chicken wings wrapped in tin foil
    Crystal L.

First time ordering from here and it def. won't be my last. My boyfriend told me this restaurant had great wings so I knew I had to order. Of course I had to order fried jumbo shrimp as well! Only thing I didn't like was that there was no blue cheese for the wings & no soda that was supposed to come with the wing meal with fries & soda. I can't wait to order from here again and try new wings and different dishes!

There's a camaraderie in the room that invites you to slow down, connect, and truly experience both the conversation and the food. Everything feels considered. My best friend and I each ordered the prix fixe menu, and it was a journey from start to finish. I began with the Spicy Corn & Coconut Soup--honestly, unforgettable. The crispy shallots added just the right amount of texture against the velvety base, and each spoonful layered flavor in a way that felt both comforting and elevated. For my main, I had the kichuri, and Chef Alex Guzman absolutely shines here. He is a star--full stop. There's a clarity and confidence in his cooking that you can taste. The cilantro chutney was perfection, and the way the mint lingers alongside the spice... it's the kind of balance that only comes from someone who truly understands their craft. You can feel his care in every bite. I ended with the key lime pie, and all I can say is thank you. The whipped cream was fresh and airy, the lime zest bright without overpowering, and the crust tied everything together beautifully. It felt like a thoughtful, intentional close to an already incredible meal. I highly recommend starting with the guava mocktail, then pairing your main with the fig mocktail--both are perfectly crafted and complement the dishes so well. Also, sit at the bar. Let Dan guide you through the experience. Trust his recommendations--you will not be steered wrong. He elevates the entire evening. And the playlist? Y'all really did that.

The place has a cozy vibe and feels truly welcoming. I ordered the plain cheeseburger, with sweet potato fries and the limeade. The food came out pretty quickly. The best part about my dining experience was getting the pleasure of meeting the owner Yvette. Yvette is a true character, who has lived in the neighborhood for many years and knows her stuff. She's clearly passionate about the food and the community. She was able to give me great advice and information about work related issues. Both were fried, but surprisingly not greasy, which was great and didn't leave me feeling guilty for eating them during the same meal. The sautéed greens and jerk mushrooms were to die for. The service was super helpful and we went for a few of their most popular dishes. Jerk mushrooms and Brussels sprouts: I'm putting them together because I found similar problems in both. First, they came at room temperature and tasted like they were barely reheated... not a good start. Second, both lacked flavor... tastes very plain. Last - just my opinion - I don't think the ingredients in both appetizers worked well together. I didn't enjoy either of them. Codfish fritters: disappointing. A very small serving of fritters that tastes like they had very little cod in them. They were more doughy than fishy. Branzino: although the fish was delicate and cooked perfectly, I wasn't a fan of the butter peri-peri sauce, which I found (again) lacking flavor. Hot honey fried: this was a solid dish, and the batter was sweet, spicy and crunchy as advertised. Overall, after reading the reviews my expectations were high. However, I'm not gonna lie, I was disappointed. Almost everything we ordered had problems, and considering their high price tag ($150 for the above), we were expecting more creativity and surely much higher quality. Sadly, I can't say I'd return, mostly because after having their most popular dishes, I'm not curious to taste other options on their menu.

Called twice, and while the staff answering the phone were certainly polite and respectful, they could only tell me that the order was "in their system and out for delivery". They could not track the driver, who they said was driving "multiple routes" (whatever that means). That makes zero sense. Weather was pleasant. Roads were clear. It was a Sunday evening, not the busiest time of the week for sure. No major sporting events on TV. No excuse. When the food finally arrived (almost 90 minutes late), the burgers were ice cold, and the shakes were drippy soup. I really want to support local business, but it's hard to do that when a very simple delivery order (only $50) is too much for them to handle. And one would think that, at the very least, some sort of refund or gift card would be in order for this inexplicable failure on their part. Nope. Nada. Sorry, but I cannot recommend Harlem Shake. Order from them at your own risk. You would be wise to eat a meal first.
