One of the burritos i have ever had! I had the pork traditional burrito. Guac was also amazing. Great place! Would recommend!

I woke up today craving tacos! So I got up, showered and got my work clothes ready and convinced my partner to take me to take a drive to Waialua to Surf n Salsa! It didn't take much convincing by the way since we love the place that much! Today I had the cheese and a potato empanada. It was delicious. I bought three to share and I was already full with one. I also got the cucumber lemonade and Raul got the pineapple jarritos. I drank almost all of it. I ordered two Carne Asada tacos this time without the plate sides because I figured I would be too full with the empanadas and I was right. It was just the right amount. We tried the nachos this time and it was delicious and filling. It was loaded with refried beans and guac and cheese, and all of the fixings. What a great way to start my day. And you know what was even more exciting? We decided to go to the back and check out the distillery for the first time and was impressed by the helicopter that we saw outback. We even got to get a drink while we waited for our food. We were pleasantly surprised to find a very nicely decorated bathroom inside as well. This place has easily become my favorite place. My family is coming by this November and this will be my first stop to introducing them to Hawaii as my favorite place to eat in my new place I call home. read more

Taco salad surf and turf incld. A family of 5 shrimps and was one of the best taco salad I had in a long time. We got there 4pm , You pay in the front, nice staff with warning food may take 45min () but with outrageous determination, we ordered and got food within 25min, beautiful liar. I thought the place was pretty chill, with space to sit outside and hang out, the food have good portions and my burrito was pretty good, although the wife's fish taco was kind of lacking flavor. Quesadilla was good and overall would recommend. The lady at the register wasnt the friendliest but it is what it is. Food took a long time too so be ready to wait. read more

We were recommended this spot by a local when we asked for a good spot nearby for dinner. It was a Tuesday so they had a special for Taco Tuesday. This was the place to be, as we waited close to 30 minutes to order, maybe more. We thought you could pick tacos for the special but they had a taco station in the back of the restaurant where you got to grab the tacos from. We also got a burrito to try. The food was really good! I would say was it worth the long long line? I'm not sure. But they were really good. Everything is still good eating at their new location, I can tell they're still setting up slowly. They don't have menus to look at other than the one on the table when you get to cashier. And The big menu on the wall wasn't up the past few times. Other than that they have the taco station and burrito station up, not sure if they'll have a small menu there in the future for those that don't know about it, but the water station is still there. We came here by recommendation of one of the locals in Haleiwa. Been here for a few weeks and we enjoy finding new local spots that are not touristy. This place definitely exceeded our expectations. Food was great and super fresh. We were glad we came early before the dinner rush. Location and ambiance were also a nice surprise with the way they've laid out their outdoor space. As a Mexican, I find it hard to find good Mexican food on island. This however, is the closest I've gotten to cali tacos on island. Tortillas are handmade, meat is well cooked (seasoned correctly) and service is great! Parking: Plenty that is shared with other food truck businesses. Cost: $6 a taco seems pricey at first but these are big boys! 1 taco, 1 torta, 1 jarito came out to $27. I was plenty full! However, after today interaction with individual that was calling our food VERY RUDE! I will not be supporting this business. They aren't local or native. I definitely don't have the Lord spirit. Cute Mexican food truck on the north shore. Not on the side of famous garlic shrimp truck, but across the street tucked away next to Thai, Haleiwa Burger, and another shrimp truck. They had the longest line out of them all when I arrived, and rightfully so! Everything around smelled amazing too. They have a huge menu to select from and daily specials. I got the ranchero burrito (bowl) because I'm gluten free. It was the spiciest on the menu and I think that stands true! I didn't even use the salsa they provided on the side, it was plenty wet and plenty spicy. I wish it had more carne asada and I think I'd like it more with chicken but I still enjoyed it. I opted for no sour cream and the refried beans were very runny - really my only complaint - but they tasted great. The staff was friendly and the seating area in the back is boho chic. I also got a watermelon agua Fresca - perfect for a hot day! I'd like to come back and try some of their other offerings :) read more

One of the favorite Mexican food spots on the island. They have a large shared lot for parking with a bunch of other trucks & vendors. They also have A LOT of outdoor seating, I would note that if it was raining, you will NOT be good, as there is shading but not with anything super solid that will block a decent rainfall. Like what I've mentioned before, you order, they give you a number, you take a seat where-ever , they will bring you your food and take the number. What I've ordered ( I visited twice within a month so): * Carne Asada Crunchy Taco: 10/10, meat is tender and very flavorful, the toppings go perfectly together. I do wish that were was an option to do the crunchy taco toppings with a soft taco shell instead though (as I prefer a soft taco) * Chicken Soft Taco: 7.5/10, the meat wasn't as flavorful or juicy as the carne asada, there were some drier pieces, and since it didn't have all of the toppings compared to the crunchy taco, the quality of the meat was more prominent * Carne Asada Quesadilla: 10/10, SOOO good. Extremely cheesy and the carne asada never misses, as it has always been tender and flavorful. I also love both of their salsas, it is delicious and pairs perfectly with everything they have (tacos, burritos, quesadillas etc). This spot is definitely worth every penny and mile to get here. Normally I wouldn't review a place after only sampling one menu item, but Surf n' Salsa is a special place that deserves the attention! We ordered four grilled shrimp tacos (two each) and some Topo Chico bottled waters. I will be dreaming about those tacos for days to come! Perfectly cooked shrimp stuffed into large, handmade corn tortillas with onions, cilantro, cabbage, cotija cheese and served with excellent sauces on the side. Spicy and soul satisfying. I don't know who's making those corn tortillas but...damn...they are amazing! Counter service is quite friendly and food dropped at your table. The garden seating in back is a little slice of Mexico/O'ahu paradise with plenty of seating options. We are already plotting our return for house made chips and guacamole. read more

The food was excellent. We have visited the North Shore many times and this was our first stop coming into town. Unfortunately, the service was a little disappointing. The employee who took our order finished ringing us up and then immediately left. We stood there waiting for her, wondering if she was coming back... we never got a receipt or the little beeper to take to our table. Well, apparently she had to go on her lunch. We watched her sit down with a burrito and her water bottle. We decided to go sit down and waited for little bit, assuming someone would eventually notice when an order came out that wasn't attached to a beeper. My husband decided to go back up to the counter to see if the order on the counter was ours. The first thing he was asked for was the receipt, and when he explained that we had never been given one, there didn't seem to be much concern about the situation. The girl on her lunch even looked over and said, "oh ya, I took his order. I would've given him a receipt." Eventually, they found our receipt in the trash. Look, I get mistakes happen. I also understand this place is busy, and it can get hectic. But no one apologized for the confusion, thanked us for our patience, or seemed particularly interested in resolving the issue. Instead, we felt like we were inconveniencing them by asking about an order that had been mishandled from the beginning. This was such a minor incident, yet the whole interaction from ordering to inquiring about our food, to trying to resolve it just wasn't very friendly. We spent nearly $90, which is a significant amount for counter service food. I don't expect full-service restaurant treatment, but I do expect basic customer service, friendliness, and accountability when something goes wrong. Great spot! We came on a Saturday afternoon, there was only a few people in line when we arrived, but shortly the line went all the way into the parking lot! With that being said, the ordering line seemed to move quickly but I'd probably just plan accordingly if you are limited on time. We got the fish and shrimp tacos, along with the Surf & Turf burrito. All was good, but I'd definitely come back for their tacos alone - SO delicious! They have a pretty large seating area behind the food truck, so it is actually a great spot to sit and enjoy your meal too! read more

They relocated in Waialua right next to my bf place. We finally have a cute neighborhood date spot! No longer BYOB like the old location. Most things on the menu are good. I love enchiladas and it's hard to find a spot on the island that can satisfy my craving (rip azteca). It can be a wait because there's always a small line and they are working out of a truck so give them a break with the wait and order their tasty and generous chips and guacamole,which will come out fast, to snack on while you wait for the entree. I really want to try their nachos next. Really cute beachy vibes and comfortable seating too. read more

drove 40 min from town, and waited 1 hour for our food. We had carne asada fries and carne asada taco plate, my husband did also get the burrito but he's gonna save that for tomorrow's lunch so no opinion on that yet . For the drinks we got watermelon and horchata which were really good ! sadly food was mid, maybe a bit more sauce on the fries. it felt like it was lacking a bit of flavor and same with the tacos. Food: Great food! I got the cali burrito 4.5/5. Portion size is huge none of us could finish it. Chips and guacamole were also solid 4/5. Plus they have seating so you can relax, enjoy the sun and listen to some tunes while you wait. Today's haul was tacos, chimichamgas, empanada and tamale. Everything is full of flavor. We love the chicken chimichangas! They have cheese and rice inside and they are so cheesy. First time trying the empanada and tamale. We got the pork empananda and I liked the filling. It has potatoes in them too and come with a nice little salsa. The tamale had pork Verde inside. I liked the ratio of pork to masa but I didn't love the crispness of the tamale. I love Surf N Salsa! It's my go to whenever I in Haleiwa. The food is always consistent and fresh. I made a take out order online and arrived 15 minutes late from the original time of pick up. However, the order wasn't ready and they told me that it would take 10 minutes. Parking is available and is free for locals, but it's limited. So if you come during lunch rush, you probably won't be able to get parking. For the food, I ordered a surf n turf burrito, carne asada fries, and beff/chicken empanadas. The burrito is huge and packed with juicy shrimp and meat, beans, rice, guacamole, sourcream and lettuce. It has a little kick and flavor was great so I didn't need extra salsa for it. The carne asada fries were again packed with crispy fries, a lot of meat, guacamole and sour cream. It's a great balance of everything. The empanadas were okay. The corn shell was made by the restaurant. The beef lacked flavor compared to everything else I got. But the chicken and cheese empanada was delicious! I wish I had gotten that instead. Love it here! So sad to have lost the Haleiwa location to the flood but their location they opened on a soft open only one month before in Wailua is as good as ever. Love their crispy chicken tacos the flavors are fantastic, and love their refried beans. Ate here a few days ago. The tacos are huge, enough meat fell out of my taco that I was able to make tacos later for the kids dinner. They are so sweet, their location is really cool it just adds to the mill. However, I must say, the flies are insane but seems more like an area issue vs the food because it was very clean and the taco shells are perfect and homemade crispy, but if you let the taco shells sit more than a few minutes they get very greasy. I would eat there again if there were pest control of some sort. read more
