with ornaments and a "dead deer" hanging by its back legs in the tree. (OK maybe I am being slightly dramatic - its not that far out of civilization). Any way. They have every little random thing you might need in a pinch, but it is definitely not a place to do your main shopping. It was $7 for a bag of chips and carton of eggs but it saved a bunch of gas and time, so I think it evens out. I am sure we will be back, frequently, as someone in the family is at the cabin every weekend. Its good to know a place run by nice people exists conveniently nearby.

The the store front looks small from Highway 12, don't be deceived, they've got plenty of room inside, and on many occasion have had everything I have needed. As it's right off of Highway 12, there's not a ton of parking right in front of the store, but there's plenty of parking to the east of the store. Joe's is a small town, family run place. There's no pay at the pump, but having to talk with the friendly staff isn't a problem, after all we need a bit more social interaction! The Sport Shop side of Joe's is evident in the front of the store with the fishing equipment and bait, but don't be fooled as there's plenty they have to offer for basic houseware and maintenance needs. My suggestion would be that if you need something, check with Joe's before heading out of town!
