This place is the SPOT TO GO .. The quality of every bite is amazing! Portions are good for 2 people to share! Or even a sage for later. The ahi katsu crisp is a perfect crunch Visited for 3 weeks and had it for lunch 5 different times. Definitely will miss it!
Long overdue with writing a review, but better late than never. Hands down one of my top most ONO grindz on da island! You're lucky to get any item before they sell out, it's that good. Located at the Waialua district park intersection, you'll find their lunch wagon. You can park anywhere to the left and right of them. Must follow their IG page to know when they're open. Usually open on all days during lunch hours. What to order: everything! It's random when we make it out to da North Shore so we go all out n' it's worth it, soo BOMB! 1) ahi katsu lunch plate that we choose to get on top of all toss n' it comes with a small side of spicy ahi poke so we also get 2) a spicy ahi poke bowl on rice n' to complete 3) an ahi katsu burger on a taro bun topped with wasabi coleslaw. Waialua's ahi katsu for both the plate n' burger are crispy, full of meat (they don't hold back), n' topped with all the saucey g0o0dness. Their spicy ahi poke is topped with delicious Taegu. Tips: be sure to bring ca$h. Maybe even exact change if you're first in line. At least $40 if you want all of thee above. You wanna go early, like right when they open, because they can sell out fast! Suggested to eat right away, there are bench tables at the park, to enjoy the ahi katsu at its most crispiness. You'll be wanting to come back sooner than later! TRUST.
YUM! You know when a truck only offers about 2 things, it has to be good (plus the long line is always a good indicator). This truck pops up every so often at Mililani Tech Park, sometimes in late afternoon hours as well. I saw it a few times at odd times (4 pm) with a line and wondered what the commotion was. I couldn't even find them on Instagram as their truck says "Shootaz" but their IG name is under "Waialua's Lunch Wagon". I always kind of browse the trucks parked for lunch at Mililani Tech Park. On this particular day, I decided on the spicy ahi bowl. There was a group of about 3-4 local boys and I asked them if they were in line. They told me they were but go ahead and I will not regret the decision to eat here (they probably saw I was hesitant to eat here). As I was waiting to order, another local guy came up to the line. I don't know if he knew the boys that let me go first but he said "ho, i came all the way from Waianae for this". At that point, I knew this must be good! Everyone was getting the ahi katsu plate but i'm not a fan of cooked ahi so I stuck with my original spicy ahi bowl order. Although the "bowl" comes in the smaller mini sized container, it is packed with spicy on rice. What I love is that they don't use hot rice because there's nothing worse than your cold poke warming/cooking on hot rice that other people do. The bowl was $10 and topped with a little taegu that gave it a nice taste/texture. I definitely recommend this place if you see them around. They are normally out in Waialua but do go to other places from time to time.

Shout out to our deckhand for recommending this place for ono kine grindz after our shark diving adventure. We came here after spending all morning diving with the sharks in the hot Hawaiian sun. Our deckhand suggested we head here immediately as this truck opens for business at exactly 10:30 and sells out fast! He wasn't wrong--after searching on Yelp for the exact location where this truck will be, we kind of just winged it and drove around in the Waialua area until we could find it. It wasn't long before we saw a long line of people standing in line to order (before the truck was even open too!). Sitting off on the corner of Goodall Ave. and Waialua Beach Road, there she was! The ombré truck with a line of people on the side of the road. This place is one of those IYKYK (if you know, you know) kind of places As they don't really have a menu board posted either--all we knew was we had to try their famous ahi katsu plate. For $15 you can't really go wrong. We got an ahi katsu plate with a side of poke, that was loaded with 2 scoops of rice, Taegu, two fist sized portions of fried ahi, covered in secret sauce, and a side salad. It was definitely a lot of food but we devoured our plates, of course! Overall this lunch truck is what I would have expected of any other plate lunch place on this side of the island. Generous portions and great tasting local food. Don't forget this place is cash only!

We happened to be down North Shore side and I spontaneously asked what we should eat that we haven't tried yet. Luckily we checked their IG and they uploaded a new post 43mins ago that they'll be at Waialua District until 2:30pm or when they sell out. We made it! No line, ordered and waited for 15minutes. The plate was just as delicious as it looked. My youngest was throwing a fit every time I tried to close the plate lol! He could not get enough! A super delicious plate lunch to cap our busy morning full of cleaning! Highly recommend!
The Ahi Katsu is really delicious... the price is right for a nice slice of Ahi... $13. I was introduced to this truck by a student and he was disappointed for waiting 5 years to finally try a piece of heaven. FYI- They run out fast so I'd advise to go early... yesterday they had to turn away quite a few people...
12/13: Shootaz shoot! If you like ahi katsu and poke, the Shootaz lunch wagon is for you. Partially because idk what else they serve... Good news is, they have nailed these two dishes. Ahi katsu was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, probably the best I've had so far. Our only 'knock' is that we wish they included more poke for the extra add on. Remember, CASH ONLY
Good ahi katsu at the Shootaz lunch wagon. I usually like less mayo on my ahi katsu like how D&L Seafood makes it, but it was still really good. I like that they use unagi sauce instead of katsu sauce. Easy parking in the grass right by the Waialua sign. No tables or eating area so eat in your car or take your plates to the beach!
Someone suggested this lunch wagon to my fiance and he was interested because they are known for their fresh ahi. I was also interested because I have been seeking out a tasty ahi katsu. This place really delivered. We are willing to drive 30+ minutes from town each way to get to the truck on weekends. PROS: Delicious, fresh ahi; great pricing; fast service CONS: Need to confirm their location each day (via their Facebook page) DISHES TRIED: -Ahi katsu. Best I've ever eaten. The combination of fresh ahi, crunchy panko batter, mayo and shoyu-esque sauces, and rice is absolutely delicious. For $13, you get a hefty piece of katsu, rice, and toss salad. And for $2 more, you can add on a small serving of their spicy ahi poke. -Spicy ahi poke/bowl: You can get a good half pound for only $5! Or a poke bowl for $10. (By my estimate, the bowl comes with more than half a pound of poke.) I also like that they top their poke with taegu which adds a nice texture. -Ahi stir fry. Not as remarkable as the ahi katsu, but still absolutely delicious. LOCATION: Often near the Waialua Recreation Center, but they do set up in other locations on a regular basis. Check their Facebook that day to confirm. PARKING: When the wagon is near the Waialua Recreation Center, you can stop to park near it on the side of the road.
For cooked fish, it was pretty good! And it's massive! You can easily make this into two meals. In order to eat here, you HAVE to follow their Instagram; that's where they post their hours and location. They're normally parked right across Waialua Elementary School where the big welcome sign is: "Welcome to Waialua. Home of the World's Best Sugar" You can just park on the dirt path while you patiently wait for them. There's usually already a couple of cars waiting before the truck arrives to snag a spot in line. Don't forget they're CASH ONLY and they do prefer smaller bills/exact change. Once you get your plates, you can drive down the road to the park (literally two minutes away) and picnic on the benches! I personally don't care for cooked fish but this wasn't so bad to me. Usually cooked fish is dry but I enjoyed this one. It's drenched in sauce which does get a bit heavy but it complemented the fish well. I'd say it's a food experience everyone should try at least once!
Heard a lot of great things about this place however we came not in time for their whole menu and didn't fully get to experience it like others. Thought we went quiet early however they do sell out fast so recommend being there early or even before the truck gets to there designated spot. Overall an okay ahi katsu as well as their in house sauce.
For those loving Wailua Lunch Wagon, they serve it here too! Here's our experience on a Friday approaching noon. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, you really shouldn't have any issues. Seating: Nope, unless you want to sit on the grass or curb. Feels: It was pretty confusing at first. It's an industrialized area but after driving around, seeing people park and other food trucks, we were good to go. Not much of a final destination spot but a grab and go to North Shore or other spot. FOOD: Ahi Tuna Katsu, Spicy Poke, Mac Salad, (Recommend) The ahi tuna was savory, crunchy, moist and fresh. The unagi and spicy mayo complimented it pretty well. The poke had a good kick to it. The mac salad was solid, not too much mayo with some pretty good potato cubes sizes. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Pretty quick. I'm glad they were able to serve us and provided us an additional box and utensils. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. The price was reasonable, the selections were plentiful, food was delicious, and the vibes were pretty good. If you're craving something healthy or not, this is a great place for cheap, quick, and flavorful bite. Tips: * Come quick, they opened at 11:00am, they sold out at 11:35am (this was also veteran's weekend) * They can be found on Palu and Akamainui St. * Go for the combo ($15 - poke and ahi katsu)
Seen this place on social media, and We were working on this side of the island, so we stopped for lunch. Ordered the Ahi Katsu w/ added poke. Not bad, quantity was on the smaller side especially for extra $2 for poke on the side. Overall it was tasty, sauce ontop ahi is what made it. We were lucky cause 2 orders after us they sold out, and mind you this was around 11a. It's cash only, no place to sit, but there us a few parks in area. Not sure if this is the only place they park but they were right across Waialua district park, and the corner of Goodale & Waialua Beach rd.

A while back I was blessed with one of these plates from a lovely client of mine. I will normally bring home my gifts and share with my family. My son just loved it and talked about it a few times afterward. I visit this client in Waialua about every other month and would always try to swing by the area they told me the truck is normally paked at. I started following their IG page and all to get updates. I figured either I wasn't looking in the right spot or I was just way too late. Seems like they sell out quick and quite often at that! This past visit I just decided I'd try again and finally got lucky enough to get one of the last few plates. I had just enough cash for two ahi katsu plates. When she saw I only had limited cash, she mentioned they also accept venmo, great! So I ordered one more plate with poke for Mr G. Lucky him lol. 1 plate is enough for 2 people to share honestly. 2 good size slabs of katsu ahi, with 2 scoops of rice and a section of salad. The katsu pieces are drizzled with what looks like Mayo and maybe takoyaki sauce. Price, value and quality are great. They gave forks and napkins, always love that. I normally start heading out of Waialua between 1:30pm-2pm so that seems just about the time they sell out. Went to this place a couple weeks ago and forgot to write a review. But anyways here it is now. We came to the location fairly early, and they opened like 20 minutes earlier. Had two cars including ours, so the lady ordered first. Once it was our turn to order, the lady who took our order was a bit rude. Minus one star. We ordered the Ahi Katsu, and I'll tell you, it was amazing. We had to add $2 for spicy ahi, and I'll tell you, it was so small. But I guess its their portion. I wanted to order another item, I heard their sandwiches/burgers were good. But when I looked at the buns, there were flies INSIDE the package. Minus two stars. Food was good, but once I seen that, I don't think I'll come back, due to the uncleanliness of the truck and rudeness towards customers. Sorry, but food safety has to be the main priority. read more

Finally got to try this place and dang it was worth every penny! $15 for an ahi katsu plate and spicy ahi ($2 more for spicy ahi poke already included in the $15) The ahi katsu was nice and crispy on the outside and soft (not dry!) on the inside. And the spicy mayo and unagi sauce drizzled on top makes it so ono! Plus, the spicy ahi is fresh and tasted great with the taegu on top. read more

This lunch wagon was an amazing stop! I went around lunch time 12PM. The truck was found near Waialua District Park, where we could just pull up onto the dirt road to stop and pick up food. There was a simple menu of 3 items on the list. I got an Ahi Katsu plate for $13 and a Ahi bowl for $10. Amazing plates! I loved how every bite melted in my mouth. so delicious. It's unexplainable. This place is most definitely a needed stop! Despite the rude service from the lady, but the food is amazing for such a great price! read more

Heard and seeing so much about Waialua's lunch wagon but never had a chance to try, until today! Absolutely amazing, we got the ahi katsu burger which has a wasabi slaw on top. The nice thing is the wasabi doesn't over pour the slaw. My wife was shocked to see the size of fish the use which is a very nice size! We also had the spicy ahi poke bowl on greens. The fish was like butter and just melts in your mouth! Good job guys keep up the great work. I could tell by the line & wait time that you folks are doing something right! And the 20-25 minute wait is not a bad thing when you get great food! read more

Been wanting their spicy poke plate for a while and I finally got the chance today. They were posted in Mililani Tech Park today so I took the drive from town. If you haven't tried them yet, I suggest you do. Ahi katsu is not only delish, but huge. You can share with someone and both will get full for sure. Their spicy ahi "bowl" is a must. Fish so fresh and the taegu is the best, nice and soft. You can add poke to your katsu plate for an extra $2 if you're buying a plate for yourself. They are normally at the Waialua District Park, but occassionally make an appearance at Mililani Tech Park. read more

My new go-to spot for ahi katsu. Stalked their ig page for their schedule and learned they always sell out, some days quicker than their others. Go early if you can. Last time I waited 45 min around lunch time. This food truck only sells ahi katsu and poke most days. They have specials sometimes. Check ig page for updates on hours and menu. Best ahi katsu on Oahu! Reminds me of my grandmas fried ahi (without sauce). Sauces is really good. Typical Mayo sauce and Teri glaze kine. Add on some spicy ahi for just $2 more. Perfect! Customer service isn't that great but food always is! Worth the long drive to the north shore, for sure. read more

Food was great. Amazing actually, I honestly would of gave it a 5 star if it wasn't for the horrible customer service. We drove all the way from Honolulu to Waialua to get some Ahi Katsu with some spicy ahi. It was 15 dollars per plate. There was 4 of us so we had to wait a while for our plates. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our food. It was really hot everyone was waiting by the trees or in their car. I could tell they were really busy. Customers coming every other 10 minutes. I think they were sold out when we finally got our food. Which says a lot because they opened at 11:00 and we were leaving around 12:50. The ahi katsu was really big and I couldn't even finish it in one sitting. It was so good. The sauce and the katsu made a great combination. The salad was plain, and there was spicy ahi, couple of pieces. Lots of rice. And I also ordered 5 dollars worth of spicy ahi. The spicy ahi was so fresh. It was so good, not too spicy and the cuts were small, which I am a big fan of. I gave them a 3 star because the service was bad, they didn't greet you and it felt like they treated the people they knew personally really well. I was very nice and didn't not know why the lady would say such a rude thing to me. We ordered the spicy ahi a few minutes before we were gonna get our plates so that it would not get warm in the hot weather. I guess it was kinda rude for us to leave it on the side table but it was the only place not in the sun and we were standing right next to it. She told us to move it in a really rude way and I apologize and said my reason of leaving it on there. She turned around and starting prepping and said "not my problem". & not only did I hear it but everyone around me did. I felt so embarrassed I walked away and just let my boyfriend freak the food. I honestly love the food and it's amazing but I think customer service is important. She was so nice to all the people she knew personally, but just a customer (me) she would treat poorly... like what if I was gonna come back. Don't you wanna leave a good impression? So that I keep coming back? I was really disappointed, I had high hopes. I was hopping this would be a favorite spot I stop at everything I go around the island but with the service I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. read more

AAAAAA-FRICKEN-MAAAAAZZZIINNNGGG!!! The Ahi Katsu is HAMMAHS!! Fresh fish, thick cuts, and the sauce is like gold! I cannot rave anymore about this place, all I can say is if ur ever down the North Shore u HAVE to stop at this place, it is a must!! read more
They make one thing and they make it right! I hope they just keep it that way and not add anything else on the menu. Best ahi katsu in the island...AND MAYBE THE WHOLE WORLD! Good thing this place is all the way North Shore, or else I'd be there twice a week. The plate weighs like 5 lbs. Perfect fish to rice ratio. Had like 4 scoops rice, eat all of it! The fish was bojungous! The thing was like 1 inch thick and the size of Oahu. Some people might snob the sauce, I loved it. Most places use sauce to cover up subpar quality fish, not the case here. Fish is the freshest you can get. If it's not caught by one of the local fisherman, it's picked up from the auctions and never frozen. Also had the poke for $2 more. Love the touch of Taegu on top. Was lucky not much of a wait when I went. Not gonna tell you guys when so it stays that way. With social media and stuff, this place should be here for the long run. Got to try this place toward the ending of our trip around the island. Their ahi Katsu is fresh, at first I only had enough money to buy one plate (since its cash only) so we knew that the only thing to do was find a bank and come back to get another one. I couldn't finish the whole thing in one sitting but when I got to eat it later in the day it wasn't soggy at all, it was just as delicious. I was afraid to try this place because I knew I'd crave it and I was right. I've been trying to convince my family to come with me to try it just so I can go back for more. I'd recommend following their Instagram page to stay updated about when they open and if they closed early because they sell out fast. If you get the chance to make sure you stop by to pick up a plate. read more
