Came here a total of 2 times. First time was for the tour om my birthday, second time was just to stop by and have a quick drink due to just being in the area. Each time did not disappoint. Enjoy coming here even though it is no where near where I live. At least 40 minutes away from my house. But besides that, this place is great. In somewhat of an industrial area, but the distillery and lounge area are great. Awesome and friendly staff that are very helpful if you are unsure what to drink. They offer their in-house alcohol, but also offer other drinks including beers. Games available to play while you're there. Will for sure be back. Definitely a place to visit if you're into distilleries. Also recommend their tour even though it isn't very big big

We stop here every Honolulu visit! Its veteran owned and they do offer a tour (worth it) that shows you how they make their whiskey. Staff is always friendly, and I love their ube cocktail. Whiskey is the cat (and official mascot) hes so friendly, and love seeing him as hes living the good life (much bigger than on my last trip lol!!). Super chill place! Its definitely hard to find, in a warehouse area but they have tons of signs and Google maps will take you right there. Definitely worth the drive!

Located in a warehouse type place so it took us a couple wrong turns to find it but glad we did. Nice space with comfortable seating inside and some picnic type tables outside. There's also indoor and outdoor games which was nice because we brought kids. Ordered a chili water drink, ube drink, espresso martini type drink and a creamy pineapple drink. All drinks were great and differently made to give it that Hawai'i touch. They also have mocktails available which were pretty good - my daughter had the mocktail margarita which was a little on the tart side. It is a distillery and they have tours available with tastings, but we didn't sign up for that and instead just sat and enjoyed the cocktails. Cocktails were same prices as if we were at a bar. Nice place to lounge and try some good drinks. Bartender was really nice and provided good service.

The last time we were here, I wasn't able to enjoy the drinks because I was pregnant. This time, I didn't know how much of a treat I was about to give myself! The ambiance of this place is so cozy. I love that they have board games to play and are family friendly. We brought the kids because we had a couple family members go on the whiskey tour (which they loved, by the way!) We had a grand ol' time hanging out in the warehouse. I got myself a Bloody Mary because I can't help myself whenever it's on the menu and it definitely HITTT. We all love a blood Mary that's not so tomato-y. The bartender also made it with spicy tequila and mannnn, I'm surprised I didn't order another one! Apparently, they only sell bloody Mary's on Sundays so don't say I didn't warn ya. I love that it's a veteran-owned business too. You can see the craft that these guys have for whiskey. They have these cool 3D whiskey glasses that have the islands in the bottom of the cup. So dope. We're gonna have to make this a spot to bring the family when they come to visit.

Amazing distillery! Staff were so kind and the cocktails were absolutely delicious. Whiskey was fantastic. We visited as tourists but this is definitely a hidden local gem(in the back of a business park). Enjoyed all the military paraphernalia as well. FYI, Google Map and Waze took us directly to the correct location.

This was our first time visiting Ko'olau Distillery, and it's a fantastic hidden gem near Kailua! This veteran-owned spot offers a relaxed, local experience that is definitely worth seeking out. We were impressed with the cocktails! My Whiskey Tai was perfectly balanced and refreshing, and hubs loved his Old Fashioned made with their signature spirits. They also host Trivia Night on Thursdays, which sounds like a fun way to spend an evening! Highly recommend stopping by for quality drinks and a great local atmosphere! We will definitely be back, maybe for Trivia Night!

This distillery is so cool! Beautiful and comfortable interior that features a full bar and relaxing environment. We did a whiskey tour and tasting where we were taken on a behind-the-scenes tour of this active distillery- so glad we signed up. The tour was led by the Lead Distiller, Olivia. She shared such an interesting and abundant background on their unique location and distillery. However she also made it a comprehensive educational experience on the distillation process in general. All this information was served up with such a dry and witty humor that it felt like a tasting and a show! My son got to bottle and label a bottle of whiskey and even number the bottle that we took home with us. Such a wonderful way to spend a couple hours while exploring the island of Oahu. Highly recommend!

This is just a Saturday night accidental stop. I just had a feeling that I wanted to drive around the area since I heard a lot more businesses and renovations to the Kipapa gulch area. As we're driving by, I notice a party atmosphere, so onward we go. It's a pizza truck parked outside the warehouse doorway, which is tented out to the parking area with picnic tables s and a reserved party area. Inside is a bar area, open to the public. So we check it out, looks good to give some drinks a try. Ask to share seats with another couple on the tall table. Great idea. Tried several specialty drinks for fun. Pineapple sipping cream -served in a cute pineapple shaped shot glass. The Hawaiian-Hoki served on a copper mug. Both drinks were delicious. Our neighbor tried the liquor sampling. They liked 2 out of 4. The other 2 were too harsh to handle straight, but were great in their mixed specials. Cute stop behind the scenes, tucked away. Glad we stopped in to enjoy and support local businesses.

Okay we just love this place!! Not only do they have great events but you and take tours, do tastings, or hand out with your friends and enjoy the amazing mixed drinks they offer! And I will say it again you HAVE to try the PINEAPPLE SIPPING JUICE!!!! oh it is soooooooo good!!!! Service is always great and everyone will always make you and your family feel welcome.

We always love supporting local businesses and this one was also veteran owned. Met the master distiller who was also our tour guide. She was funny and extremely knowledgeable. Learned about the process and tasted some spirits. Stayed after for a few drinks and loved the chill vibe. Def recommend checking them out when in the area for something different and fun.

    Rude employee

I visited Ko'olau Distillery for the first time with a group of friends for drinks and food. Good food and drinks, but one staff member was unexpectedly rude during our visit, which didn't sit right with us. I hope this feedback is taken as an opportunity to improve customer service.

WHY WE WENT HERE: - after a day of fails, why not end it with a drink or 2 THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located off Kapaa Quarry Pl THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - I think because we came in the later hours, the distillery itself was closed; however we only had access to the outdoor seating/food vendor onsite, the bar and karaoke section inside - love the living room vibes of the couches by the karaoke area THE MENU: - flights - whiskey - non-alcoholic - cocktails - beer WHAT WE ORDERED: - Ube-Bae - Moonshine Margarita - Crushed Oranges THE TASTE: - the cocktails were very tasty! presentation (other than the Crushed Oranges) was very nice as well! CUSTOMER SERVICE: - drinks made promptly - karaoke was OK, the song choices of the people were just not in our personal arena, so it didn't make me feel like getting up to sing myself

Roaring 20's / Prohibition Party! Gave me a reason to stop by again. Everyone arrived dressed up in vests, flapper dresses, accessories, the whole shebang! It was nice to see people dress up for the event. The live music playing 20s tunes was great too! The espresso martini (not on the menu) was an event special using their very own chocolate vodka and coffee liqueur made in house, along with Traditions Coffee from next door. Yum! I pray they make this a regular cocktail item. Not many places do cocktails well here, but Ko'olau Distillery definitely knows how to make a mean drink. Nice for a change of scenery and company. Hopefully they have more themed events like these in the future!

The setting: I really like the vibe they went with for valentines and the decor, I like the lowlight setting as well. The banyan tree decor in the middle of the restaurant was a nice touch. The food: it was a fixed menu due to Valentine's Day, I guess I did not see that when I booked the reservations or it was listen on the open table app. I wish I had known because I wanted to try other dishes. Anyways.. we got to each choose an appetizer so we got the coconut shrimp which omgggg really good, that sauce was a perfect touch, the shrimp was nicely crispy. We also got the beef tataki which was another fav I must say. The main entrees was ok, I only say this because we got the lamb and fish. The lamb came with 4 pieces but 2 were cooked good and the other 2 seemed like it could have been cooked a little longer. The fish to me was also over done and a little touch and hard. I will go back because I do wanna try other things on their menu. Overall we still made it a great night and will come back again.

Usually, they'll ask how you want steak cooked, but they didn't. So I assumed that the chef had a recommendation, such as medium and didn't think anything of it until it came out. I recently went to celebrate my birthday, and everything was just as delicious as I remembered. This time, I tried the peanut tofu. I wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary, but I was pleasantly surprised by the creamy tofu, sweet soy sauce, pickled veggies, and pickled mushrooms--I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and will definitely order it again. In the past, I've had the meatballs and beet poke, which were both fantastic as well. The true star of the show, though, has to be the kiawe bean brownie. It is hands-down the most perfect dessert to end your night. Between the warm, rich brownie, the black sesame gelato (which isn't overly sweet), and the crunchy mac nut toffee that ties it all together, it keeps me coming back every single time. Excellent ambiance, top-tier service, and consistently delicious food. Mud Hen Water is a total MUST!

East meets West here, with a slightly spicy ma po tofu made with crimini mushrooms, which had a pleasant meatiness. The biscuits were excellent , but the watercress salad could have had more contrasting flavor. Since the dish was already soy-forward, maybe a citrus vinaigrette on the watercress might have provided a nice contrast. Our server was very good and explained all the dishes and specials. Absolutely blown away…read more This place was recommended to my partner and I by multiple people so we put in the reservation. Upon arrival, we were asked for a password (which he could not find in his emails hot fortunately they gave us grace lol) then let in. The place was simply lit and each table had a literal gas lamp lighting the space. On the second floor there was a man playing the sax. It was SO gorgeous, Our waitress was great, we were easily influenced by all her suggestions and ended up getting a great meal. We started with drinks. My partner didn't hear her say that the bottom of the menu was "spirit forward" and ordered a VERY strong drink. It actually made for a very giggly and eventful dinner so it was a very happy mistake lol. I got the espresso martini. It was a little creamier than I expected but still tasted really good! I'd order again. Our first appetizer was the Wagyu carpaccio- topped with cilantro (the menu said dill but I saw/ tasted none), fried capers, and caviar. It was surprisingly light and refreshing, basically a meat salad. A beautiful start to our meal. Our second (yes, second) appetizer was the escargot and bone marrow. This was our personal star of the show. A complete 180 to the carpaccio. This was rich, heavy, and decadent. The tomato added a nice balance of acidity to counteract the fatty bone marrow. The escargot was cooked perfectly, no chew but soft and buttery. One of the best bites of my life. The salad it came with was just we needed with it. After this, there was quite a wait until our main entree. A fire dancer came, and danced on the bar counter. I'd say we waited a good 20 minutes until it came out. But we were only impatient because we had plans after dinner. Our main course, which we shared, was the King Arthur- beef Wellington with a side of crab legs. The crab did come out during our appetizers which I appreciated. I only ordered this because I never had beef Wellington before and really wanted to try it LOL, my partner said it was better than the one at hella kitchen! The waitress also talked us into ordering a side of Mac and cheese, and thank GOD she did. It came out piping hot and saucy. There was a slight note of truffle, but it wasn't overpowering, and a nice crust of cheese and breadcrumbs on top. Everything was delicious and generously portioned. You definitely get a bang for your buck. It's a hefty buck but it's so worth it.

The food was really good I will say. Service for drinks extremely slow. We won't ever be back after spending $500+ for my girlfriend's birthday dinner that we were so looking forward to. I am so disappointed and will never recommend this place to anyone because of the girl at the door.

There aren't enough good things I can say about this place…read more First of all, the ATMOSPHERE. Walking in feels like stepping into the warmest, most welcoming home. The floral arrangements, the décor, the attention to detail... everything makes you feel like you're visiting an old friend. I feel like Odysseus finally making it home to Penelope. And then... THE FOOD. Omg. Everything is delicious. I've been here a few times now and they have never disappointed. I absolutely love the roast pork, but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Here's my completely unbiased (very biased) ranking: Petiscos - Kind of like a charcuterie board for bad bitches (i.e. me). 5/5 Sardines - 5/5. I use the sauce for everything. Cod Balls - 5/5. I would rub these on my face if I could. Bolo de Bolacha - Like tiramisu, but with experience. One of my favorites. Branzino - This fish is so soft and flavorful, and the salad it comes with is incredible. It takes a little longer to prepare, so order it first! Pistachio Rum Cake - Also one of my favorites. I genuinely can't choose. It's buttery, delightful, and just the right amount of sinful. Pastéis de Nata - A classic for a reason. The best custard tarts you'll ever have. I could eat one every morning with a cup of tea. Medeiros ʻOhana Celebration Cake - Chocolate. Cherry. Goodness. That's all I have to say. Arroz Doce - Think crème brûlée meets rice pudding. AMAZING. I've had it both warm and cold, and honestly, both are incredible. If you're looking for a dessert to take with you and eat in the car on the way home (because somehow you'll still have room), this is the one. Basically... just go. Bring friends, order way too much food, and thank me later. (I know i stopped rating the food when you go, you'll understand).

The bread basket was also amazing with 3 different fresh breads to try. The cod & potato gratin was nice. The cod and potatoes were layered. This was delicious. However, I think it may have been better with a bit more béchamel as I was looking for that sauce one comes to expect with gratin. Pot Roast was superb. This is our second time here and it didn't disappoint. Service this night was a little slower as they were short staffed. They do have walk in seating but best get reservations as the walk in seats fill up quickly. If you sit at the bar, bring a sweater as it'll be cold. Otherwise the restaurant is very comfortable.

The menu has changed to a more tapa style. We went with our two young children & they were very accommodating. We ordered a bunch of stuff but most notable was the Ensalada Salad, Croquette Cordero, Taco Raisu, Karaage Pollo, and for dessert, the Piña Borracha. We ordered some pork and steak skewers. These were ok, I would skip these next time. A little burnt. My favorite was the Ensalada Salad. The crab was sweet and the salsa opaca was so refreshing with the apple foam. Was told to smash the crisp on top and combine it with everything and that took it to another level! So good that we ordered another one. The price of this was so affordable too! The Croquette Cordero was like a mini curry ball with chimuchirri sauce. A little heavy but if you love curry, this is for you! The Taco Raisu surprised us. The taco meat was so flavorful!! Even though we were stuffed, we kept going back for more. It's like a deconstructed taco & you use the lettuce as a wrap. The Karaage Pollo came with a Cucumber Escabeche. It was so tangy and refreshing, which perfectly cuts through the rich, savory oiliness of the fried chicken. We got the Piña Borracha for dessert and that had a coconut cake, coconut lime mousse, banana lilikoi curd, and pasted pineapple on top. Amazing!! Great way to end the night. Everything was top notch. You can tell they put a lot of effort into each dish. Can't wait to go back!

The restaurant hours are relatively calm, but switches gears when it becomes a nightclub. Restaurant-wise, I believe the menu had a recent change-up to further explore fusion possibilities. I've been going down the list and the dishes have been pretty good so far; I haven't made it to the taco raisu yet, but I do need me some desserts. The picarones is like a peruvian andagi, which was pretty cool. The miso cream brûlée was from the prior menu, but also a Yes. The bar is knowledgeable and innovative their mixology- I've had the shizuku garden and that was amazing.

One of my friends is a regular here-- and she got a round of tequila shots for everyone. I tried to get the attention of the bartender on my own without luck since it was so busy, so it's nice to be rolling with a windward side friend. We did end up leaving shortly after because it was very crowded (on Halloween, as expected) and just wasn't the vibe. People may say that 3 stars is harsh, but for a dive bar that's exactly where the bar is. I would go again, but not without a good group with me.

She described it as a place out of a Stephen King novel and she was right. It was a wonderful mix of a biker bar, military bar and a few locals. The drinks were good, bartenders were friendly music was happening and there's dart boards to keep you entertained. It's definitely a fun place to visit. They have a small parking lot right in front of the place and Apple street parking and other parking nearby. There's even a food truck that parks close by on weekends if you want something to snack on. They also sell chips and beer nuts. It's not my kind of place but definitely worth checking out if you are into a authentic dive bar experience.
