I don't give out good reviews lightly, so when I give 5 stars you know it's some serious shit. This place certainly might not be the top brass of hotels in the area, but it's certainly worthy of 5 stars when evaluating the price to quality ratio. It is super affordable and offers great comfort. Of course, I only stayed one night as that's all I needed but it was a great one night. My room was clean and there was no smell despite what other reviewers had said. Looks like they fixed the bed bug problem too. Only grievance was that the bathroom door lock was broken but who cares, the main door lock worked and that's all that matters. The location might be a little sketch but what are you gonna do pick up the whole building and move? Good customer service from the girl at the front desk with a smooth check in. Our room, the lobby and hallways were very clean, the bed was comfortable and the motel was quiet. Great water pressure and always hot water in the shower. Staff was friendly. All we really needed for this stay. Didn't like the free breakfast, would have helped if they offered peanut butter. We chose this hotel because of its convenient location just off Rt. 80 on a trip to Chicago. Making the reservation over the phone with Debbie was the highlight of our stay. The property presented poorly - drab, dim hallways with stained carpeting leading to the rooms. Room furniture looked second hand, with chips on the legs and in need of a good dusting. The room was really stuffy when we got there and the climate control was weak. The shower curtain was too small for the curved rod resulting in puddles of water on the bathroom floor. However, the beds were comfortable and the hotel accommodated our request for a first floor room. The breakfast area was clean and roomy. I'm not a big breakfast person but if I were, I would find their offerings very satisfactory - good coffee, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, hash browns, bagels, hot/cold cereal with toppings. With some better lighting, new carpet, updated appliances and modern room furniture, this could be a decent place. read more

Really poor experience at this hotel. It felt very dirty and poorly maintained. The doors to the guest rooms were not hanging straight, ours had a gap at the top that you could see light from the hallway through. The pool was very heavily chlorinated and in need of a good cleaning. 2 starts instead of 1 because the front desk staff was very friendly. They had several recommendations for very good dinner spots in Elyria. And the breakfast was pretty good for being complimentary. Good coffee available all day. read more

Stayed here for Memorial Day while visiting Cleveland, Ohio. It was clean and a good location. The best part of the hotel is the complementary hot breakfast, which included eggs, sausage patties, home fries, a pancake maker, and a lot more. The WiFi was very poor, almost unusable at times, and there was a regular beeping coming from the hallway near our door. Someone at the front desk said she'd look into it when I mentioned it on Monday night, but it continued until our checkout Tuesday. We were able to block it out by turning on the fan. Other than those two issues, the hotel was a good stay at a great price for the holiday weekend. So I travel home from Vegas quite a few times a year. I'm usually a hotel snob, however, on these trips I don't spend much time in my room and just need somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep. I find Best Westerns to fit this bill perfectly. This was my first time at this one. I had to extend my trip a few days and this place worked for that. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It did have those tiny Best Western pillows that some of them seem to have. The staff was nice. I didn't get any little Diamond perk on check in like I'm used to but not a big deal. The breakfast in the AM was good. Every day was different but consisted of items like sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, sausage patties. They had a choice of cereals, some muffins and toast, yogurt, a pancake maker. And best part is was served till 10 which is nice if you're not an early riser like me. Only issues I had when I was there was it was kinda loud. Quite a few little ones that were screaming and in the hallway often. But that's not the hotels fault. The other annoying thing was the shower curtain. It was fabric, which I liked, because you know it was washed in between guests, but it wouldn't stay closed despite the magnets at the bottom and the bathroom got kinda wet because of that. And in order to get new towels you had to take your old ones to the desk and that's not fun when they are all wet from mopping the floor. But, two really minor issues. Overall it was a perfect location for me as my family is in Lorain. I'd definitely stay again. read more

Worst Hotel Experience Ever: My company booked me here for four days and I advised them to blacklist this Hotel. It's old, dirty, run down and nothing works. Let's start with day 1 - Checking in. The first sign should have been the old man smoking in the parking lot in his pajama's. Going to my room on the second floor I immediately noticed the old carpet had not been cleaned in a while. There was a mother and her kids with their hands up the vending machine taking food and sodas. I had to go back down to the lobby because I could not get in my room. Come to find out that door handle only opens one way. The TV worked and then I could not get it back on. Talked to maintenance and we found out the channel changer didn't work any longer. The Internet service sucks and I had to use my phone to do computer work. The hotel staff that cleans the room (Not really) just comes in and pulls up the sheets, doesn't change the sheets and doesn't take away the trash. I have to empty my own trash. The next day when pulling into the parking lot there is about 30 senior citizen bikers getting drunk in the parking lot. I had to wait 5 min just to pull in because one lady would not move from the middle of the road. Here I am thinking , ok, I can endure. The temperature is in the high 80's and humidity seems like its 200%. The air conditioning in my room breaks and I have no AC. It's 100 degrees in here and when I call the front desk, all they say is the hotel is sold out and they can issue me a refund. It's 9:15 pm. I don't want to search for a new hotel room at 9:15 the day before I am to check out. Needless to say, I will sweat (Literally) this one out tonight and check out for good in the morning never to return. I advise. NEVER STAY HERE read more

I was driving (alone) from Chicago to Philly for a month long trial in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. A little less than half way, my tire went flat. It was an overcast, cold, rainy evening in late February, 2022 and I had no idea what my location was. I hadn't seen any mile markers, my GPS didn't pinpoint my location, there were no tourist signs, no buildings or landmarks...nada! After being able to get in touch with a tow truck company and dispatch helping to find my location, a tow truck came and the driver was able to just change the tire. (Their excellent review will be posted separately). The driver explained that I wasn't too far from an exit where I could find motels and tire places, etc. I pulled into the Best Western parking lot, exhausted. I went to the front desk where I met Debbie. Her kindness and helpfulness actually brought tears to my eyes. She made me feel like everything was going to be ok and everything will fall into place as it should, after a good nights sleep. I wasn't able to post this review until today and I'm sorry I'm late with it. Once I arrived in Philly, work kinda took over and it was nothing but hustling for the trial prep, the actual trial and then packing it up to get back on the road. I just wanted to reach out to Best Western (636 Griswold Road, Elyria, OH) to let the highers up know that you have one extremely special person (Debbie) working for you and your customers. Really pleased on how this place looked; really nicely decorated.The breakfast was the nicest I've ever had at a hotel eat for free breakfast they had yogurt , eggs, waffles ,scones different types of juices very healthy , plates and cups were they use was compostable. Price is the only good thing about this place. Walked in and it smelt like pot. Sheets were not properly cleaned and couldn't even shower as the shower head itself looked as though it could give me a disease. So much scum and build up on the shower head. Asked for new sheets however the sheets that came were a horrid yellow-y color. Front desk staff was accommodating however unabashed by the stain on the sheets. After a small while, smoke smell emanated from the AC and make it almost impossible to sleep. Overall, it seems like everyone should just completely avoid this town in general. read more

Called prior to booking and was told pool was open, closed when we got there. Went into room and it was both dirty and damaged. Broken furniture, ripped bedding, blood on bathroom floor, wall fixture's we're crooked/damaged. When desk staff was notified we were told we wouldn't get a refund before we were even offered any kind of solution. The hotel is very clean it smells clean looks clean it may be a little dated but there's a lot of care with the staff you can tell . We had problems with a booking thanks to Expedia and problems with a hotel nearby and at 1:30 in the morning Stacy came through for us over there when we were totally exhausted and just frustrated so kudos to them very quiet Hotel was great stay well managed would definitely stay with them again ! Hubby and I needed a day without the dogs and time to reconnect. We got here early, caught breakfast (wide assortment pancakes, fruit, cereal, milk, yogurt, biscuits and gravy) amazing and delicious (only complaint the biscuits were dry), the room is great (beds clean, perfect carpet, clean bathroom massive tub (only complaint is it gets slippery so be careful), pool is amazing hubby and I had the whole pool to our selves. Lots of restaurants near by, we went for another swim, hung our suits to dry on heater (dry again in 5 hours), great night sleep, and made it for breakfast the next day (pancakes, cereal,milk, yogurt. Hash browns, eggs, sausage) delicious! The front staff is amazing. I forgot my water bottle and called sue at the front desk and not only did she retrieve it she held onto it for me. In my trip across the country, this was one of the two places I stayed that offered the best value. The room was very inexpensive, and yet very nice. The premises were clean, everything was in great shape. The bed was comfy and the room was quiet. Wireless internet worked seamlessly in my room and had a strong signal. The staff at the front desk were friendly, and the breakfast was tasty. This motel is conveniently located near I-90/OH-2 and the Ohio Turnpike, I-80. Although it is in a nebulous suburban wasteland between the two dumps of Elyria and Lorian, there are a few places to eat around it, if you know the area. Not my favorite part of Ohio, but if you're staying here, this is a perfectly fine place to say and I would gladly recommend it. read more

This hotel reeked of smoke and can be smelled in Non-smoking rooms. They need to terminate Molly from the front desk for her disrespectful way of handling someone reporting an issue with the pot/smoke smell in hallways. To call the cops on a little old lady was just rediculous and uncalled for and then later to find out she was bragging about almost hitting her is just astounding. The cops agreed it was ridiculous as well. Very unprofessional staff. Houskeeping staff were fighting in the hallways yelling and screaming and threatning to hit one another. I was very disgusted and disappointed and you couldn't pay me to stay there again. read more

Stayed here for a couple nights on a trip to Cedar Point. It is perfectly located between Cedar Point and Cleveland. The highway on/off ramps around the hotel are goofy so be careful that you don't miss your exit! Elyria is a desolate Ohio town that looks like it got hit hard by the recession. There is nothing left in the area but a few chain restaurants and empty strip malls. Hotel Pros: The room was very very clean! I was surprised. I got a fantastic rate by booking online with my AAA membership. The staff were very friendly. My wi-fi worked. Vanity located on outside of bathroom. Hotel Cons: The breakfast was TERRIBLE. This is where they lost 2 stars. I'm not going to lie...I may have booked this hotel because it offered a breakfast in the morning. I knew I was going to spend a lot of money on this trip and quick and convenient free breakfast in the morning was a really nice perk. There were absolutely no menu options but 3 cereals, mushy instant eggs, and sausage gravy. My friend and I did a once-over and left, in search of a breakfast place. I will probably never choose Best Western again because of this. read more

this hotel was absolutely disgusting needs zero stars, after driving 15 hours all i wanted to do was shower, as soon as i turned on the shower dirt came out of the shower head and the more i looked at it the more i realized it was cover in dirt and mold. i went down to the desk to explain what happen, i believe her name was stacy with long brown hair was very un interested. she switched our room across the hall when we walked in and went to put the suit case on the holder there were dirty socks an earring and a bandanna on the floor. after an hour of these games i went back down stairs and told her to which her answer was "what do you want me to do, i don't need a customer complaint" she came up and cleaned the shower head with an attitude. the bath tub has no grips on the bottom so it is very slippy. the whole floor reek of weed and cigs, we asked for a extra towel and they told us we'd have to bring down one of the ones we had. very grossed out and no hospitality. read more

This is the worst place in the world to stay at in terms of hotel. They do not really serve you a complimentary breakfast. Not only that but the front desk by the name of Rafi try to hustle me out of $30 for an early check-in when it's only $20 and then he went down to $15 only to go back up to $20. This is not a good place to stay because you have a lot of Riff Raff running in and out and the gym is terrible. The worst part? The pool that they have is not clean and you can see things floating around in it. read more

If I could give one star, I would. Front desk worker, Stacey I believe her name was, wasn't too friendly when we informed her of our dirty shower. She offered to give us a new room which we agreed to, and when we got in that room that shower was also completely filthy and the room looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned and looked through since we found a random sock and a bandanna. At this point, we had decided to go back to our original room since it was slightly more tolerable than the new room. When we get back, Stacey offered to clean the shower herself (with a bit of an attitude of course) which was appreciated, but seemed like it should have been done before we were given the room. At this point we were super tired so we complied but she had asked us to leave the room while she cleaned it which seemed a little odd to me. Anywho, we agreed for her to clean the shower head which ended up taking 25 minutes at 11:30 at night so by the time she was done it was almost midnight. Moral of the story; save a couple more cents to stay somewhere that's got a higher standard for cleanliness. read more

I had been driving all day on my way to Chicago and stopped here to get some rest. I called while I was in the parking lot of another hotel (I made a wrong turn) and the woman who answered the phone was so nice (I think her name was Donna). I had stayed at a Best Western on a road trip before and liked the service and their beds so I hoped they would be the same. They didn't disappoint. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was awesome! It wasn't a skimpy "continental" breakfast either. In addition to donuts, there was pancakes, sausage, hash browns, cereal, eggs, coffee, juice, milk. It was pretty good, I was really surprised. For my birthday, my husband asked me to find a motel with a jacuzzi in the room. I called different hotels around Elyria and found that, Best Western has a better deal. When we checked in the front desk person was very friendly and found that the room was ready even for early check in. The room was so clean and even for an older building it is so well-kept. This was a very decent hotel, and the breakfast of fried eggs and hash browns was a step up from the usual stale cereal and bagels.

The hotel was better than I expected. When we opened the door it smelled clean and fresh as so did the bed covers and the towels. My only real complaint was that the pillows were a little small. The breakfast was pretty good to they had your usual cereal, donut, bagels, toast, what I really liked is that they had a pancake machine that makes you two pancakes in about a minute, they also brought out hot eggs, hasbrowns, and breakfast party's. read more
