I stopped in here for a lunch break from work one day with my husband. It was a nice spot. The food was really tasty, even better than expected. I would definitely return when around the area again. There's some indoor seating which was convenient.

    Great design.

Finally decided to try this establishment while in the area. They have great LED signs on the walls around the shop that are lit up. The space itself is pretty big with plenty of seating available & a bathroom available for paying customers. We ordered a chicken platter of course, as that's one of the first things to order when trying a new Halal spot. We also ordered some onion rings, 5 count chicken tenders, falafel balls & "spicy chicken" sandwich. As it was my 1st time checking this place out, I did not know that they don't cover their chicken tenders. I ended up asking for buffalo sauce on the side to dip, as well as some blue cheese, & ranch. The staff had no issues providing me with any sauce quantity. If you know me, you know love a good amount of dipping options. I also grabbed their white, red, & green sauces to drizzle because why not? Those are the trio for their platters in my opinion. The chicken tenders alone were good and not dry but some of the coating did fall off. Very much enjoyed the chicken platter with French fries to top it all off. The onion rings were regular degular to me. Their falafel balls were pretty good accompanied by their white sauce. I also felt that the "spicy" chicken sandwich wasn't spicy what so ever. It had a slight smokey flavor instead of spicy. There's also some cake slices available if you wanted something sweet to go. Since this visit I've already returned once, it has yet to disappoint! Really worth a try, if I do say so myself!

We recently visited Halal Minxhies after always stopping to get gas next door and being curios. Curiosity got the best of me and we finally be tired in after a long day! We ordered their fish sandwich, mixed grill platter, wings and hummus with pita. My fav was def the mixed grill platter, it's beautiful but the meat was SO tender which is hard to come by with the cubed cut but very much appreciated! We also liked their hearty wings - a meal unto themselves. The fish sandwich was ok, fish was good quality but it could've used some sort of sauce or aioli. Surprisingly I didnt like their hummus and pita. The pita was tough and didn't taste fresh and the hummus had an unappealing flavor. The good news is I'd go back and try their palates and gyros again along with those crispy fries!

The service here is really good - the folks behind the counter are never stingy about filling your "platter" & giving extra sauce. Super friendly service & working fast to make customers happy. Would recommend if you're craving this type of food!

We finally made our way to this restaurant on a Sunday night and took the advice of prior posters by ordering chicken over rice with white sauce that included both french fries and salad. Though ample seating was available, we chose takeout and found the portion size on returning home to be such that neither of us could finish our meals. Prices are more than reasonable and the flavor profile was deemed so good that a return visit is considered a given.

This is a great addition to the town of Berlin! I'm so happy it's less than 3 minutes away from my house. I went on Friday 7/12 and ordered the chicken over rice with the white sauce and hot sauce on the side. It was delicious. I went back Sunday 7/14 and had the lamb over rice and added a couple falafel balls for some crunch. It was excellent as well. The owner is very friendly and has a very bright and clean restaurant. I wish them luck but I don't think they'll need it.

First time ever hearing about Dave's Hot Chicken. We happened to be in the area and someone in our…read moregroup raved about it. Got the #2. Comes with 2 chicken sandwiches and fries. Chicken was huge and super crispy. Fries are crinkle cut dusted with seasoning. Found that the fry amount was a bit smaller in portion size compared to the chicken. I mean maybe it's the actually serving size but let's be real. Fries are also a main course. So we ordered a large box of fries. The three of us (who didn't eat the #2 meal) killed the fries quickly. Mixed 2 packets of the Dave's sauce (it's like equivalent to 5 ketchup packets) with 2 ketchup packets . Mmm perfect. Saw a lot of Muslim patrons here. I was curious and looked it up. The chicken at Dave's is halal. KFC and chic fil a aren't. Looking at you KFC and chic fil a. More patrons would come to eat at your establishments if you served halal foods. Clearly from my ONE time eating at Dave's I could see that Muslim people like fried chicken too. DUH! Good job Dave's. I mean it didn't affect me in any way but it made me feel good that Dave's did something right. Will definitely be coming to Dave's Hot Chicken again!

I will preface by saying I arrived 30 minutes before closing, which may upset some employees, but the way my food was handled was completely uncalled for. I ordered 4 Dave's hot chicken sliders -- two mild, two hot. I sat in the restaurant for 40 mins waiting for an order that typically takes 10 to prepare. I did not make a fuss or complain until the last 5 minutes of the 40, when I walked over and saw the kitchen staff horsing around with my food. I inquired about the status of my order, and they said, "it'll be out in a moment." At this moment, I saw them chuck the boxes into the plastic bag, and pour the hot oil and seasoning on top of my box, with the cashier saying to the food preparer, "Bruh, that's horrible." I then finally received my meal. It should also be stated I was not the only person here at this time, as there were several other customers patiently waiting for their food. As I was leaving, another customer went up asking, "I've been here half an hour for a single chicken slider, what's the holdup?" I hoped that this story would end here, but when I opened my hot chicken sliders, I found that the chicken had been left cold and unseasoned, at which point I realized the bit with the throwing boxes, chili oil and seasoning on the boxes was a middle finger to me.

Huge portions, unfriendly service, and clean seating area…read more Ordered the falafel gyro with white and coriander sauces, as well as the pakora chips The portion size of the gyro was huge, and it was absolutely delicious. It was also very aesthetically appealing, and I was sorry I didn't snap a picture. The pakora chips were tasty, but reminded me of potato wedges more than South Asian style pakoras. If I were to go back, I would get the pakora chips, but they are definitely misleadingly labelled. Shah's appears to be more of a takeout spot than a dine-in restaurant, but the seating area and restroom were spotless. The establishment is also very conveniently located, and ample parking was available on a weekday evening, though I am unsure about weekends. The person who took our order and assembled the gyros was not very warm or welcoming, though they were efficient. At one point, I felt sorry for having intruded into the establishment. At a place where dine-in is an option, that should not be the case. Overall, I would get take-out from here if I'm in the city again (the food is reasonably priced) but do not plan to dine-in.

Shah's Halal Food is a chain of fast-casual Halal restaurants that launched in Queens, New York in…read more2005. It was founded by Afghan immigrant Ibrahim Mashriqi and his two business partners Shafiq "Shah" Mashriqi and Rahimullah Mashriqi. The business began with a simple food cart that would set up each day at the corner of 121st Street and Liberty Avenue in the Richmond Hill section of Queens. All of the food was prepared at home, using a small kitchen and a garage. The core menu items became their signature chicken and rice platters, gyros, chicken sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks, hot wings, and burgers. Pretty soon they couldn't keep up with the supply and demand, and more food carts started popping up around Queens. As their popularity continued to grow, the brand shifted from food carts to brick & mortar restaurants. By 2016, Ibrahim's son Khalid Mashriqi took over as CEO of the company and took over all business operations. The company is a family affair, with nearly 60% of the corporate staff made up of members of the Mashriqi family. As of 2025, there are more than 90 Shah's locations in the U.S. and more than 150 worldwide. My family and I visited Shah's Middletown location this past summer while we were in the area. This location, the fifth Shah's to open in Connecticut, opened in September 2023. Mashriqi family members Rafi Mashriqi and Mohammad Mashriqi own and operate all of the Connecticut locations. My family and l had previously ordered food from the New Haven location and loved it. For this lunch occasion, my wife and I ordered and shared the "Chicken" and "Falafel" Salad Platters while our two sons shared a "Chicken Sandwich", "Chicken Nuggets" and "French Fries". As with our previous experience in New Haven, the food at the Middletown location was delicious! I also made sure to order a couple containers of Shah's famous "White Sauce" to take home. We plan on visiting Shah's locations again and again!
