The staff is friendly. The house is small, simple, and cozy. I would visit again.

At least not firm enough for me. Sorry, no photos of the room, we were so exhausted we jumped into bed. The morning staff was incredibly friendly and it was nice that they had a coffee station set up near the elevator for the people who wanted to just grab and go. They also had brown paper "to go" bags near the exit with pb&j, bagel, apple, and bottle of water where you can grab on your way out. The "included" breakfast was way better than I expected. When someone says continental breakfast, I think muffins, bagels, and maybe some croissants. They had a variety of cereal, oatmeal, bagels, cream cheese, fruits, croissants, mini frittatas, sunnyside up eggs (overcooked), and bacon. The bacon was still crispy! I was a happy camper. I appreciated the spacious eating/seating area.

Our family had our 96 year old Dad's Celebration of Life at the Wild Waves compound. We discovered…read morethe property in January while it was under several feet of snow, and closed. We made arrangements on the phone with Cindy to reserve all 6 motel rooms, the pavilion and the attached 3 BR house. The motel rooms: Each had something different to offer. All were very large. All had fridge, microwave, full size drip coffee maker and 2 queen size beds. Room 2 had a kitchenette and room 6 has a sliding glass door with a small patio and view of the sunset. We were there in the very beginning of the season and the motel rooms were a bit "musty". We live near the ocean so we knew what to expect when a property is closed up for a period of time and brought some diffusers and essential oils. This made everything perfect. I imagine as the season rolls along, the musty-ness goes away. The towels and linens were great and the pillows very comfortable What to bring when staying in the motel: coffee and condiments, coffee cups, hair dryer, cooler for ice or bring some extra plastic ice cube trays, bathrobe. You don't get the fancy, extra swag that you get at the high priced hotels. The attached house: All linens and towels were provided and checked on every day. Plates, glassware, cups, pots and pans, silverware, drip coffee maker, tea kettle, and a few serving pieces are provided. There is one ice cube tray in the full size refrigerator. Full size washer and dryer. We bought bags of ice at the marina down the street. There is also a growing (I'm assuming) amount of stuff that people leave. Foil, baggies, laundry detergent, paper plates, paper towels ice etc. I wouldn't depend on those things, but maybe call Cindy the day before you leave to see what's there so you don't drag it there. We liked having a large cooler for beer and extra ice. There is a gas grill and a picnic table on one patio, an enclosed porch with seating and an outside porch with seating. Also a nice size "mud room" with lots of storage and places to hang jackets and purses. Beach chairs are provided down at the beach as well as fire wood for fires. There is plenty of green space for out door games. The pavilion: This is the jewel of the property!!!!!! IT IS STUNNING! Inside has a bar and full size refrigerator. And plenty of room for tables. We set up our food tables (3 6 ft tables) and there was still plenty of room. I couldn't tell if there was AC. The temp was very comfortable. This building has a covered outside area that comfortably seats at least 30 people. Round black wrought iron tables and chairs. About 6 or 7 low top tables that could seat 5. Below the covered space is an open deck that had a mixture of low top tables and high tip pub wrought iron tables and chairs. Could seat another 30 people at least. THE BEST PART OF THIS AREA IS THE NIGHTLY SUNSET. THERE ARE NO WORDS!!!!! Cindy, our hostess: Where would we be without her????? I hate to think. She was engaging from the get go in December. She helped us narrow down the caterer, rolled along when we changed the guests in the motel rooms, we changed the number of nights several times and was at our beck and call the minute we arrived. If she was leaving for the day, she would say "just give me a call if you need anything"!!!! She helped us haul all of our stuff down to the pavilion for the celebration, and kept the trash cans from overflowing. She did everything very unobtrusively. Hardly knew she was there. Cindy was so friendly and helpful. A true hostess! We have decided to replicate this trip (without the funeral part!) every 2 years to meet up with friends and relatives. Can't beat the value, accommodations or especially the hospitality! Would live here year round if I could!

This was exactly what my family was looking for. Quiet, economical, on the lake, & a nice beach. We…read morewere more than pleased. Knowing that economy was a priority, I was anxious - but we loved it here! The private beach is amazing, and the HUGE yard/property was beautiful. A fire pit and a pile of wood was even available for our use, along with plenty of lawn/beach chairs. This is a traditional "motel" (Not hotel) setup, but with only 6 units, it felt more private, and with much cleaner and larger rooms than normal, and homey accoutrements, not to mention a full size refrigerator, which was invaluable to my family of 4, since we were there for 4 days. We spent 2 days on the beach relaxing and 2 at Cedar Point, which is less than a half hour away. Lastly, Patti, the owner, with whom you personally deal throughout your entire experience, is a delight! Friendly, unpretentious, thorough, and obviously caring. If/when we ever come back this way- we will call Patti. For the location, beach, and local family ownership- I can't imagine more bang for the buck.

My son and I needed to arrive at Oberlin College by 11:00 Monday, so staying overnight in nearby Lorain, OH at this beautiful hotel was the perfect solution. The hotel's restaurant is always closed Sunday-Monday, so we didn't get to try that, but we were able to find take-out from a restaurant in Amherst, and eat in our room. We were really surprised to learn that only two families were staying at the hotel the night we stayed! We got a great deal on Expedia for a queen double room. About $112 in total, and parking was free. Free Wifi. Super clean facility. Beds were so comfortable and the shower was awesome. I loved all the cute vintage features, like the mail shoot by the elevator. No swimming inpool yet, due to COVID of course, but perhaps we will enjoy a swim on our next visit. We will definitely stay here next time we are visiting Oberlin, which is about a 25 minute drive from Lorain. Thank you to Sabrina and the other hotel staff for being so welcoming and for providing my son and I with such a wonderful and relaxing stay! Updated: we stayed here for Oberlin College graduation weekend and had a solid stay although it was rowdier at night during the weekend when a wedding was happening. Room was clean, beds were ok. Free parking. Limited staff around, and no room cleaning during our stay, but when we called for room towels we received them. Pool was nice but the area around the pool, bathroom, sauna (closed) and exercise room could use some attention and updating.
