I showed her exactly what I was looking for going to hairstyle and we ended up taking about 6 in off my hair which is exactly what I wanted I love the bounce the vibe and the volume and the hairstyle. Never been here before, but I was in a pinch and they were available. I made an appointment for a balayage with Kim. I showed her reference pictures and told her I wanted natural money pieces that blended into my roots. She put the bleach up to my skin on the money pieces and I could feel it burning. After washing, I came out with fairly dark (still) hair and completely bleached (way too light) money pieces that were also orange at the top. She told me they looked fine but I had her go back and tone them. It still didn't look like what I asked for but I gave up. I had to buy hair dye at home and fix the roots. A few days later, my scalp is still irritated and scabbing where she put the bleach right on my skin. read more

Came in for a scheduled appointment to have my hair done for a wedding. My appointment time was scheduled at 1:30pm and the woman on the phone assured me there was a large bridal party before me and if they finish early they are able to do both my hair and makeup and let me know. I arrived at 1:30pm to be told they finished the bridal party early but somehow are only able to do just my hair and no makeup. That seemed odd to me. I am checked in and sitting in an empty salon waiting for over an hour to be seen to only have half of my scheduled services done. By the time I was seated in the chair it was around 2:40pm my event started at 5pm and it was a 35minute drive back to my hotel. The stylist did a good job for what I wanted. But the amount of product and hairspray used was overkill it took me 3-4 washes that evening to get my hair back to normal. My stylist really didn't have any desire to converse which I can understand after a long day but anytime I made a comment on my hair she would respond with "I know, I've worked with extensions before". Not only that but the price I was quoted on the phone for curls and half up half down was almost double when I was checked out. There are definitely better salons in the area and I should've listened to the reviews on this place. read more

I've been coming here for the last five years. Every August I bring my girlfriends, and relatives in for our annual mani pedi. We look forward to it and always spend a decent amount of money. Every year. This year, four of us eagerly anticipated our "moms retreat" day. I think there were new staff. But three out of the four of us had dreadful manicures. Beyond disappointing. So we had to hang around an extra hour for these to be rectified. I sat with my pedicure drying for two hours. When I got home I realized my pedicure was in an awful state and both toes were in need of fixing. Keep in mind I had just spent $208 for two mani pedis for my girlfriend and I. I went back to ask could they fix my toes. It was 5.45pm and they close at 7pm. Despite there being several staff members around, they told me there was no one one who could fix it, they'd all gone home. And fixing it the next day looked questionable. There was little or no care or concern I had just spent $100 on my fingers and toes and the girl even looked down on my toes and said "oh that's really bad!!!" I would have gladly fixed my toes there in the spot myself. They did not give me the opportunity and no one there was willing either. I'll be dammed if I ever go back and give these guys another cent or recommendation. Their recovery of four very substandard mani pedis was pitiful and absolutely not good enough. I'm already looking for another place for next years' holiday. I would give no stars if possible. Today's experience was abysmal. read more

Came here for an eyebrow tint and got everything but. The lady doing them was super nice, but had no idea what she was doing. My eyebrows weren't even shaped or anything. She just slapped hair dye on them, didn't even cover all of my eyebrow hair, and then wiped it off and left. So bad! My family was having some beach photos taken. I knew it would be windy since it's the beach, so I made a hair appt to get a low simple updo. We also spent a lot of money on these photos so I wanted my hair to look nice. My stylist was Kim. she may be great at other aspects of the hair world but updos is not one of them. I showed her photos of exactly what I wanted. She seemed confused and kind of all over the place. She did my hair once and I asked her to change certain parts. She took it out and did it again. Again, I told her I wasn't trying to be difficult but my hair was up high and I wanted it low so it didn't look so formal. She took it all out again. She did it a third time (at this point I'm near tears) I sit in the chair and actually help her do my own hair. It still wasn't great. Great facility but that's where it ends for me. A person at the front desk was rude. The technician doing my pedi/mani acted bothered by me. Not friendly at all. And we were there in a bridal party. They didn't really do much to make it special although they did offer us wine. And that was only the technician of one of the four of us. My technician was not gonna offer. And when someone outside the bridal party did not make their appt an hour later than the bridal party, they charged the bride the no show fee. It was clear that the other person was not part of our appt. the receptionist would not budge even though we spent over $300. I am sure they are great most of the time and especially with their hair services. Overpriced and my French mani has already chipped in two places and it has only been four days. read more

My family and I just moved to the beach and were looking for a new place to make into our regular salon. As most people do, we looked online to figure out where to go and Hairoics had pretty decent ratings and reviews. I went to their Facebook page and noticed that they were advertising a free haircut! How perfect was that? So my mother in law and I both signed up for a free haircut. We got an e-mail confirmation that we would get a call to schedule our appointments. One week went by, two weeks went by, three weeks have gone by. Not a peep. They might be the best hair stylists on the island but I will never find that out. I can't say enough good things about this place! My best friend had her bridal party get their hair and makeup done here last week before her wedding. They were able to do 3-4 people at a time. We had a fairly large group, so while we were waiting, the gave us large counter space and an area to enjoy snacks and refreshments. They also did makeup for the bride and touched up a botched manicure. All of the staff was friendly and super accommodating. The location is convenient and the space is clean. What could have been a hectic pre-wedding time was actually relaxing and enjoyable. The owner even spent some time chatting with us and just 5 minutes with him tells you that he really enjoys what he does. I would recommend Hairoics to anyone looking for a professional hair/makeup/nail experience. read more

Awesome fun friendly staff! They are always up to date on current styles and color. I scheduled a appointment with Debbie to cut my daughters hair.. I was a bit nervous that my daughter wanted to cut 10 inches off. Debbie made is painless and my daughter loved the cut. I love to visit their Spa. They offer Facials, microdermabrasion, fabulous massage therapists, and body treatments. All their therapists are professional and highly skilled. Their shop is a great place to get gifts or to pamper yourself. The owners are wonderful people and make you feel like you are part of the family. I highly recommend Hairoics! read more

I have mid length straight hair with bangs, no special cut, just straight across. The one thing I spoil myself with is a blowout after a shampoo and trim. It takes maybe an hour and a half all total from shampoo to drying. When I walked to the cash register to pay I got a huge reality check. Yes this place is very pretty and the staff is pleasant, but I wasn't expecting the price I was charged; $70!!! That works out to about $35/hour. Way more than I make at work. At that price I couldn't even tip my hairdresser. The location is central and there's plenty of parking. There's also an elevator if you can't do stairs. The shop in front offers a wide,though very spendy, array of beauty products and they don't keep you waiting long for your appointment. They also offer massage and hair waxing. If you're going to go here for a haircut I'd recommend asking for a price when you make the appointment. I wish I had. read more

I came into hairoics to get my hair done while on vacation. My stylist was extremely rude and barely spoke to me the entire time she was working on my hair. I made an appointment in requesting full highlight and cut. When I left my hair was barely even what would be considered a partial highlight. I have very thick hair and my stylist barely used even enough foils to highlight even the thinnest of hair. The foils bled all over making it extremely splotchy and streaky. The color looked orange even though asked for a light blonde color. I have never hated my hair or been this disappointed in my life. I even contacted the owner personally to let her know what kind of poor service her shop was providing. I specifically said that I was NOT looking for my money back or anything in return. Just, as a business owner myself, that she would want to know what is going on in her business. I emailed her twice and never once received any reply. Not only was this place way over priced but seriously the worst experience I've ever had in a hair salon in my life. I paid $140 for my hair to look like a 5 year old painted random streaks and spots all over it. I would never recommend this salon to anyone and would advise you go any where else but there if you need your hair done in the outer banks. read more

This place has a lot of potential but it definitely missed the mark for me. I am a salon owner and professional cosmetologist of 18yrs and wanted to treat myself to a little pampering while on vacation. I chose Hairoics because of the high-end feel and that my husband was able to get a 90min massage $115 (which was fantastic) while I was scheduled for an ultimate mani/ped $90. Let's start with the pedi since it was better than the mani. Everything appeared to be clean and sterilized. Nice comfortable massaging chair. The (esthetician) doing my nails was very nice. Cut, filed and trimmed toes beautifully. Exfoliated, masked and a half ass massage that was so disappointing because that is the best part. Paraffin treatment not worth it. OPI color selection was horrible. Thank God I brought my own polish. Polished toes better than fingers but not great. Mani- I decided to get shellac polish which I think threw the tech her off a bit... I politely asked if she had time for that in her schedule and said if she didn't then it really was okay and I would get regular polish. She said she had time but I could totally feel her rushing. At this point I felt like I was in my own salon rushing to slap polish on my nails before my next client walks in. Completely not relaxing! So bad that I wanted to leave... OR finish my own nails. About the Polish., I am pretty anal, so it's definitely hard to please me in the nail polishing department but this was absolutely horrifying. See pics attached. After having a terrible hair experience in my hometown right before my wedding (destination in the OBX), I had to seek out someone correct my highlights. Hairoics was recommended to me, and I couldn't have been happier with the result! First, they took me on the same day that I called - about 15 minutes later actually - it was so nice that they squeezed me in. Then Elizabeth did such a wonderful job and made me feel at ease while doing the highlighting. As she was blow drying my hair, I knew that my hair would actually look close to what I had envisioned on my wedding day (natural highlights instead of the streaky mess that I received at home). Went here with a bridal party. The bride and I both got acrylic nails while the rest of the party got simple manicures, and we all got pedicures. Even though we had an appointment, it didn't seem like they were staffed properly for our group. One bridesmaid didn't get her mani or pedi until the rest of us were completely finished, so of course the rest of us had to sit around for a long time. Overall, the nail salon is very overpriced. Many of my acrylics broke within a week, and that's a first for me! Very disappointing since I paid double what I'd normally pay for nails. The pedicure felt rushed, but perhaps that's because the technician felt rushed since one bridesmaid was still waiting. My sister even later commented it looked like I'd given myself the pedicure. 5.5 hours and I got nothing I wanted. I paid $200 to have my hair burnt, my scalp burnt, my hair cut uneven, and my color looks like stripes on my head. The stylist was inexperienced and it seemed the entire salon knew she shouldnt be doing my hair as they stared and cattily made whispered comments while watching her do my hair. Yes I noticed. I went in for highlights with thin chunks of red and a long layered cut with a long bang, she cut 4 inches off no layers and my only bang is from hair loss on the left side which was severely damaged. I already had highlights from a different salon last year so the color really shouldnt have been an issue. The young lady started foiling my hair and stacking it in a way which told me my roots were not being included which I questioned. When she got to the left side and was done it was less that 10 min and the foils were hot and burning my skin the owner noticed the dripping and came over to check he realized what was happening and called over more stylist to help remove the foils quickly my hair was smoking. I was then brought to the sinks and had my hair washed with freezing cold water, then a multitude of conditioning chemicals were put on my hair to try and stop the damage. We went back to the chair to finish the cut and instead she trimmed 4 inches which is completely uneven and sheared through the damage to make a bang which is not at all what I got. I would have been better off throwing the $200 in the toilet. My hair is burnt, cut wrong and the color is uneven and not complete. I blame the owner for allowing an inexperienced stylist to perform a job that costs hundreds of dollars and she was not prepared or capable. I doubt this will be remedied because if they cared about their clients this would not have happened especially to a new client who specified exactly what I wanted and that I was in need of a new regular salon. read more

On vacation in OBX, I called and got prenatal massage appointments for both a friend and I the next day. This was October, which is off-season. Reception was polite and professional. The waiting lounge for the massage area was clean and comfortable. The massage therapist, Caroline, talked to me about my trouble spots and got got right to work. The massage was incredibly relaxing and she managed to take care of all my tension. She even had a special maternity pillow so I could lay on my stomach without discomfort and she could work on my back. I found the experience top-notch and well-worth the reasonable price.
