You can stay in here with advance reservations and be right next-door to Ralphies house from the fabulous movie, a Christmas story. there are sure to be barking dogs inside, but I'm sure they're not real. What a fabulous place to stay if you are in Cleveland and a super fan of the movie. The area around it has the Christmas story house, the Christmas story museum, and the Christmas story gift shop which I think was my favorite part of this trip. If you are in town, don't forget to stay in the Bumpus house.

My son and I needed to arrive at Oberlin College by 11:00 Monday, so staying overnight in nearby Lorain, OH at this beautiful hotel was the perfect solution. The hotel's restaurant is always closed Sunday-Monday, so we didn't get to try that, but we were able to find take-out from a restaurant in Amherst, and eat in our room. We were really surprised to learn that only two families were staying at the hotel the night we stayed! We got a great deal on Expedia for a queen double room. About $112 in total, and parking was free. Free Wifi. Super clean facility. Beds were so comfortable and the shower was awesome. I loved all the cute vintage features, like the mail shoot by the elevator. No swimming inpool yet, due to COVID of course, but perhaps we will enjoy a swim on our next visit. We will definitely stay here next time we are visiting Oberlin, which is about a 25 minute drive from Lorain. Thank you to Sabrina and the other hotel staff for being so welcoming and for providing my son and I with such a wonderful and relaxing stay! Updated: we stayed here for Oberlin College graduation weekend and had a solid stay although it was rowdier at night during the weekend when a wedding was happening. Room was clean, beds were ok. Free parking. Limited staff around, and no room cleaning during our stay, but when we called for room towels we received them. Pool was nice but the area around the pool, bathroom, sauna (closed) and exercise room could use some attention and updating.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IS PUTTING IT MILDLY. 8/24/22 my…read morehusband and I stayed one night in the Stern Room. A week prior to arriving, I called the B&B to request earlier check in than the 4:00 pm stated. The owner Sid, agreed since that was the only room that was not occupied the night before. AND he would text me if something changed. Since I did not hear from him - I texted him twice while in route to Vermillion - but no answer back, so I called him. He told me he was not there to let us in - and he would be at the house 4:30 the latest. Turns out he owns another company and the B& B seemed to be a part time thing. Upon arrival - we found that no one had occupied any of the rooms the night before, and the only reason we could not get early check in - he would not be on site to let us in. Upon our arrival we were shocked to see the condition of the property. The first thing you see is the front door- which was filled with cob webs and spiders - the entire front porch, swing and chairs were the same. Including the chairs outside by the fire pit. A complete lack of care or pride in the place. Interior of the house is completely run down and in need of a through cleaning. Ceilings were all water stained. All windows were filthy and the shades did not work. The only tiny fridge in main room was dirty & not cleaned, no wine glasses, no complimentary bottled water and NO BREAKFAST - hello it's a Bed AND Breakfast. They give you a coupon to go to a local coffee shop (NOT a sit-down eggs and pancake place) AND - the coupon is one $15.00 coupon for two people. And the coffee shop does not tell you that once you buy one thing on the coupon and there is - say $8,00 left and you want to get something else, once the first transaction is charged - the coupon is closed out and you lose the remaining money. We were told by the coffee shop that Sid was adamant on that policy. This was by far the worst place - hotel or B&B that I have ever Experienced. It should be shut down. Don't stay here - and I have learned a valuable lesson on reviews - don't trust them.

The property is staged to entice people to rent but things such as bedding are old and appears to be unclean. The lounge chair is old, worn and obviously nasty. The pipes are also visible in the closet that run from the adjacent bathroom. There are signs posted that warn guest of items that are in need of repair. There wasn't anything to make a guest feel welcome (bottle water, complimentary fruit, etc). Once I arrived and realized I had been bamboozled I immediately called Kelly and told her I wasn't satisfied (after traveling over 12 hours) but she still refuses to refund my full amount. False advertisement at its finest.
