He really listens, offers suggestions when you're not sure of what you want, and can produce exactly what you ask for. I always walk away feeling fabulous from an excellent cut and color and the best conversation. Over the years he's helped me grow my hair out in a very healthy way, given me perfect color to hide my gray and always has an awesome product to introduce you to. All this for a fair and affordable price point. On top of all that, he's just a good really human, with lovely energy and you can't help but enjoy his company while you're in his chair. Ali has been doing my hair for about 8 years now. He's not conveniently located to me, but I don't trust anyone else with my color or with cutting my very thick hair. Ali is very open, honest and loves to share stories and hear your stories. I've always had a good time getting my hair done. If I have something really specific I want done, I am just sure to be clear about it and bring photos so he can try to get it exactly how I want. That being said, he will make his own suggestions based on my face shape and what he feels will look good based on his many years of experience. I saw Ali for the first time, and I was very impressed. I called him at about 9am on a Sunday and asked if he had any open spots for the day. A couple of hours later, I was sitting in his chair, telling him what I wanted to do with my hair and showed him photos. He had explained what he could do l, how much it would cost, and that he would be able to color my hair later that day. I was very nervous because I had been thinking about what I wanted for six months and had high expectations. But Ali surpassed all of them. He added a beautiful purple color (ombré style) to my dark brown hair. During the service, Ali was very professional and put me at ease. He explained each step along the way and made good conversation. He made me feel like a princess, which I appreciated very much. After reading so many good reviews, I had high hopes. The salon is cute and conveniently located and Ali got me an appointment right away. I brought in a photo of what I wanted (blonde highlights blended beautifully into brunette hair). In the picture, the colors are soft and there are no hard lines. However, I got chunky highlights with a brassy tone, hard lines and no sense of blending at all. I had also asked for some darkness to be added since my own hair color is mousy brown/dirty blonde. Upon getting out into the sun, my husband pointed out that the color was much darker on one side. I think Ali and I both knew that I didn't look anything like the picture but he still charged me $90. When I got home, I realized there was also one random super thick streak of blonde almost up to the root on one side towards the back. I'm not sure why that was even there because in the picture, all the highlights start around ear level. I feel too embarrassed to go back and ask for my money back. My friend said I should ask him to fix it, but I was afraid of inflicting further damage. Four days later, I went to the Paul Mitchell school and had them do an all over dark brown color to cover the damage. As the lady was dying my hair, she kept pointing out mistakes that I hadn't even noticed and seemed pretty shocked at how poorly executed the hair color was. They also had to do a deep condition since my previously healthy hair was now feeling pretty fried. Ali was a really nice guy, but I'm just mad I've spent about $150 in the last two weeks for a color I didn't want (that I then had to fix), and damage to my hair. read more

I found Ali Hadjian thanks to Yelp. I called him to set up a consult and having loved his approach/knowledge/personality I scheduled an appointment for the following day, July 30. My schedule was completely open but I was still impressed that he was able to see me so quickly. My hair is very dark brown and has a curly texture. My main concerns were covering some grays and trying to manage the dry frizzy ends.....Ali suggested a smoothing Keratin treatment and I am ever grateful that he took the time to explain the process and give me the name of the company to allow me to research the procedure (4ever Smooth) before I made a decision. I love the color and the texture of my hair is amazing!!! It is screaming healthy with all this unbelievable SHINE!! I am currently blessed to have the beach wave look that I have always coveted-without heat or much effort. Listening to him talk about what he planned to do, after I brought in an inspiration picture, I could tell that he really knew what he was doing. I made an appointment with Ali over a week in advance and was looking forward to it the whole time because of the great reviews he had on here! He asked me to text him pictures of what my hair currently looks like as a reference, and I did, along with the kind of color I was going for (a chocolate brown). When I got to the salon, he already had the dye mixed up so I thought, awesome, he knows exactly what I mean! He put the dye on my hair, put on a movie, turned off the lights and laid down on the couch. A little unconventional, but fun, so I went with it. He didn't check my hair once, and about an hour later, I sat there with BLACK hair. I wanted to cry right then and there, and he tried to convince me that it was exactly the chocolate color I had asked for. I guess chocolate does come in a lot of different colors. I wanted milk chocolate, and he gave me the 90% cocoa kind. Eeek! I told him it's not what I wanted, and he got frustrated with me and told me to be quick and come back to the sink. He shampooed in a lightener, but it didn't do ANYTHING. I also have curly hair, and read on here that he was supposed to be good with that texture. You can always tell the stylists who don't know how to deal with curly hair, because they'll blow dry it straight before they cut it and that's exactly what he did. He spent maybe five minutes cutting off the dead ends and charged me $50 for it. (He didn't charge for the color since it looked so bad) I had to go to work the next day with black hair (it was super light brown the day before) and got a lot of weird looks/comments from co-workers. He didn't make himself available at all that weekend to fix it, so I've spent all weekend trying to get it back to an acceptable color on my own. He mentioned several times he was going through a divorce, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say his mind was preoccupied. But my hair looked horrendous and overall, it was an awful experience. Save yourself the time, money and embarrassment and go somewhere else or do it yourself. read more

Ali is the best in color, cut and style. I have posted on citysearch, where he has 98 reviews already, but I was surprised not to find him on yelp.com. This is my 3rd time seeing him and he has done an awesome job every time. I like the natural look and have brown hair and he manages to get it so natural that you can't even tell when it's growing out. He also doesn't pressure you to go back every 6-8 weeks for money, when I went at 3 months, he even told me my color could wait longer than that. I feel he is very genuine about his love of styling hair and his clients' satisfaction. i am complimented on my hair even 4 months after coloring and cutting. The layers he puts in my hair don't even out, they are still very well defined after so long. Also, he is always willing to work with your schedule. I called him today, Friday at 10:30 AM and he was able to fit me in at 3 PM. I was not expecting that since it was a Friday, but he managed to fit me in. I was 30 min. early and he was happy about that since he left after my hair was done =) He always has great conversation and is very personable.
