AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! Buckle up, folks, you're in for a ride…read more I started going to Crozet Family Dental around 2018 and originally loved it. The office staff was amazing (shout out to Brittany, it seemed like the whole place fell apart when she left), the hygienists were fantastic, and I loved my dentist. Around the time that Brittany left, my dentist did as well. I don't know what happened. They then went through a string of dentists. The office staff got progressively less knowledgeable and less capable of handling anything other than what was directly in front of their faces. But the nightmare story I have for you is about Invisalign. I only needed a minor adjustment, they didn't think it would take more than a few months. They told me what insurance would pay, I set up a payment plan for the rest and paid it off over the course of a year. The following year, my insurance changed. I called Crozet Family Dental at the beginning of January to update it. I spoke to them on the phone a few weeks later and they still had the old one on file. I updated it with them again. When I came in for my appointment, they still had the old insurance on file. I updated it with them AGAIN. It was then that they billed my insurance for the Invisalign. It was a new calendar year. I think they were supposed to bill the old insurance, but instead, they told my new insurance that they were my secondary and that I had double coverage. This led to a nightmare. It took me hours over the course of multiple phone calls to coordinate between the two insurance companies so that they could confirm with one another when my coverage ended. Both insurance companies confirmed we were all set. Crozet Family Dental confirmed we were all set. I confirmed with them again in person that we were all set. Fast forward two or three years. I hadn't finished Invisalign yet because it took the dentist 4-8 months on average to get my trays (on multiple occasions I called and asked if my trays were in, was told no, and found out later they had been in since before I called. Then they would chastise me for not calling and asking. It was honestly like I was being punked every time I communicated with them.) I received a text message from Crozet Family Dental telling me I had a balance. I texted back and asked why. Then I called. I spoke with someone who told me she had been looking at my file because of my text message, and that the reason I had a balance was because insurance wasn't paying for my Invisalign. But before I even said anything, she said it didn't make any sense and that regardless, I shouldn't be on the hook for the balance. She said she would look into it. I did not hear another word from them regarding billing. That was several months ago. I have now finished my Invisalign. Today, I received the following text message: Hello, this is Eva at Crozet Family Dental. You have a balance that is past due. Insurance has closed your claim and denied any further payments. I will let you know that we did try on multiple occasions to try and appeal their decision. I will advise that this balance is dated and accounts are being reviewed to be sent to collections. Please use this secure link to pay: I texted back several questions and did not get a response. In conclusion: Crozet Family Dental incorrectly billed my insurance and wants me to be on the hook for it four years later. They haven't even had a conversation with me about it but are telling me they'll send it to collections. This place is not worth your time or your money. Go elsewhere.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is another dental practice that was bought and is now managed…read moreby a hedge fund. They target young dental school grads just getting started on their own since they aren't as likely to mind being told how to run a practice. I simply wanted to have fewer X-rays taken and was told that that wasn't an option, it was all 18 or treatment would be withheld. Reasons were given that weren't convincing and since the teeth in question are mine, I feel the final decision is mine. I told the assistants that I didn't appreciate being pressured to go against my considered decision to minimize the radiation by not X-rayig my front teeth. It's almost impossible to get a cavity in front teeth. I've never had one. And thus my visit was cut short; probably a good thing. However, they wasted my time and I didn't appreciate their intransigence.
