I stopped by the store hoping to find a specific candy for my grandmothers Christmas gift. I was greeted warmly upon entering which I always appreciate.I was unable to find what I was looking so I decided to leave knowing I can get the candy online. as I was leaving the store a cashier was giving me a dirty look and looking at my pockets as if I was shop lifting. Mardel carries a hodge podge of Christian faith-based items and teacher (educational) materials. On my last trip to this store, I picked up some shirts for my little one as well as a new bible. The quality of the faith-based items are great but the price-point of many of the items are not reflected in the merchandise. Many of the items (in my opinion) are marked up at least 12% above fair market value. Accordingly, if you are in the market for a one off item, this may not be a bad deal. However, if you are someone who likes to go get 'new finds', this may not be the place for you. I was pleased with the quality and embossment work on my daughters bible. I'm washing the car and the wife calls me, "babe...can you stop and grab a cute little Baby Shower card"? Uh...sure...what does that look like? Give me some ideas where your head is? "Oh...just get something nice...and a little toy to tie around the bag...thanks babe!" This is a guys worst nightmare. There is way too much pressure for me to fail horribly at any decision I make here. This is not my area of expertise. I don't even attend Baby Showers unless I'm forced too. So I head to Mardel Christian Center. They always have nice cards. So I say a prayer (I need help with this task) and start looking around. I'm surprised with their selection of cards for all occasions. I pick a couple of shower cards and I see what I think would be some nice gifts to tie around the bag... but I'm not sure. What is the appropriate toy to tie around a gift bag??? I spot a young lady who appears to be taking inventory of the stores shelf items. I explain my dilemma and she completely understands and has obvious pity on me. "Follow me", she says and takes me to another side of the store I had no idea even existed. I love Mardel. So happy to have a Christian bookstore so close. They have a wide variety of Christian authors. And so many things to help with your daily spiritual walk. However, I DID manage to find a book called "Trump's Unfinished Business" about 10 "unfulfilled prophecies" that God will use Trump to "fulfill."This is the moment I knew I will never walk into or purchase from Mardel ever again. read more

Thus is a large store full of friendly people that has so much to look at and choose from. From books to wall hangings, cards, jewelry, toys, clothes, games, you name it! I can't even go in unless I've got an hour or more to look at everything!! read more

Great store- nice merchandise but very disappointed in the printing job done on my bible I brought to them this morning. It is a gift for my husband and the outcome is sloppy, running together, and just all around messy. Nothing like the pristine sample shown to me. Seems very rushed and messy and now my husband's gift of a new bible is ruined in so to speak because I can't have it redone. It's permanent. Im very disappointed. Not to mention I paid for it to be done- would have been better left undone. I told the individual there that I was not please with the turn out and no resolution was provided to make it better. I'm confused about what this store is. They seem to present themselves as a Christian emporium -- indeed, it's tha most expansive religious store I've ever seen. But I couldn't find the most basic Christian things there. My wife and I went in here because we're in the process of buying a new home. We were looking for a crucifix and I was hoping to replace a medal that had been stolen from my wife in South America and a Saint Francis Xavier medal that I had lost. Inside, this store is about the size of a typical Barnes & Noble. They have all sorts of decorations and religious items. When I asked the first lady if they had a crucifix, she apparently didn't know what a crucifix is. The lady she asked said that I should go to a Catholic store to find a crucifix, that this store is a Christian store and they don't carry anything that is "denominational". I found that curiously odd -- tons of crosses, but not a single crucifix. Next I asked the ladies if they had any religious medals. The response was a flat no. read more

WOW! I just happened by and saw the sign...I had never heard of Mardel, but saw that it stated it had Christian Educational, so I stopped in. It's much larger than the common Christian stores around...but very similar. It was sort of like a Teacher's Heaven mixed with a Christian bookstore. They had lots of things at bargain prices...and since I hadn't planned to go there in the first place I just sort of poked around to see what they had. I got a movie for $1, a gospel CD for a $1, some novels for my bookworm daughter for about $3 a piece...then I looked over at the educational section and found something I wanted to go over with my son to help him with critical thinking skills. Very cool. I meandered over to the bibles...I'm really picky...and they had lots of Thompson Chain KJB's and other choices other than Zondervan and Thomas Nelson. I liked that! I even bought one for my daughter. On check out the clerk asked me if I wanted free engraving on the cover. (?!) I had to ask if I had just heard him correctly...the bible was already an amazing bargain - marked down $15 dollars! So, within about 3 minutes they had engraved my daughters' name on it for me. I even got a cup of free coffee while I waited. SOOO...it's a great store in general. I rated it with 3 stars, because personally I don't like all the religious and weird stuff they sell - just because something is called "christian" doesn't make it so. That's my personal take on that issue, but for the store in general it is excellent. read more

Mardel has a vast variety of books, Bibles, music, pictures, and teaching supplies. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I am always greeted when I walk through the door. Did not expect such a huge store - we stopped in just for a gift purchase. Staff is very helpful. The educational section was great - we have intended getting some supplementary educational material for my two youngest in elementary, but there is a big difference in looking at a something online and actually reading through it in a store. There was a ton of mainstream materials - we picked up math workbooks from Scholastic as well as some Christian education materials. And they have the largest selection of Willow Tree gifts my wife had ever seen (her favorite). Pleasant and uplifting - glad we discovered it. read more

I love getting lost in this store. It's bigger than expected and I love being able to find Christian gifts here. Their discounted items are usually a great deal. Their home decor is amazing. Sometimes a bit pricier than Hobby Lobby but definitely unique. The usual items that we look for here are journals or bible study materials. They even have a spanish section! The kids section is always fun and they provide several at home activities for learning, I had one negative experience where a store employee followed us around. Probably due to the fact that we had a young child with us in the home decor section. I figure they might have has a couple accidents in the past. Otherwise, this is a fun store to visit and look for items that are not readily available in secular stores. read more

Some of their educational supplies are reasonable and I like the fact that they are do close to my school and home for all of the laminating that I have to do each month. For the most part the staff is helpful and courteous. I only had one rude experience but I haven't seen that clerk since. I am NOT religious and I was raised catholic. I find it funny when I see their "Bible" station for "all your bible needs" just sayin. read more

This store started off very nice, but now it looks like they will be closing shop any day now. It is unfortunate because it was a great store to get devotionals, teaching and learning materials, you could get things laminated here, and they had a whole array of other gift type items, clothing, and home decor. The staff has always been very friendly. The prices are not the best, but they are comparable to Family Christian. Some items you can find at Hobby Lobby and use a 40% off coupon which is why I say the prices here aren't great. I'm pretty sure most books, you can also find on Amazon for cheaper, but this is probably true of any brick and mortar bookstore compared to Amazon. If you are in to this store and their merchandise, I would keep an eye out because from the looks of it, it sure looks like they will be closing their doors in the near future and you might be able to take advantage of some sales. read more

This place is horrible. I usually did my back to school shopping here because they have a vast amount of things for teachers. However, I stopped shopping here because the employees that work there are very RUDE. They are not very friendly, nor do they seem eager to assist you. I hope many of you will read this and find another place to shop at. It's definately not worth the trek to Cedar Park! read more

This store is great for finding all your Christian book, decor, and novelty needs in one trip. They have a best seller table up front so twice I've been able to walk in and pick up the book I came for right there. I didn't have to search around for it and was in and out of the store in under 5 minutes. Love that! read more

Yes Amazon is cheaper, but it's very difficult to "shop" amazon when you do not know exactly what you are looking for....I'd highly recommend stopping here even just to brouse. Shop local! read more

This store looks nothing like the pictures above anymore. It has been changed and honestly looks nothing like a christian store but more of a "five and dime" store. If you have been in this store before, I cannot describe the shock of walking into it now. The Cedar Park store used to be a warm and inviting place, but since the changes, it is cold and sterile with bare walls and cheap metal shelving. I didn't see any of the old staff in the store and I don't blame them. I couldn't even shop there it was so different and many of the items I loved are gone. So sad! read more
