We reserved a table for a bachelorette party tonight. The food was outstanding. Our server Lauren was so knowledgeable and friendly. She was so accommodating and helpful while we are visiting New Jersey. We were blessed to book an AIRBNB close to Half Moon. Luckily our AIRBNB host lead us to Half Moon. The owners Diana and Jennifer were beyond friendly, I've never felt so at home at a restaurant I've never visited. Beyond the feeling of being a local, the food was absolutely magnificent. We knew it would be good but it blew our minds. My personal favorite was the Whipped Ricotta & the Brussels. Our entrees were a perfectly cooked Monkfish and a superb Mushroom bolognese. Ambiance great! Food good. Drinks-meh, clearly communicated my drink was too strong to drink and asked the waitress politely if I could have a different drink. Typically, any resturaunt would take it back and give you a menu or take the drink back and remake it, welp not here, the waitress went back to the bar guessing to perform an investigation/discussion with the bartender and brought us back a cup of mixers for us to pour into the drink, never asked if that made it better. Again never asked if the drink was better, I had to call her attention to come back to remove the drink no care whatsoever. This place is down the street from my house and I'm so happy it is. Whether it's the summer or winter, the vibes are immaculate. I love sitting at the bar in the winter, on the patio in the summer. A business trip to Keanesburg NJ led me to scoping out Half Moon, and it did not disappoint. It was Monday bingo/trivia night: Fun! I didn't participate but all around good vibes! I got the Burger with bacon which was great. The fries were excellent as well and a great compliment. The finale was the Oaxaca Hug which is basically a spiked coffee/hot chocolate. Good amount of liquor. Great little place. I highly recommend if you are in the area. Update: I went back again 5 days later and it was the same amazing and consistent experience! Place looks great. Came for an event which was ticketed. So they knew the amount that was coming. The 3rd party hostess said they were behind in the kitchen which was understandable. But the employee came up and admitted our order wasn't placed. After some time we got our food. But for a table of 2 we were still charged gratuity, though it states on the menu it will be charged for 6 or more. Not one to penny pinch but an automatic 20% tip was not justified for wait times on drinks and food. read more

Tried Half Moon for the first time last night with my wife. The staff and service were attentive and friendly. I had a Corona and my wife had the smoked lemon whiskey drink. She said the drink was really good. For an appetizer we shared the calamari. It was good. Had a fun twist with fried artichokes and zucchini. For an entree we shared the Brisket, potato salad, coleslaw, corn bread, and Mac n cheese. The brisket was seasoned well, had nice smoke, and was tender and moist. Love a moist brisket. They did a really nice job renovating this place. Love the old school nautical feel. It's very loud like very! If your sitting at a table you can barely hear the person In front of you talking. They need to get some sound panels to absorb the sound from the bar area. We had the frito misto which was very good but not much calamari on here at all. First, the staff was super friendly (the young lady who took our food order and both bartenders). Second, the food was DELICIOUS!! Definitely get the Half Moon Smashburger. You will not be disappointed. The fries were perfection and my husband loved the tacos (so shoutout to the chef). Thirdly, the vibe was so chill and amazing!! We just moved from Jersey City to Keyport and we have already been missing the quality of restaurants we previously had access to....until Half Moon. Everything was excellent from the ambiance to the cocktails to the food. First, the cocktails were unique and delicious and so fairly priced. Asked the host if we can sit by the window but he immediately said no because there's only 2 of us. The table was for party of 4 though they can adjust it to 2. That time there weren't a lot of customers. A couple with a baby in a carrier came. Immediately sat by the window, in a table for 4. So yeah, felt like we were not equally treated, Food was okay but only had brunch. Had croffles - croissant made as waffle. I'd rather have croissant or waffle. Drinks were good. Our wait staff was nice. Would I go back? Not sure! I'm okay with average food. I can always go for simple salad or soup or sandwich with a cocktail. But there is no alternative on a good experience. love their happy hour specials - both food & drink. they do it everyday! i stopped by on a sunday & they had a live band outside. happy hour is only inside at the bar and hightops. parking has about 8 spots in a small lot , i personally wouldnt bother here - i parked on the side street. great service. i grabbed the happy hour fish butty which was 1 large piece of fried tilapia on 2 hawaiin buns. for $6 this was great. fries were very good too! my drinks were a bit on the weak side and just a whiskey ginger, but for the price of $6 for a beach spot, ill take the deal. looking forward to coming back, this place has great views, good deals, and has a lot of fun activities going on every day. read more

I have never gone out to eat in Keansburg but Half Moon opening necessitated that I make my way up there. Probably a mistake to come on a holiday weekend in the summer, so we had to park a ten minute walk away, but it wasn't bad. There was ample seating so we were able to sit out on their patio/deck. Cell service sucks there. The cocktails are a bit sweet and they are a little light handed with the liquor. But the staff was very kind and the food was great! We got the chicken sandwich which came with breaded fries, which I don't usually like but these were so light and fresh, I enjoyed them. The chicken came with the coleslaw inside of the sandwich, which added a nicer creamy crunch to the bite. We also got the mushroom bolognese with ricotta and zoodles. Im glad they had the option of zoodles, as I wasn't that hungry and wanted something light. I also wasn't missing any meat in the sauce, as the mushrooms made up for it! Classy on the inside, it's also more casual at the parking downstairs, where you can grab drinks and boardwalk type food. And okay some pool or ping pong and listen to live magic! read more
