We decided to refinance in the middle of a pandemic. What could possibly go right? Our uncertainty forced us to choose a company that advertised "more personal attention". We thought since this could get really ugly, and really bogged down, we wouldn't waste our time and effort on a the "big mortgage lenders", and go with a known local company, that has a good reputation, and gets things done. Full disclosure: I once worked with David Hall, and remembered him telling me that he "loved business". With looming problems, THAT was our guy. His company didn't disappoint. The loan officer, Henry, and loan processor Abby were stellar. Typical issues were taken care of quickly, most done through e-mail, with good communication skills, and responded to promptly. The subtle hints and encouragement within the e-mails to get to the closing table quicker should not be ignored. I immediately understood that if I wanted things to go smoothly, and quickly, I had to respond accordingly. I followed their instructions, and stayed on top of any requests for information, or documents. We closed on the loan in 14 business days. That is phenomenal even without a economic shutdown. Bottom line: this was by far the best mortgage experience that we have ever been through, and we have been through many. I never met any of the people involved in the process, don't know what they look like, or what kind of personality, or what the office looks like, but WOW, they were excellent!. Even the closing agent, Penny, whom we did meet face to face,(with surgical masks on) was friendly, efficient, and top notch.
