Kahuku land farm stand is in a roadside parking lot with a few other stands. My wife had been…read morelooking for Hawaiian bananas. We pulled in just to check and see what they had. She did find a couple different kinds of banana and bought a couple of each. They had so many amazing things it made for a great place to stop. They were close to closing, so we really didn't get a great look at things. Plus, we were on our way to the beach. I wish I could remember the other thing my wife bought, I just remember she loved it. Since my son likes to get unusual ball caps, he bought one there. I was about to buy one for myself when he bought it, but I couldn't do that to him. An amazing place to stop for fresh fruit.

Fell in love with this place when we first visited back in 2016. It was a yearly thing for us - late Mar through mid-Apr. Fried bananas were awesome too! But then we started seeing produce boxes and packaging that were similar to the ones back home in NY. My kids picked up on it and at first I just brushed it off - No way would they be buying fruit from the grocery store and upcharging tourists. Not these sweet little old ladies. Turns out, that's exactly what they were doing. Fast forward to our most recent trip - April 2nd 2026. Trump's tariffs went into effect and all of a sudden, none of the exotic fruits were to be found. The sweet little old ladies, who btw are all filipinos (not native Hawaiians), claimed that the fruits we've been buying during same time for several years were now out of season! Hmmm..... sus! The only fruits they had were papayas, mangoes, guava and coconut slices. Please beware before shelling out top dollars thinking the fruit at these stands are locally grown! And now the prices for the same plastic bags are $7.

Great local market in the heart of Chinatown…read more The fresh Hawaiian papayas and dragonfruit were so delicious. Perfect for breakfast on the hotel balcony. The papayas were around 2 for $3. Everything is weighed to determine the price. Bring cash and a reusable grocery bag. Enjoy!

During our weekly marketing jaunt into Chinatown, we went to the O'ahu Market to get some Chinese…read moreroasted meats since my husband had been asking me to make one of his favorite dishes... stir fried bitter melon with roast pork in black bean sauce. Upon approach to our fave Chinese roasters, I noticed ABC Market with its fresh locally (some imported) grown fruits and vegetables displays. ABC Market has been in O'ahu Market's stall #25 for some time now but it took me until today to stop, browse and make a purchase. As I browsed through the fruits and produce, I managed to purchase a couple of Hawaiian papayas, green onions and bitter melon. The papayas are still green but I don't usually buy ripe papayas because they ripen quite quickly so these will ripen over the next couple of days. But, the green onions aka scallions and bitter melon were fresh looking and priced competitively with the other nearby fruit and vegetable vendors. The cashier was soft spoken as she weighed our papayas and then the bitter melon before telling us how much to pay. Our total bill only came up $6.25. I don't think that this vendor takes credit or debit cards as most vendors in Chinatown are CASH ONLY. She packed our papayas, scallions and bitter melons in separate plastic bags which made it easier for us to put into our Yelp reusable tote bag. We'll be back either in a couple of days as I was eyeing the soursop and egg fruits but didn't get them today since we walked into town and didn't want to lug home too heavy bags.
