Okay, so toward the end of July, I was hanging out with my cousin and we were trying to figure out what to eat. We were in the mood for a gyro plate, something simple, something good. She suggested Halal Chicks because she had ordered from them before and said their chicken over rice was really good. So I'm like, alright, let's try it. And honestly? It was really good. Like, genuinely delicious. I ordered the chicken over rice platter, and the portion size was huge. It came with the chicken over rice, fries, salad, and pita--everything you want your platter to have. And let me tell you, I ate off that thing for two days. The flavor was there, the seasoning was seasoned-ing, and everything tasted super fresh. Now, let's talk about the fries because oh my God... their fries are everything. I love a good fry, and these fries hit every mark--crispy, seasoned, and a great portion. The salad was fresh, the pitas were perfect (I love me some chopped pitas), and they give you all the sauces--white sauce, BBQ, hot sauce--so you can really make it how you want it. We DoorDashed ours from the Heights location, and even with delivery, everything held up beautifully. Fresh, flavorful, hot--no complaints. And listen, I really don't think you can go wrong with halal food. Chicken over rice is one of those things that, when done right, it just hits. And Halal Chicks did not miss at all. I also looked into them a bit and saw that they're minority-owned and locally sourced, which makes me love them even more. Especially in today's climate, supporting our local and minority-owned businesses is important. They're showing up for the community, so let's show up for them. Overall, food was great. First of all they are open very late hours which I absolutely love. Got chicken over rice with hot sauce, curly fries, red velvet cake, 'home-made organic sweet,' and pita with hummus spread. I got the chicky fries (apparently their most popular item), halal chicken over rice and lamb over rice. The chicky fries were tasty and indulgent. It's breaded fried chicken chopped up over a bed of seasoned fries and doused in sauce. The fries were a bit soggy but that's probably because of takeout and would taste better when fresh. This dish is popular for a reason because it tasted good and loaded with carbs and fats. The serving size is huge and I couldn't finish in one sitting so it's well worth the $14.99 price. The halal chicken and lamb over rice was pretty standard. They cost more than at halal carts but I noticed they really stuffed the box with meat and rice. The breading is thin and the chicken is an all star. These guys are an actual threat to Wingstop! Give them your money instead, especially for their sauces! Absolutely amazing. The food is good, don't get me wrong. But the customer service is completely dependent on who is behind the counter. I came in a week or so ago, and the man behind the counter was so kind, and made sure we were accommodated so well and even gave us a sample of the falafel with our chicken meal when we were debating between chicken and falafel. Ensured that we got all the toppings & proper amounts of each sauce that we wanted. Incredible!! I came back a week later today, after walking my dog. (He was with me my first order as well.) after ordering and waiting 10 minutes for my meal, my 8lb dog barked once. (I told him to be quiet at sit.) the kid, who had been there the whole time and even greeted us, behind the counter all of a sudden told me that there are no pets allowed (I literally waited, ordered and waited again. Being inside for 15+ mins) and told me to wait outside in the rain. When they told told me to come back inside to pick up my food, I asked to get toppings. They told me that they were in there already. I asked for sauce and salad toppings, and was told again they were already on there. I opened the bag to show them that there was no topping or sauce on my meat&salad, and that I would like the toppings that I paid for as well as white and hot sauce. When they gave me 2oz containers of the toppings and sauces, I asked for more white sauce. They said they wouldn't get me more unless I paid extra. I will not be coming back here again.
