I went right when they opened on a Saturday morning. No line and plenty of seating. They were quick with the order and tasted fresh with a punch of garlic. If you love garlic, their garlic butter Shrimp is your dream. For myself I wish there was more butter and less garlic. I kind of just tasted garlic on garlic and then more garlic. I was surprised I could finish my food in one sitting since that almost never happens. I left still feeling a bit hungry and wishing for more buttery garlic shrimp. Especially for paying over $18 for one dish. I wish it was more filling and again had more buttery flavor. If I am in the area and feeling a strong craving for garlic and not too hungry I know where to go!

I love garlic shrimp, and I'm a sucker for spicy garlic shrimp! Big Wave just did NOT deliver on flavor. The spicy garlic sauce was bad and did not have butter garlic flavor...it ruined the taste and I didn't finish my plate. The regular butter garlic shrimp tasted better. I usually ALWAYS go to Jenny's Shrimp truck right across the street, but I had visitors who insisted on eating at Giovanni's (they were closed today due to short staff, and I don't care for their shrimp either) so they picked Big Wave despite me advocating for Jenny's. I already knew it was probably going to be a miss after seeing Guy Fieri's pictures plastered everywhere and I was right. Anyways, I'm still glad I tried it out but when in Haleiwa I will never cheat on Jenny's again! Lol.

By far the best garlic shrimp truck on the north shore!!! It comes with a mini Cesar salad and the shrimp are perfectly garlicky over a bed of rice with the option to get the hot sauce on the side. I've tried several tricks over the years and Big Wave shrimp is by far the best. It's located in a small lot across from some local stores with picnic tables that make it a great stop on your each to the beach. The service is fast and friendly and the wait time is very short considering how busy they always are.

Big Wave is a must stop for any Oahu vacation! The shrimp are large and perfectly seasoned in the garlicky butter sauce. Portions are fantastic and they come with a fresh green salad and a wedge of juicy pineapple. The service is friendly and welcoming. It's outdoor eating only and they do a pretty good job of keeping the tables wiped down. The only drawback is that there is no restroom. There's a portable toilet out in the back end of the free parking lot.

Drove to the North Shore and saw this place. Many food trucks and small shops in the area! We decided to eat at this place because of the location and ample, free parking. I ordered the garlic shrimp and rib plates. The food was OK. The service was OK.

Free parking, decent amount of seating outdoors with umbrellas to give you shade, chicken and rooster neighbors, and delicious garlic shrimp! My family has been visiting lots of garlic shrimp trucks to see who really makes the best shrimp. Big wave is definitely one of my new favorites. The garlic shrimp seemed like it had very light breading which made it easier to sometimes eat the shell if you're too lazy. There was a lot of garlic and a lot of butter so there was a lot of flavor! The plate comes with rice, salad, and a slice of pineapple. (Jenny's across the street also comes with salad and pineapple.) I like how these two spots give you more than just rice and garlic shrimp. Can't wait to come back next year! (I think the lot only has porta potty for a bathroom, but there are restrooms nearby since you're in Haleiwa.)

Went to get the famous garlic shrimp and this place did not disappoint. There was barely a line here and the place was quick. I think I spent about $25 overall, but it was well worth it. The salad was simple and delicious, the shrimp were perfectly made and I loved the garlic and oil sauce. Combined great with the white rice. The tables were simple picnic tables and there were plenty in the front and back. We ended up sitting next to a sweet couple who we spoke with and said this was one of their favorite spots. And I couldn't agree more. 10/10 for me.

I really enjoyed visiting Big Wave Shrimp, and it's one of my go-to shrimp trucks whenever I visit Haleiwa on Oahu. After learning about this truck from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, I knew I had to check it out -- and it was absolutely worth it! The shrimp is incredibly fresh, and all the flavors are delicious. The scampi is so easy to eat and practically melts in your mouth. The butter and garlic are the perfect match for this dish. I also tried the short ribs -- and wow -- they were so flavorful and tender. I highly recommend visiting this truck. The staff is friendly, the food comes out quickly and fresh, and it's truly a must-visit spot when you're in Haleiwa on Oahu.

The shrimp trucks on the North Shore are a must. We wound up at Big Wave Shrimp. Apparently, they were on the Food Network. My daughter and I shared the coconut shrimp plate, which came with rice, salad and a large piece of pineapple. The big beautiful fried shrimp were hot and crunchy. A delicious plate. Find them and enjoy. 24

Got the garlic shrimp plate while I was in n Haleiwa and it was delicious. Lots of big juicy shrimp and plenty of garlic on two scoops of rice, some green salad and a wedge of fresh pineapple. There must've been at least a dozen shrimp. I could only finish half of my plate since I was trying to save room for shave ice! Big Wave is directly across the street from another popular shrimp truck but they got my business because of the larger parking area. I had never tried either one, so it was a toss up. Regardless, service was great and the garlic shrimp was delicious. They also gave me a side container of the spicy sauce they use for their spicy shrimp and it definitely had a kick to it. Great food, great stop for lunch!!

My wife raved about this place vs going to Giovanni's down the street which is always backed and now the charge for parking. The shrimp was pretty amazing not gonna lie. We ordered butter shrimp and the shell was crispy enough to eat. Service was great - aunties. Ambiance was exactly what you would expect from north shore food trucks. Tourists flock and you'll be lucky if you see a wild chicken or two.

Got the spicy and regular Butter garlic shrimp. They were delicious, and felt like a healthier options around all the food trucks nearby. Service was very fast, and surprisingly easy to find a place to sit, despite the large crowd. The ambiance was a typical Hawaiian food truck scene. As a tourist visiting Hawaii for the first time, I did wish that there were systems to prevent bugs, chickens, and birds from attacking during the meal, but I think that's unavoidable at a food truck. Anyways, overall, I would recommend for a casual meal option if you are nearby. I will say the parking situation is pretty hectic, so be prepared with a bit of a wait time when trying to park.

    Erich L.

One of the many trucks in the area. I tried the butter shrimp and the short ribs. Both excellent choices. There are some benches nearby. The hot sauce is a Tabasco sriracha kind of mix. I had some on the side and it was quite hot so keep that in mind if you're not sure about getting spicy. You could also get some on the side.

The garlic butter shrimp were amazing. Too bad I didn't get to try everything on their menu, but everything looks delicious.

The plating was nice and looks appetizing but the chicken were chicken tenders or chicken stick and the fish was those ready made breaded fish from Costco (at least it looked like it). What made the good taste good was the sauce. So, I recommend if you're really hungry and you don't mind eating microwave dinner and the family needs to unload and relax coz the place is vibing and has a long bar for adults. And it's not to say that I didn't like the poke bowl I had at Beach House. (I mean, what's not to love about about digging into some fresh ahi when you're literally feet away from the beach?) It's just that I had the otherworldly experience of eating from Foodland's poke bar the night prior to my lunch here and I couldn't help comparing it to the legendary Foodland. That said, the poke was still delicious and its runner-up status didn't distract from the rest of my meal. The spicy ahi wonton was a standout starter -- the shallot, scallion, tobiko, and chili aioli approach they have for the ahi here works better for the fish than their "beach house special poke sauce" in my opinion. Top it all off with a plantation iced tea: an island version of the Arnold Palmer that replaces the customary lemonade with tropical pineapple juice.
