Classy pub with delicious burgers and beer. As many reviews suggest, we added an order of the cheesy fried pickles. Service is great. It is requested that we wait to be seated, and we didn't wait long. We were noticed right away and given a table at a window. Upon arrival we were quickly seated, but not promptly waited on...the person seating us said they would be right back with waters and menus and never returned. We then had another person show up with menus and said he would return with waters...he did not. When he returned for our orders we asked about waters and he said he would get them after placing our drink orders. We placed our drink orders and he returned with waters and my wife's drink, but not mine as they ran out of an ingredient they made in-house I placed a new drink order and we placed our food orders. Our drinks the bittersweet symphony for myself and a n/a spicy paloma for my were delicious and refreshing. Our food arrived and my wife's fish special was spectacular. It was salmon with a miso glaze and it was just a flavor explosion in your mouth. I had the pasta special it was (mac and cheese) cavatappi noodles with pulled brisket on the top and it tasted delicious the brisket was succulent and the cheese sauce was rich and decadent. This place is a gem in the area and we'll worth the visit. My only complaints were the service was a little off(short-staffed?) and my pasta was overcooked(not mushy, but it missed al dente by a bit). read more

The bowl looks deeper than it actually is, it's quite shallow. The scallops are nicely cooked, not loving either sauce with though. Has prosciutto on the scallops as well. The snow peas are nicely cooked, not the ends are quite hard to chew down, best to cut the ends off. The truffle fries are okay, not the best I have eaten, but my husband still gobbled them up, since he likes any fries. The fish tacos come deconstructed and are build your own. They were pretty decent, but my husband didn't love having to assemble his own tacos so much. Service from Casey was pretty good, minus the mistake of the prosciutto on my scallops. read more

The Toasted Frog was an underwhelming experience for me and my family. We ordered the calamari, fried pickles, buffalo wings, tuna sandwich, and pizza. First off, for what the restaurant depicts itself to be the pricing did not seem appropriate. Is it a bar? Is it a pub? Why does a pizza cost 30 dollars ? The serving sizes were small which is alright if the food was good but it was very VERY bland. I get that it's the Midwest but all the items were lacking salt and seasonings. While in town looking at the law school for my daughter we are here as one of the recommended spots. We were not disappointed. We started with the fried pickles and calamari. The fried pickles are absolutely delicious . I refrained but wanted to order another order of these. Cannot wait to come back when we move her in, in 3 weeks to have them again. The dipping sauce is amazing we used it for our fries too! The calamari was very good too. Then we had the mushroom & spinach Lavash and the prime rib sandwich. The crust on the lavash OMG was amazing and tasty. The prime rib sandwich was delicious too. Service was great and the restaurant decor has a good vibe. Just moved our boy to UND. First time in Grand Forks. My wife and I stunned on the Toasted Frog. There was a waitlist but completely worth the wait! The food was OK, probably not worth the price. Crafty and interesting drinks, but as it turns out, there's a reason others don't mix certain ingredients together--some of them were yuck. Overall, I'd say it's a local landmark (the townfolk seem to love it), and I would go just for completions sake but there are other spots in town with better food. read more

My favorite in Grand Forks! Nice ambience, delicious food, and great service. The egg white sour is pretty yummy! I had the blackened trout which was the special of the night and it did not disappoint! We went early on a Tuesday night and it was not too crowded but I've heard there could be a wait on the weekends. Street parking not too bad. My wife and I were visiting from out of town and found this place searching online as my wife needs to eat gluten free and they had a good variety for her. We were very happy with the selection, service and ambiance. The elk burger I had cooked rare and it was perfect. The side salad was abundant and flavorful. I loved the goat cheese so much. They have a great cocktail selection and of course we had to try the gluten free flourless chocolate cake, it was worth it! Really an excellent dinner. read more

The only reason I gave it 4/5 is it was a little overpriced for the quality. That's it. The sweet potato fries were perfect. Literally perfect. Sweet potato fries are really hard to get crispy without burning them and they made them so perfectly that I ate more of those than I did the overpriced fish. read more

The food at Toasted Frog was decent. We've been recommended them multiple times, so we decided to check them out. The food was good but I think, because of how much people hyped up Toasted Frog, that it didn't meet our expectations. We enjoyed our food and the service was good, but I don't think it was at a level where we'd add this to our list of go-to restaurants. I think you can still get a perfectly good meal from them, but I think there are other restaurants in town that give them a run for their money. I do want to give credit where credit is due and say that their lemon cake was fantastic and easily the best part of our meal. I would come back just for the lemon cake. The fried pickles were a really fun appetizer as well and worth trying out if you enjoy pickles. I got the lamb burger and really enjoyed it. I think lamb is a seriously underrated protein, so it was a treat to see it offered on the menu. I think the atmosphere is great for a night with friends downtown. They feature work from local artists that are available for purchase, which I thought was really neat. I think their selling point is that they have a great night-out atmosphere. read more

I've been visiting Grand Forks for work a few times and I'm always not satisfied with the food. A coworker from ND continued to suggest I try this establishment. On my last day I tried and was 100% satisfied with everything about this place! I sat at the bar and ordered my food. The waitress / bartender was very nice and made great recommendations. It was along way from home and she was friendly and provided much hospitality. The food was very good, I felt like I was in Los Angeles. The ambiance was excellent and I'll definitely return to this restaurant for my next trip to Grand Forks! read more

I ordered takeout and finally found this place after detours led me astray - there is a lot of construction going on around the bridge! I had the scallops appetizer and the mixed greens salad with blue cheese dressing. Luckily I checked the bag before leaving because there weren't utensils in there! The hostess was sweet and ran to the restaurant next door to get a packet of utensils for me from them before I headed back out into the cold! Great service! The salad I ordered was as advertised in the menu, though for $10 it could really use a few more toppings like some nuts, seeds, or shredded cheese of some sort. That is the main redeeming factor. Service was also wonderful. Attentive, timely, happy. No complaints there. The food was the only real dull hue on an otherwise good night out. Steaks were mediocre and basically unseasoned. My strip had large portions of it that were fat that had not been rendered down at all. Appetizers were okay. But despite that setback the food is good. I got the lamb burger and a side salad. My friend got an open face sandwich with pesto and she loved it. Definitely would make reservations because it fills up. It's one of the better restaurants in grand forks! Note they don't make reservations for under 6. Went back and the service is still slow. Well, Yelp does it again! We found the BEST restaurant thanks to the app in Downtown Grand Forks (confirmed by their 1 hour wait on a Wednesday). We absolutely loved everything about Toasted Frog! We were in a hurry to catch a flight but luckily grabbed 3 seats at the bar (since we didn't have time to wait an hour). The bartender (I didn't catch his name but he was working on 7/20 in the PM) was absolutely AMAZING!!!! Watching him whip up delicious craft cocktails was pure entertainment. I wish that I was in the mood for a Bloody Mary because they looked decadent. He also had great knowledge of the menu and was very attentive, despite being extremely busy. We split the veggie lavash and it was to die for. Artichoke hearts?! Yes, please!!!! The veggies were extremely fresh and everything about it was perfect. For my entree, I ordered the Caprese Salad (dinner portion) with chicken and after a week of heavy eating at the lake, this was JUST what the doctor ordered. Super fresh, light, and yummy in my tummy. I will 100% come back to Toasted Frog the next time that we're in Grand Forks. Thank you for making our experience a great one!!! P.S.
