We agreed to a time and when we arrive, we were greeted. We only waited a short time before someone came to shampoo his hair. While that was happening, in true last-minute form, I asked if there was any chance I could get a wash and blow dry. I gave her an out - and said NO is an acceptable answer given how late in the day it was and the thickness of my hair. Again, Nadia was agreeable and had another gal to do this (missed her name but very sweet and skilled at blow dry). My son has longer hair, passed his chin and was very happy with the cut that she gave him. I was also very happy with my wash and blow dry. What drew me to the salon was the positive reviews and the reasonable prices. I can attest Nadia's salon is an excellent value!! Quality service, at a small salon, for great rates. Gives a local "regulars" vibe, and for those with lots of thick and/or curly hair...they are not afraid and can work with this type of hair well.

So i had the blessing of being one of my best friends bridesmaides this summer. and she was a wonderful bride, super supportive of coloring in my hair and my tattoos being out so the week before the wedding the bride finally convinced me she was serious about the hair color change. she knew i didnt like the hair style i had at the time, she knew that the plain jane look wasnt quite me. So a few weeks before the wedding I went looking for a hair stylist. but i was terrified, the horror stories i have experienced in the past made it super hard to trust again. until one day i took a chance and told this chick she had great hair and she told me her secret weapon! I got the nerve up and called Vanessa (@vanessahairaddiction) She was amazing! not only was she accommodating to my work schedule, but she was super supportive in my hair choice even offered the up the beautiful hair color i ended up with which was a warm rose gold which I am in love with! not only was she amazing and had a great way of working, her assistant Lilly was a beast with a curling iron and a joy to meet. I have never really felt good after paying for my hair getting done, i am never really happy with it, but this time was completely different i was so happy i couldnt stop smiling im sure vanessa thought i was crazy! by the time it was done and that angel in humans clothing finished the last curl my hair was glowing and i was in love! I couldn't be happier with the magic she made with my hair! When the bride saw it she agreed it was absolutely perfect! She not only helped me get over my fear of salons and crazy hair people who want to just chop and cut against my will, but for the first time in a while i feel beautiful and felt very safe in the very capable hands of this genius! Ok well first off I want to point out that I hardly EVER write reviews. But, my experiences have been so awesome and memorable that I feel this needs to be shared. For most of my adult and teenage life I've suffered with acne and it's been extremely embarrassing for me. Because of my skin issues I never let anyone see me without my makeup on. Unfortunately in the past I've had to let estheticians see me "in the raw" and in turn they made me feel really uncomfortable when commenting on my skin once the makeup was removed; which didn't help my self esteem. Nunei Harrington (esthetician at Butterfly Loft) was the polar opposite. She commented on how pretty she thought I was and this was after she removed my makeup. Everything about her was genuine. She was a total breath of fresh air. Her hands were that of a healer. I feel she was sincerely heaven sent. Since getting facials from Nunei my skin has dramatically improved. Beyond her healing hands she's totally green which separates her from many other estheticians. Her products are organic and all natural and you undoubtedly feel the difference in your skin from the very first appointment. Because I was so impressed by my treatment I decided to go to her website www.nuneinaturalbeauty.com to see what this blissful experience was attributed to. I then discovered Nunei has in fact been a natural healer for over 20 years. She has been recognized on both TV and in magazines such as Greenopia, Sherry Beall's documentary "Healthy Planet Healthy Me" and even on the NBC news Los Angeles. I really don't want to spoil all of what you'll learn about her on her website by telling you now but I'll end on this note... Overall, every experience has been celestial. I didn't feel like I was just "getting a facial". I was excitedly overwhelmed with a yogi environment, with healing scents, and hands that massaged my head, hands, feet, back, and my entire face with the top of the line natural products leaving me feeling revitalized and rejuvenated. What a WASTE of money! (PHILLIP ARELLANO) Paid $75 for a "hair cut" that was not even worthy of Supercuts or Fantastic Sam's. I was literally ASHAMED to tell my friends that I had paid that much money to get my hair to look like it did: NO structure, NO definition, NO layer, NO style, NO movement. Just a big pile of BLAAA. The hair cut that I got over 3 yrs ago looked better than what Phillip did!!! I have very manageable, slightly wavy, thick, good quality, long hair. With a good hair cut, I hardly even need to brush my hair for it to look nice. But all the visual aids that I showed him & all the time that I spent explaining specifically what I wanted was USELESS. This guy ONLY KNOWS ONE hair "style" (for lack of a better word) so he keeps regurgitating the SAME thing over and over again with different lengths. He barely spent 5 minutes (being generous) "cutting"my hair, and about 1hr "styling" it which is what UNSKILLED hair dressers need to do to COVER UP their incompetence , brushing & blowing endlessly, gels, sprays and other tools of the trade with which ANY long hair would eventually look semi acceptable after all that time! Frankly, I only let him blow dry my hair for so long thinking that he wanted to have better visibility and go back and do the actual hair cut as I've seen others do but no! That was all he knew! I was surprised and I tried to run my fingers through my hair to see how it looked and he complained that I was messing up his work! LOL! Really???!! My hair now points down and inwards instead of back and outwards, no layers to be found anywhere, no similitude of any kind of artistry, it takes me 5X LONGER to fix my hair and make it look like there actually is a hairstyle in there and I'm the one who's messing up?! ** DO NOT BOOK WITH SHANTEL ** I recently visited Butterfly Loft Salon and had the unfortunate experience of having my hair cut and colored by Shantel. Sadly, the outcome was far from what I expected or deserved, especially considering the salon's reputation. Firstly, Shantel's approach to hair care was less than professional. She completely fry my hair, leaving it in worse condition than when I arrived. This alone was disheartening, but her demeanor added insult to injury throughout the process. She displayed a consistent attitude that made the experience uncomfortable and far from the pampering session one anticipates at a salon. Moreover, Shantel's pace during the appointment was incredibly slow. While I appreciate thoroughness and meticulousness in a stylist, it became apparent that the slow pace was not due to careful attention to detail but rather a tactic to extend the appointment, possibly to justify a higher price. In the end, I was charged an excessive amount for a service that was not only unsatisfactory but also damaging. Shantel did not welcome feedback or concerns. When I attempted to express my dissatisfaction, she was dismissive and rude, showing no willingness to take responsibility or offer solutions for the issues caused under her care. I advise against booking an appointment with Shantel at Butterfly Loft Salon. There are numerous talented and respectful professionals in the industry who deserve your business. i went here to see Larisa at the Ubungalows area of the loft and i must say that she is absolutely amazing!! Whenever you go to a salon you get scared that the color might not be the way you like it or the cut will be way to short but with Larisa you always get what you want and if it wasnt how you pictured it then its even better!!! I first found her through a friend that showed me her instagram page and i fell in love!! it took me almost a year to get an appointment with her but when i did there were absolutely no regrets! she removed these chunky highlights from my head and gave me a nice ombre blend and i fell in love! a couple months after i asked her about a complete make over where she gave me a shoulder length hair cut and i love my hair even better than before!! Not only is she amazing at what she does but she is such a loveable and easy to talk to person! every time i go to a salon i dread those awkward conversations that you get trapped into but with Larisa you feel like youve known her forever!! Words cannot describe how truly amazing and delightful my experience was when I went to the Butterfly Loft. Larisa Love is brilliantly talented and quite simply an artist when it comes to color and hair. I had always heard and seen such wonderful things about her and the rave reviews she has received by her other clients and through following her on Instagram, and now I know why! She is gifted with her abilities and my visit exceeded my expectations. She is warm, friendly, kind, and such a professional. She gave so much attention and care to every detail of my color and my cut. Her assistant Andres was so nice, helpful and genuine, and together, they make a great team. After reading all the reviews and being a fan of the Butterfly Loft myself, it gives me great pleasure to say the salon is very warm and friendly. The people are even friendlier and so real. Like they always say, there is no one you can talk to more or get the truth from more, than your hairstylist.... Yeah for them!! I have dealt with Melissa for a while now and understanding she will have her own chair now makes me happy for her. I still want to make sure I don't miss out talking to her or just to see how she's doing. She is definitely someone you need to keep at your salon. Her smile is contagious....Watch out people you might get one yourself. Dealing with Melissa has been a pleasurable experience with her great smile and demeanor. Tasha! Tasha! Tasha! I came to Tasha a couple months back with a disaster! I had been to a stylist in Valencia and she botched my hair! I thought I would never find someone to fix it but my sister said that if anyone could fix it Tasha was the one. Tasha took me right away after hearing my story and was mortified when she saw what the other stylist had done. She took her time with me and asked me what my goal was with my hair. Tasha was so thorough with my hair that she took 3 1/2 hours to make sure it was fixed. When she showed me my before and after pictures I almost cried! Tasha not only gave me what I wanted but she went a step further and just wowed the hell out of me! I have been going to Tasha for months now and I will follow her to the ends of the earth. The results were even more beautiful than what my daughter had asked for -- the color is rich, dimensional, and looks so natural in every light. Nicole Bellows has been doing my hair since I first moved to LA over a year ago so I feel I am long overdue to leave a review for her. She is truly an incredible stylist; stays on top of the latest industry break-throughs, is happy to share her insights, extremely talented, patient, compassionate, and very honest. My hair is fragile as it has endured going blonde then dark brunette, then having some highlights, and now completely blonde again. I was very excited, but nervous about going blonde again yesterday, since I've had so much processing in the past. Yes, everyone wants to book an appointment with her, and it's clear why... her hair skills and personality. Alexis is an absolute wizard at cutting, coloring, and styling. She's a great listener, but she also always has a way of taking what I want and making it cooler. I trust her instincts. The Butterfly Loft is a fabulous new salon! Easy to find and although parking in San Fernando is always an issue, it's not here. When you walk in you immediately get a sense of the great, open space, reminiscent of a New York loft. The salon has a modern, hip look from the artwork to the color scheme. The receptionists are so welcoming and there's complimentary water and coffee in cool glasses and mugs while you wait. The stations have comfy chairs to sit in and large mirrors. Spacious windows bring in lots of light and the stylish shampoo bowls can adjust to your comfort. Stylists all looked professional and were so friendly. Alexis has been my stylist for years and I always leave looking perfect, thanks to the many great hair services that she offers. I found Masey through Butterfly Loft and Salon's instagram page. I had been dying my own hair for years a dark chocolate brown and had recently tried to go to a lighter color. By doing this on my own I ended up with 3 different colors in my hair after several attempts. Before giving up and just dying it all black I decided to spend some $ and see if someone could help me fix the damage. Not only did I have 3 different colors in my hair but it was also so damaged from the 30 volume developer I used trying to lighten it. I needed a miracle. It takes a village....... To cut my hair! So, I walked into the Loft for the first time about 2 months ago. Was not sure what to expect by how fancy the place is. I expected pretentious and expensive. Much to my surprise it was very different. I lucked out and walked in with no reservation and met this super nice girl named Jessica who was on her way out and she informed me that she had a cancellation and she could cut my hair right then. She set me up with her assistant who washed my hair and then Jessica gave me a cut. I am use to paying $60+ for a cut......she did it for $40 and did a way better job then I have ever received. At the end of the cut Jessica washed my hair again. When do you ever get a 2nd wash? That blew my mind!!! I went to Butterfly Loft Salon the weekend before Valintine's. I made an appointment with Breanna Weinhold @breebirds_hair for a cut and color (balayage) two weeks in advance. My experience was amazing! I sent her photos of the color that I wanted, a burgundy balayage with purple tones that become more vibrant under direct light. She captured the color beautifully! Better than the photos I showed her. Before applying the dye, she showed me swatches of the mixes she played around with to make sure she had the right color. I love how the color ombres from black to a dark burgundy-purple with kicks of fushia/hot pink. The whole process took about 5 hours, which is pretty normal for a cut/balayage. Even though it took 5 hours, it really didn't feel like it and the complementary coffee was delicious! I will definitely come back again. read more

LAURYN IS SUCH A TALENTED STYLIST!!! i showed her two completely different pictures and told her that i wanted something in between. she immediately thought of the perfect thing and went with it. it was my first time doing a crazy color and i couldnt be happier with what I got. she constantly made conversation with me throughout the entire process and made the 6 hrs bearable. she used a bleach that wouldnt completely fry my hair, which says a lot about how she cares for her customers overall hair health. I'm so happy to find Lulu at the Butterfly Loft Salon! I have been struggling to get my hair color and highlights right for years now and she really did a GREAT job! It was tricky because I had so many different people highlight my hair over the years and there was a lot going on. Lulu was able to correct the problem and gave me a beautiful head of highlights and a fabulous blow dry. I received so many complements afterwards and truly have not looked this good in many, many years. The salon is beautiful and very comfortable, the staff very friendly, and location and parking was a breeze. If you want a professional and caring stylist I highly recommend Lulu! read more

In the next breath she told him, "If she was one of my clients with 4 million followers I'd be totally screwed. I'd be like here take my money." She said all the quiet parts out loud "she's just a waitress and a tarot card reader." Beauty School dropout... Go back to high school... Your lack of intelligence proceeds you. You gave yourself away. She didn't realize she was inadvertently agreeing my hair was ruined. It's so satisfying to let someone like Nicole talk and reveal themselves. She is just another; clout chasing, manipulative, shallow, disingenuous show-boater without honor, or ethics. The type that gives Angelenos a bad name. She speaks and writes like a seventh grader, but tries to act so sophisticated. She isn't fooling anyone. Since when are hair stylists in a class so far above waitresses? They aren't. Nicole went to beauty school and got a certificate after 1600 hours. I graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in our country, but I wouldn't look down my nose at Nicole because she could only go to a trade school that accepts anyone willing to pay. Nicole boasted she makes $350 an hour. Not every hour though for sure lol, because she was idle in a chair of an empty salon when I dropped off papers for her. Tons of "last minute cancellations" and open slots featured on her ig's stories too. You can expect a touch of this type of attitude from the very talented stylists in Beverly Hills. Nicole is neither talented or in Beverly Hills, and yet her ego barely fit in the court room. A legend in her own mind. Surely the result of too many participation trophies and parents who told her everything she did was wonderful! Her and her assistant literally lied to the judge and told him breakage only happens immediately. Everyone in the world knows over processed hair continues to break every time you wash, brush or style it. If you try out Nicole I highly recommend boosting your ig following, or having a career she admirers if you want her to avoid burning your hair off. Everyone else is just there to pay her bills and they have to take what they get. Your money is just whatever unless she can ride your coattails some other way. Also keep in mind her best effort is still seriously lacking. Her prettiest client Alyson who she tries to do well for is getting thinner and shorter as they go along, because Nicole doesn't know how to lighten hair without damaging it. Their making up the distance in extensions. Her methods are haphazard and half-assed. She doesn't know how to cut curtain bangs, or what color champagne blonde is. It's pretty sad. I feel sorry for her partner who appears to be a genuine person, even her buddy who brushed clumps of my hair out and lied for her, but most of all I feel sorry for her new business partner. She's far more talented, she doesn't need Nicole. They will all see in time. Nicole is never responsible for her actions, and she will always take shortcuts and advantage of others if she thinks it will benefit her.

It always looks so natural, beautifully blended and fresh. I've even moved out of the area, but I still make the drive to see her because she's completely worth it. She does the correct process and my hair remained unfrizzy when blown out and when let to dry naturally. She's not going to read you a bedtime story, she's going to get you in and out as quick as possible. Oh and yes if your hair is SUPER long you need to pay extra, pretty common sense for the price she charges.
