If you're in Grand Forks, Half Brothers Brewing Company is definitely worth a visit! They brew their own beer in-house and offer such a fun and creative variety of fresh brews. We tried the Classic, Bloody Pickle Rickle, Golden Pickle, Pink Fluffy Unicorn, and several other unique flavors -- each one was interesting and delicious in its own way. The service was outstanding -- friendly, attentive, and impressively efficient even with our large group of 11 people. We also ordered a couple of pizzas, and they disappeared almost immediately because they were that good! One of the best surprises was the back area with old-school pinball machines and a claw machine, which was a huge hit with the kids in our group. We even got lucky and won a few prizes! If you read my reviews from traveling then you know I'm going to find craft beer and food for dinner. Here I am close to the Canadien border and there is one legitimate brewery close to town. Beer was good and food a bit underwhelming. Had the WC and Hazy IPAs. Both were good with the Hazy outshining the WC. They have a pickle beer which a lot of the locals kept ordering. I didn't try it but it's probably worth a sample. Really only pizza for sustainable food with a for appetizers to go with it. Special for the day was a slice, which was generous, and a beer for $10. The pizza was ok, crust a little doughy for my liking, need to make a decision if it's NY or not. Great stop when in ND, especially if you like craft beer. They had some guest taps as well as their own. If looking for food ok choice, but probably better in town. read more

My wife and I visited the area over Memorial Day weekend and stopped in for a couple beers and ended up staying a while and ordered a pizza. The service and the beers we had were really good. I tried a couple IPA's and they were very good and my wife enjoyed the beer she got. The pizza was really good, no complaints at all and pretty sure it was not a frozen pizza as a couple others said. It was a nice enough place that we came back a couple days later and had a few on the little patio out back. Very enjoyable. I'm always amazed that people can't distinguish between a brewery and a restaurant. I know why so many breweries rely on food trucks. If you are a normal brewery person, be warned. This is really more of a pizza place, that happens to have a brewery. Not many taps, of the taps they had 3 of them were out. Unacceptable. The cashier was honestly unapologetic and basically said, we got slammed. We were there Friday at 6. Yes, they seemed busy or at the least the tail end of being busy. But, nope. To have 3 of your beers tapped out not even through the weekend...think of any other professional brewery you go to, just wouldn't happen. One, sure...but 3?! Am I being hard? Yes. Grand forks has 1 brewery and this is it folks. So if you are a brewery snob, you go out of your way to go there...all excited, and that's what you are met with....fail. I have enjoyed every visit to this place. I appreciate that they allow people under 21 into the building (as long as they don't consume any beer, obviously). It's rare in North Dakota that this is allowed, and it makes this place very family friendly. The beer has always been good, for me. They usually have a couple IPA's at any given time, and usually have at least one partnership beer with Bully Brew Coffee which are always incredible. Their fruited sours are also very good. Their pizza's are great and you should get one. They cook very quickly so you won't have to wait long. Food is honestly a little expensive, especially for Grand Forks, and especially compared to the beer price, but very good. Typical industrial brewery vibes, which I don't mind. My wife and I are from Indiana. We came to Grand Forks for my nieces high school graduation. We heard that half brothers brewing Company was a great place to meet and greet when we arrived. It's a rather small place with maybe 15 to 20 tables with high tops and low top tables. Bartender was from Wisconsin and she was absolutely awesome. She went through the beer menu with us. She gave the girls samples and the girls loved their beer. I had their IPA and it was delicious. The food menu also looked very good but we did not eat. the atmosphere was light friendly and was a good place to eat and drink. if I ever get back to Grand Forks North Dakota I will definitely stop in again and have a beer. read more

Came in to Half Brothers on a rainy evening and they were doing good business. A large group birthday party and a few others couples. My server was in training but was plenty attentive. Funny moment: he would consistently ask if I needed another beer even when the one I was currently sipping on was probably 80% full. I'm good, my guy. I enjoyed two beers the Harvester of Sour and the Morning Dreams. Both were sours and had great flavor and tang. How fun is this place?!?! So spacious and I love the band stage and game area in the back. We sat out on the patio and I loved the picnic tables and cornhole. I love that it's family friendly too. Order your food and drinks before you pick your seat and they give you a pager to buzz when it's ready. I don't drink beer so I was hoping they would have hard cider so I could at least try something while here. The guy at the ordering area suggested I sample the sours so I did. He gave me a taste of the French toast and the mystery fruit. The French toast was insane it tasted like you just ate a piece of French toast and drank right after. I love sweet stuff but it was too sweet for me. The mystery fruit changes throughout the day so when it was poured for me it was different from this morning. It was clementine flavored. It was pretty good and not too overpowering. I ordered the smallest size possible (10oz) and still couldn't finish it lol. I ordered the insalata pizza and the pretzel bites. The pizza was interesting combo of sweet and salty with the raspberries and goat cheese. The crust was good and the edges were nice and crispy. I really enjoyed the whole thing. The pretzel bites tasted more like balls of pizza dough than pretzels but were nice and plump and chewy with a crisp shell. The beer cheese sauce was a bit salty but still good. Eating with friends and others ordered the margherita, the chips and salsa and the cheese/meat sampler platter. They all enjoyed their meals but the hummus was also really salty and the chips were just a box store bag of chips nothing special. The staff is super friendly and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The tables don't seem to get bussed often enough but that was really the only obvious negative thing. And other than the food being a bit salty it was all really delicious. Havent updated this place for a while. Now pretty decisively the better brewery in Grand Forks given what's happened with rhombus guys the change of the menu to something fancier which makes it lose a lot of appeal to me. I still find the pizza to be streakier in quality than I would like it to be. If I order it well done and the right person is working. It can be really good but if the wrong person is working it's only okay. Beers are pretty good overall, although they are a little bit one note in terms of their IPAs. Not always but too frequently. My fiancé and I enjoyed our experience at Half Brothers. The service was great, the staff would check in on us and make sure we were taken care of, and they were all incredibly polite. As for the food, it's not bad. I think there's room for improvement, but I wouldn't mind coming again. The pretzel bites were delicious with a good texture and flavor. We opted to pair it with the marinara sauce, and that didn't have a lot going for it. The marinara sauce tasted almost like straight tomato paste, so we'll probably try a different pairing with the pretzels next time. The pizza was a good portion, but my only critique was that the meat seemed to be added sparingly,. It was basically like one slice of pepperoni per slice. Last, but not least, we also got the brat flight. I was pleasantly surprised by the blueberry brat because I thought the flavor pairing was quite unusual, but it turned out to be my favorite of the three (blueberry, jalapeño cheddar, and original). I only wish that the flight came with some toppings automatically so that is isn't just meat and a bun. I think sauerkraut or a slaw would have been a nice option to give a little brightness and crunch. The flavors were great, the brats were flavorful and juicy, and the sausage to bread ratio was great. Overall, we had a good experience and would come again. read more

Check out the colors of those beers! The berry beer sour is fruity and tarty in a pleasant way, the first sour beer I actually love... a must try! The double hazy is also out of this world, fruit and balanced hoppy. The wings are great but over priced especially given the blue cheese is watered down. The pizza is thin crust, a good deal considering 'a slice' is a quarter of the whole pizza. The manager knows his beers which is nice. Excellent beers! I especially love their fruited sours. But, I wanted a special pizza and they just refused to do it! I wanted them to add sauerkraut to their pepperoni and sausage pizza. They have the sauerkraut but say it's only for sandwiches. They could make the pizza without the kraut and sell me a bowl of sauerkraut on the side. They won't bake the pizza with the kraut for some very strange reason. So, they didn't sell me a pizza. Makes sense, right? read more

We did not enjoy the menu items here. For such high prices we were expecting higher quality food. The beers were good. The corn dog kids meal was the best of the 3 meals we ordered. The meatball was bland and smothered in an over-seasoned sweet marinara and served with a good tasting loaf of bread and a huge cup of margarine. The cheese pizza was heavy on the same over-seasoned sauce and very light on the cheese. So light on the cheese that it mostly tasted like saucy crust. The crust was yummy. Pizza was ok, better at up north pizza pub- $15 for a sausage and pepper. Not bad but not worth 15, bottom of crust was burned and the top wasn't done enough. Had the smoked buffalo wings, ovened and flabby, sauce in the side- not enough; $12.50. Not horrible but then again not great and certainly not worth the price. I had to sauce my own wings which was weird I have never seen that before on the plus side they gave more than enough blue cheese sauce which I appreciated I had a sample or four beers which all were great but the flight prices were kind of weird because they didn't line up with the 16 ounce pour prices. $8 for the flight- not bad. $6 for the pint of IPA. I'd go back but probably wouldn't get food here again. Service was pretty good and the girl making pizzas gave me a pretzel bite sample which again I appreciate it and I think those would be great with the cheese sauce. read more

I had the opportunity to visit ONE brewery on my trip to Grand Forks, and I'm glad that I chose this place. They had a great variety of beers and everything that I had was solid. Great ambiance and the pizzas looked amazing. It was pretty strange to be drinking beers in sub-zero temperatures outside, but I just had to visit one brewery on my trip. My godmother (who doesn't usually drink beer) had the pale ale and really liked it. My favs were the Morning Squeeze hazy IPA and the Bully Brew Coffee Brown on nitro. read more

This place has the best beer in the upper midwest region. The head brewer is obviously exceptional at what he does, and it shows with EVERY BEER HE MAKES. Most times when I go to these types of brewpubs I rarely get good beer, let alone great beer. Furthermore the service is top notch. The servers are dedicated to making it a great experience. I will certainly be back. Also, I really hope they start entering their beers at the GABF; have a place on the wall ready for the medals you will bring home.
