Cleaned out my media room today and took two boxes full of originally packaged VHS movies and music concerts (Luther Vandross, Cameo, Earth Wind & Fire, EnVogue, David Sanborn, Kenny G, Janet Jackson, etc) to the Round Rock store to sell. I researched every item I took and many were selling for well over $30 on eBay, Amazon and other sites. When called up for an offer, the kid quoted me $262 for the items he could buy. I asked for clarification and he stated "$2.62"!!! I promptly removed the items from the counter and will take them to a resale/thrift store as a donation. I bought every one of these new and stored them in my media areas -some for almost 30 years!! If you have any media worth anything and want to sell them...avoid Half Price Books at all costs!!!

I get it, the AC never works and maybe that is why all the workers are so upset all the time? I have come in a few times and everytime they are rude and seem annoyed when I ask where I might find a certain book. They are constantly changing the layout so excuse me fo asking for help. I will take my business to online thrift book stores and bypass the eye rolling attitudes.

Collectable records
Steve W.

This half price bookstore isn't there biggest, but it's not there smallest either. They have a very large CD selection, but not as large a record selection. However, behind the cash register, you'll see many collectible records. They also have 8 locked glass cabinets where they keep all of their collectible books, games and electronics. They actually have a book section located near the front door where they have all their rare collectible books. Keep in mind if you're going to bring books to sell here, don't expect to get much money for them. The same is true with records which is why you should sell them at your local record store instead.

there is an employee who guards the door five minutes before close and tells people not to come in. This cannot be good for business.

Buyer beware!!! My 15 year old bought a bag ($37.88) that…read morewas in a glass case that she was unable to see the size of the strap. With the bag on and the strap completely stretched out it barely hit her hip. We walked right back into the store to return it. They do not do returns and there are absolutely zero signs stating this. The person working today was glued to her phone so didn't hear when we originally asked for help. I told her that it's sketchy not to have signs posted stating that they don't do refunds. She said that she just works there. I then ask for a number to someone that can assist in getting signs posted. She doesn't have a number. Convenient. I then say if you have an issue with your paycheck who do you call. She stated my boss. I said perfect I'll call that number. She stated she would not give me her bosses number. I said ok then you can message them and tell them you have a disgruntled customer and have them call the store. She flat out refused to help. I had to call an entirely different store to try and get changes made. It's fishy not to have signs posted about no refunds. We have been into this store MANY times and have bought many things here. The staff we have seen there in the past has never told us of this policy. Never again!

Let me first start by saying the chick that was working today. Could you be any more rude? Not only…read moredid we walk in and your store was completely dead, looks like you were as well. You didn't say hi nor welcome not even a f*ck you, well thats ok I guess. Im a glutton for punishment, As me and my associates mingled and browsed in your store you did nothing hell I wasn't sure you were even a real person. Anyway This place is actually really nice once you get past the trash customer service. Awesome retro games, dvds, plushes and other cool stuff. Decent prices, fantastic layout. Anyways, thank god the petite chick showed up to work and helped us with our purchase just wish the other chick would wake up.

I've met people here at the Starbucks inside and even browsed the store with friends to kill time. I know in this day of age, people are not reading books and magazines in paper form, but you can find some excellent gifts here. I've found some great gifts for many friends and relatives here. My niece loves the little collectibles they have here where it's a mystery what's inside of it. Check out the gift finder online! I always have a hard time trying to find things for people and it's a great tool to give you some ideas. You can even buy online and pick up in store. That's convenient if you know what you want and don't want to wait for shipping. The staff is friendly. I really don't need any help finding anything as I just wander around. The line moves fast to check out so don't let that deter you from coming. Parking is easy, but the parking lot is shared with restaurant and retail shoppers so during Christmas it can get crazy. Ending this review with a quote. "Let's be reasonable and add an eighth day to the week that is devoted exclusively to reading." - Lena Dunham

It is not super big but it makes great use of the space it has tons of pre loved books, stickers, various gifts, oracle and Tarot cards, witches candles and so much more. SHANA SAYS: Super cute atmosphere, fun organizing of the books like pre loved, and lots of cute gift items. Plus a cat with its own hours! Kathy was super friendly and helpful. Made the whole experience better and is a genuine person. They do have a game room and a snack bar with free water as well as a keuring and snacks for sale. The bathroom is for everyone and they are very welcoming. Of course as an independent bookstore they have a wide variety of titles with some new books thrown in. They do mystery sells and bundles where you get a vague description of a book that is covered up and you take a chance. It should go without saying but as you are supporting local businesses the prices are a little higher the HPB or Amazon but it means more here and you should buy local when you can. I highly recommend this place. They even have a section where if you spend $50 you get to choose a free gift from books to sunglasses to other items. Go in, say hi to Kathy and The Cat!
