Drove the island on Sunday to celebrate my first Father's day without my dad. This was my last stop, a nightcap, if you will. The bartender Monica was super sweet and kind. Made great recommendations. I tried the rum neat which was unbelievable smooth and drinkable on it's own, but at Monica's recommendation I order the Lava Lips - SOOO GOOD. My second drink was their Old Fashioned. They make their bitters in-house which is infused with cocao and macadamia nuts. You better believe I bought a bottle of their bitters and have already made a Manhattan at home. So good, so interesting. The place is large, clean, and warmly inviting. We took a last minute impromptu tour of this distillery and we are so glad we did. Anthony and Jojo greeted us right away and were friendly, welcoming and informative during our tour. We got solid tastings of the whiskey and rum along with their in house chocolate bitters which are incredible. My husband got to chat Anthony and Jojo up and ask a lot of questions and neither of them seemed annoyed with having to have conversations and were eager to share their stories and experiences with us! We also learned this is a veteran owned business with veteran employees and my husband being a veteran himself really appreciated his conversation with Anthony. The inside has a comfortable and well decorated vibe and they have a beautiful outdoor patio complete with a cool old Army helicopter. We each had two additional cocktails on top of our tour and all of them were well made. We ended up taking home a bottle of the Rum and a bottle of the Whiskey. This is my second time in Oahu and I had told myself I don't care to come back but this place has a gin they're working on that just might warrant a weekend getaway. If you have the time and are visiting the north shore, stop by the brand new Haleiwa Distilling Co. (They just opened this month) Tucked inside the historic Wailua Sugar Mill, this distillery is an aesthetic masterpiece of rustic charm meets tropical with thoughtful touches throughout. (I mean, they somehow even got a helicopter in there) If you're looking for something unique and traveling to the North Shore, this place should be on your list. Now, let's talk drinks. I'm a sucker for spicy drinks, and Sarah, the bartender, nailed her recommendation with the Lava Lips. This cocktail is my new favorite with both spicy and sweet aspects. Its a mix of Hawaiian chili pepper, pineapple juice, local lime, and of course their signature Mana rum. The balance between the heat and the sweetness was perfect. It was so good, I had to get it again. For those who like something sweeter, the Mana Sunrise was a second favorite. With Lilikoi, banana, and fresh lime, it was refreshing and great to sip on while watching the sunset. The vibe was laid back and a great place to relax; it is a true embodiment of the North Shore. Nate has a cool thing here but hope he can avoid the problem most places in n the north shore face and everyone knows what it is.... The 500lb gorilla nobody wants to talk about. It's the shadiest small town on the planet. The tourist factor hasn't ruined it yet either so get it while you can. So glad it's not yet another smoothie place that you wonder how it stays afloat financially but it does. Haliewa is a place I used to be from. I don't even recommend a visit to anyone now. Hippocrates who wanna act like they care about those who are in need as long as they aren't taken care of in their area. It's the OC of Hawaii. If you do go though this is a must to try out and get on the mailing list so you can avoid ridiculous traffic. read more

What a fun little place. People are nice. They don't have food but next door there are some food trucks. Only downfall drinks are expensive for Haleiwa. Went to some other off the path distillery and they are not as expensive. That would be the only reason why I wouldn't go back for awhile read more

Fun place! Stopped for a beer but the real reason to check it out are the rum and whiskey offerings. Live music was happening and the string lights were lit. I highly recommend Haleiwa Distilling the atmosphere is so chill and inviting, I've been there for karaoke/trivia on Fridays their live music on Saturdays so far and what a blast! They just came out with their whisky and it is delicious. Nate is an amazing guy and super personable. They even have a food truck on their property. It is conveniently located amongst a bunch of other businesses like a coffee shop, handmade soap company, and a general store/knick knack store. Everyone in those places were very nice and great gifts to take home. The distillery was fun! You walk in and are greeted by an old vietnam era helicopter. Nate exudes Passion for his craft! Stopped in to sample the rum, and had a couple of mixed drinks which were tasty. It was so unexpected when he broke out a bottle of whiskey (not on the menu) from a barrel aging for over a year for us to sample, it was really good! Great location and loved the historical military chopper on the patio. Yep, got a few pics of me and a buddy in it taken by a very sweet gal who took a few minutes away from shaking cocktails to make our visit extra special.
