My friend and I came to PJ Clarke's to watch the Knicks in the NBA Finals, and despite the disappointing outcome of the game, we had a great night. We were thrilled to find two seats at the end of the bar when we arrived. As luck would have it, the two gentlemen next to us eventually left, allowing us to slide over and enjoy an even better view of the TV for the rest of the game. I started with a Tito's and club soda, but unfortunately, something seemed off--perhaps the club soda was flat. The drink just wasn't good. To their credit, the bartender took it back without hesitation and was very accommodating. I then ordered a Negroni after the woman sitting next to us highly recommended it. I don't usually drink gin, but this cocktail was absolutely delicious and changed my mind. Since we were there for several hours, we shared an order of zucchini and eggplant chips and happily snacked on them throughout the game. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, with a nice mix of ages and people enjoying the evening. We made sure to leave our bartender a generous tip since we occupied our seats for the entire game. Even though the Knicks didn't pull out a win that night, we certainly didn't leave defeated. I'd happily return for another game, cocktail, and fun evening out. And maybe even get dinner there. Little did I know there was another big room in the ack once you past the restrooms. Always been a fan of PJ Clarke's! I used to always catch the tall brunette male bartender who gave excellent service. He was constantly busy zippin around but maintained a nice demeanor and made everyone feel welcome! Must orders of mine: the burger! Although small, it comes out piping hot and the fresh white onion between the bottom bun and burger is awesome because it doesn't make the bottom bun soggy and catches all the juices from the actual meat. Love subbing the fries for a Caesar salad! Standout appetizer is the fried zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki-- crispy, hot, juicy and I get it every time! read more

Came here mostly for the history and old-school NYC vibe, but honestly, it didn't quite live up to the expectation. We were seated at this awkward table right by the oyster counter--basically tucked under like we were hiding beneath a bar, which didn't feel great. They didn't have the dish we initially wanted, didn't have the beer we asked for, and surprisingly... no Tabasco at an oyster bar? Ended up with the chopped steak and a burger. The chopped steak turned out to be just a burger patty on soggy baguette--not what we imagined. Sauce was tasty, but still disappointing if you're expecting, well, steak. The burger was okay, but the bun looked kind of thrown together. Service was slow and not super attentive--we missed our chance to order when the drinks came and had to wait quite a while to flag someone down again. I love this place! Old school business lunch meeting place, but I was just meeting a good friend. I arrived first and let the hostess know that there were 2 of us, she said to let her know when my friend arrived and she would seat us. The place was very busy as it was lunchtime, my friend arrived and we were quickly seated in the back room. Service was quick, I ordered a PJs 1884 Cheeseburger with Bacon and fries. Food came quickly and my burger was awesome, as expected. Perfectly cooked and hot, as were the fries. Service was friendly and attentive, especially given how busy it was. Overall, a great meal, a great place to meet friends and a great place to eat. While there are many good places just like this in NYC, I will defienly come back. read more

This is a Burger joint with a history. Apparently they have been in business since 1884. Casual atmosphere with plastic table cloths and lots of vintage Pics on wall. We arrived Sunday 5:15pm Ordered our food at 5:20. At 5:30 Cauliflower side came but it was cold so we sent it back At 5:43, the food arrived An extensive and varied menu with seafood , pasta and much more. We heard they were known for their burgers so we went with that. We ordered the Jalapeño burger and the three slider assortment. The Sliders, ordered "medium" were a bit dry. The Bottom Buns on all of the burgers were soggy so we just ate around them by eating insides with a fork. The Frys were dry and cool as if they had been pre-cooked and sitting under a heat lamp for over an hour. 6:09 we paid about $140 (with tip) and left. Although there is some attraction because they are an iconic NYC restaurant , I don't think PJ Clarkes is anything special. High prices with Mediocre service and mediocre food. read more

We checked in at the front for our reservation and noticed there was no one sitting outside, so we asked the host if we could and he told us we needed to go outside and talk to the server there to be sat. So that's what we did. When we got to the server we told her that there was 2 for outside, she had an attitude right from the jump " you need to go talk to the host" we told her we did so she sat us. The rest of the time there so was so ignorant. We would say thank you for bringing us stuff and she was just roughly set it on the table and not say anything. We had a table next to us so we could hear their interactions and she was very nice to them. She didn't come and see if we needed refills, another cocktail or if the food was good the entire time. The table next to us was done and she nicely walked over and asked if there was anything else she could do or if they wanted dessert. I sat for 10 more minutes without a single plate in the table. When she finally comes back she just outs the check on the table and stands there. I've come to this place many times and had amazing service, this girl Gabrielle L has ruined my experience. Our office party was held a couple of weeks ago at this location. From the minute you walk through the door on the second floor, the excellent service starts with the coat check lady. Their hor dourves were so delicious. I actually stood across from the bar and tried every hor dourves that came out. The servers were so friendly and attentive. I ordered a Cranberry Orange juice, but I will have to ask if they have a bottle of Moscato D'Asti next year. The buffet was set out very nicely on the other side of the floor. I think I got on line too early because I ended up with a well done piece of the Prime Rib. I will have to ask for a slice in the middle next year, I like it medium rare. I came here for happy hour one day after work. The service was ok. It could have been better. They don't let you sit in the back room unless you are ordering off the menu. P.J. Clarke's has been on my list for the longest time. I finally had an excuse to be in the area this past Friday night and I committed to making it our dinner spot. Knowing it was a Friday, I called ahead to find out the average wait time. They were really nice on the phone and told me it shouldn't be a long wait around 7:30. We arrived at 6:45, and they said the wait was 45min. More than 1.5hrs later, we were finally seated. I didn't have a problem waiting, but I would've appreciated a more accurate wait time. We had shrimp cocktail, zucchini chips, and crab cake to start. The favorite was definitely the crab cake. It was large, delicious, and the slaw underneath was very very good. I chose the Clarke Burger that had bacon - delicious, would definitely order again. I ordered medium, it came more medium well (I actually prefer it more on the medium well side). A great burger, but not the top ten that I've had. I'd definitely come back to P.J. Clarke's, but probably not on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday unless I have a reservation. read more
