My first time here, first time having Greek food. Went with a friend who has been to Greece several times. We were greeted as soon as we got through the door. Not a very large place, but definitely enough room for those that want to sit inside for thier meal. Very nice area outside with tables and umbrellas also. The food....amazing!! It came out fast, and brought directly to our table, with courtesy and care. I had the pork gyro platter. It was delicious! Very generous amount of meat, the tzatziki sauce you could tell was freshly made. Included was a salad, that had Kalamata olives, as well as big chunks of feta cheese! It's a cute place - it's kind of placed randomly as part of a larger plaza which is very quiet on. Saturday. It was a quiet place overall but people came in and out for takeout. Parking is therefore pretty good, and there is outdoor and indoor seating. There are picnic tables outside, and regular tables and chairs inside. There is a restroom. The food was ready quickly. The hummus had a little kick to it, more then say a store brand. The crazy Greek gyro was huge. The sauce had something I didnt care for texture wise, but the taste was good . The chicken was savory. I ordered the crazy pita with chicken souvlaki and extra tzatziki plus feta. I also got a combo pita with beef/lamb gyro and falafel with added humus and feta. The flavors were incredible! I thought by ordering a "large tzatziki " for $2 meant I'd get it as a side. The other add ons were $1 like feta or humus so that was kind of strange. Also, the fries were missing from the crazy gyro. The prices were a bit high. There were no other customers so I really would expect my order to be correct. They were friendly and I did go back and ask for the fries to be added. The Galaktoboureko was tasty but a bit too soggy. Pricing has definitely gotten a little bit high $17-$18 for a salad that doesn't have many ingredients. I don't go nearly as often as I used to because of that. Not trying to spend dinner prices on lunch. Also last time I tried the falafel platter that had tahini sauce on it. The sauce got all over everything and it was bad I tried to wipe it off but it ruined the meal. It tasted like spoiled clay weird texture and crackly maybe went bad (if you can imaging whatever that would taste like). Don't get the tahini sauce. I would prefer the Tzatziki. If you or somebody you know dislikes sushi rolls because they're hard to fit in your mouth, you may want to avoid the Crazy Gyro at Crazy Greek. It's HUGE! It's the Primanti Brothers of Gyros. The San Diego Style Burrito of Gyros. If you don't know what that means, in addition to the normal filling like gyro meat, tomatoes, red onion, peppers and tsastziki, it's topped with French Fries. A lot of fries. It was delicious. Not to bury the lead, the reason I visited Crazy Greek for the second time (and first in years) is that Crazy Greek made the 2022 CT Yelp Top 25 Places to Eat List, and I've been trying to hit as many of those places as possible. It's in a small building with an open grill and kitchen. There are a few tables inside and a few tables outside, but they have a busy takeout business as well. I ordered ahead. My food was ready as I arrived. I ate outside while taking pics. In addition to the gyro, I ordered a falafel platter for my wife and baklava. I sampled the falafel and salad and both were good. Good food, quick service, and we liked it. We came by for a pickup dinner -- they have a few inside tables and a small outside seating area -- and came away very happy with the experience. The chicken souvlaki platter ($16.25) was a lot of tasty food including the tender chicken, fries, and a Greek salad filled with yummy feta cubes. First class! A quality Greek restaurant in the area, good for lunch but not for a large group. I ordered the falafel pita, which was a good amount of food, especially for the price. The falafel was *decent*, nothing too memorable but I thought all of the flavors came together nicely. Ingredients were fresh. Interior of the place is very small, on a Thursday lunch hour the place was packed and we had to wait a bit to grab a table for 2 and had to borrow a chair from another table. Very small place (about 4 tables to sit at inside) but most people get take out (although I eat inside because I'm from out of town but still come usually when I'm in town). Everything I've tried as been very good - the feta they use is really creamy and a little less salty than other places, which I appreciate. My usual go-to is a greek salad or Horiatiki (greek salad minus the lettuce - more of a focus on cucumber) topped with a meat. Chicken souvlaki and beef/lamb gyro meat is very good. They have baklava and they're huge pieces and I usually don't have room for dessert when I'm done eating. The portions are pretty big. read more

I got the chicken souvlaki sandwich and my bf got the crazy gyro which is basically regular beef/lamb gyro but with fries stuffed in it. All of our food was made fresh to order which I love. There's 1 or 2 tables inside and at least 6 picnic tables outside. If you want a quick insanely tasty lunch this is the perfect option. They have baklava too which looked great. Crazy Greek is a must try if you're in the area & need something fast casual. They really are so quick about making food! I usually get the Greek salad or one of the platters. The falafel and chicken or the Gyro and shrimp platter is so good. Their tzatziki really knocks it out of the park too! They are so friendly. There's not a lot of seating for larger parties inside. "Crazy Tasty" One of my best friends is Greek. He also happens to be a talented chef. So I've had very good Greek food over the years. I'd like to take him to the Crazy Greek someday because I think that he would be impressed by the food as much as I am. I went for lunch and had the Avgolemono soup. It's a very good chicken soup with rice, lemon, and egg. I also had the Spanakopita. A spinach and feta cheese pie. The phyllo crust of the pie was crisp, flaky and golden brown and had a rich flavorful spinach and feta cheese filling. Delicious ! My only disappointment was that I didn't see the Crazy Greek. Have been waiting a while to try this place after reading all the reviews since it is a ways away from us. We were near the area yesterday trying to figure out lunch, and thankfully I remembered. All I can say is 'Wow!' My son and I each ordered the crazy gyro. Sooooooooo good! Real gyros sliced fresh from the spit!!! I doesn't get any better than this. Warm pita, cool toppings, and delicious meat. Tzatziki sauce had the perfect amount of garlic. The dine-in area was small but clean and you get your food very quickly. I also got the avgolemono soup, which knocked my socks off--lots of chicken and rice and the broth had the savory, lemony taste that I was craving. We will be back! read more

This is my personal sweet spot for Greek fare, and possibly for restaurants in general: not a sit-down, upscale-ish place (Mykonos on the turnpike), and not a chain with the life sucked out of it (*cough* The Simple Greek), but a sleeves-up joint with zero pretension, serving up big portions of fresh, invigorating food that will stick in your memory and draw you back. It's a newer place, and you can feel some of the energy behind it - the desire to establish and solidify a reputation, simply by doing a damned good job... and they do. No gimmicks, no cut corners, heck, not even ambience. Just piles of honest deliciousness. Eat, enjoy, and then return in a week or so. My one suggestion, as a hot sauce lover, would be to have several small bottles available for use, rather than one master bottle up at the counter. read more

A couple coworkers and i recently went to hit one of our favorite Mexican joints Salsa Southwest Grill in the next town over, only to be greeted with...NOT Salsa's! Apparently they had moved across the street to a strip mall that had more space, which is totally okay by me. We barely gave the new place "The Crazy Greek" a passing glance before crossing the street to get our Burrito on. A few months went by and I was purusuing the Yelp one day only to have the same Crazy Greek place pop up as a recommendation...intrigued. It didn't take long for me to set up another lunch pilgrimage, this time we would NOT be crossing the street! Outside the place is pretty similar to when Salsa's was there, a few tables, umbrella's, cozy. I mean, it's next to a pretty busy road so I'll usually pass on that, but if you're an outside eater, it's quaint. The inside had been changed a bit layout-wise, but similar deal; counter ordering, a few tables, nice. There were a handful of people there and we went right up to the counter. Menu is very simple and not too large, which I love. I went with the Greek Salad with lamb, and my cohorts got a mix of standard and "Crazy" gyros (fries RIGHT in the gryo, sick). Food came out quickly and looked amazing. I will say this, I've eaten lamb and gyros at greek fest's and 100 different greek restaurants, and this was in the top 2 or 3 of all time. Freshly shaved, tender, a bit of a crisp on the edge. Amazing. Pitas were fresh and fluffy and the salad was equally as fresh tasting. Literally nothing bad to say here. It's quick, reasonably priced, and delicious. I would say that if you're within a 15 minute drive, you should be doing lunch here once per week. We've been back 3 times since the initial visit and it continues to impress. And I think that the Greek guy might actually be certifiably crazy, so validation right there! read more

This place is just fantastic. I was in the mood for a gyro and I used Yelp to see what I could find. This place popped up and i decided to try it out. Located in Plantsville, CT, the restaurant is a small place located in a bigger parking lot. You walk in and the owner is playing Greek music, which is charming. The menu appears small, however, packs a punch. It had all my favorites that I had a hard time deciding. I opted for a lamb gyro, which I learned that pork is more common in Greece. My crazy gyro had all the right toppings, textures, and most important taste. I had also ordered a side of tzatziki to go, comes with a warm pita and is quite delicious.
