Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I was the customer. Usually, I'm not particularly eager to write bad reviews. However, this is my third time taking my Kia to this dealership for the same issue. The frustration of having to deal with the recurring blinking engine icon and the P1326 code, which I know is a recall issue, and Kia offers a lifetime warranty, is beyond words. My issue is the way I am treated each and every time the service representative deals with it. I am talked to condescendingly as if I'm a clueless female who doesn't know what the F I'm talking about. I'm very good at car maintenance, especially with oil changes. Not only was my car there for two full days, but I was also NOT offered a loaner or offered reimbursement to get a loaner. This lack of consideration for the Kia lifetime warranty for this knock sensor issue, which obliges them to provide a loaner or reimburse you (up to $40 a day) for a loaner, caused my granddaughter to miss a music recital on the first day Kia had my car. After a few calls to the dealership, the service Rep finally called to let me know my car was done. He was not just snarky with me on the phone, but actually yelled at me at one point and told me, "You're not listening; you didn't hear what I'm saying." This disrespect is not something I expected from a service representative. He told me they drove the car and tested it, and it runs fine, and there's no more blinking check engine icon. Do you actually think I don't know that you reset the computer to turn the blinking check engine light off? When I asked what the problem was, he insinuated there was no issue, and the car was fine. My question to Kia is, "Why then did you have to keep my car for two full days?" He was trying to tell me it could be burning oil. I just had an oil change, and I get oil changes frequently, usually well before the 5,000-mile deadline. Again, it's the manner in which I am spoken to and how I'm treated when I go to Halleen Kia, by the same representative each time I go there. He even remarked, "I don't know what hill-jack automotive place you take your car to." In fact, where I usually take my car has been rated the number one automotive service place in the Cleveland area every year in a row. I don't appreciate being talked down to in a condescending manner and told that I'm not listening. I repeated everything the service rep said: "Right back to him." I am listening loud and clear, and I am hearing that Kia doesn't value their female customers or their service. Do you think we don't know that you have to fix this issue for FREE because of the recall, the lifetime warranty, and the class action suit, and you don't want to spend time on something that isn't making you any money? When you start losing customers left and right, then maybe you'll listen. This experience has severely shaken my trust in Kia and its service. Kia is well aware of this knock sensor issue. Had a check engine light come on and needed to get my tags. Thought it might be under warranty, so I called to see if they could get me in, hopefully quickly for registration reasons. Spoke to Ryan in Service last week. He told me to bring it in first thing Monday morning. I know that Mondays are a pretty busy day at dealerships, so his willingness to get me in quickly was great. DO NOT EVER BUY A CAR FROM THESE THIEVES!!! From day one me and my girlfriend purchased a 2019 Kia Optima with roughly 19,000 miles on it. Since the day of purchase the car was burning oil to the point where we would have to fill it with oil EVERY WEEK 5 QUARTS OF OIL WEEKLY, THE OIL LIGHT WOULD APPEAR. We took the vehicle in and addressed the situation. They told us they did a checklist evolution on the vehicle and they couldn't find an issue with the vehicle. SO we kept oil in it every week. Now at 80k miles the car started sputtering I read the codes on the car and I came to the conclusion it needed spark plugs, one plug was SOAKED WITH OIL. IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CARS THAT IS TERRIBLE TO FIND A SPARK PLUG DRENCHED IN OIL. So I changed the plugs the car smoothed out and the check engine light turned off BUT IT KEPTS BURNING OIL . Today, the problem came back not even 5k miles later the spark plugs are ALL soaked in oil. Moral of the story is do not I REPEAT DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP . DO NOT BUY A KIA I know they do have programs to get you in a car immediately but I would not buy one unless you want problems. They steal these cars like no other, these engines are known for catastrophic failure. As a mechanic I've worked on plenty of these engines and most the time we just tell the customer to purchase a whole new engine. GO BUY ANY OTHER VEHICLE! and trade in wise these cars depreciate significantly after pulling it off the lot. Dealers won't take these cars on trade ins because they are lemons they are a disgrace of a car . I wouldn't buy one of these cars for 500$ brand new. I went through Costco purchase program who provided Halleen as their dealer. Prior to going up to Ohio for this cash purchase ($18K), I verified with their representative (Jason) about prices and discounts to include a veteran's discount, which they said they offered a $400.00 discount. I made the flight up and while doing the paperwork the salesman (Scott) entered the discount. However someone in financing said they couldn't do it because I would not be on the title. This place lost my business and I recommend that you do your research before going here. I really wanted to support a local business that is in my neighborhood. While my salesperson was polite and he seemed to try, upper management would not accept my offer. They inflate prices and had the car listed for over $2,500 fair market value. They said it was because of the low miles , when I showed them cars with similar low miles and even more loaded they still would not move from their over priced state. They refused to budge even when the salesman himself confirmed what it was going for in the area. Was not happy at all with the experience. Was quoted one proline online, but the price with financing was quoted at a 4% interest rate. I email responded asking about the 0% interest advertised on their website, and no response. So I called and said that my quote was with 4%, and did they have the 0%. Was told yes, with qualifying credit score. Well, mine qualified for the 0%, but when given the numbers at the dealership, it was $4,000 more than my quote online. When I asked about it, I was told my online quote was including rebates and discounts that wouldn't combine with the 0%. That's what I was trying to find out before going in and wasting my time. 3/25/2017.....was not in the market for a new car at all! I had a 2010 Kia Soul. I was dropping by to say hello to my mother who was there for my partner to car shop. Low and behold, I was at the wrong dealership originally. I was at the used dealership and not the new. When I realized I was not at the right place, I went to get in my car and it would not start.....what?!? Not one problem in 7.5 yrs with that car till the day I parked in the car lot. Long story short, went over to the new car dealership (after a jump start), I had it in my head at this point it was time....time to part with a car I loved! Paid it off 2 yrs prior. I dealt with Jay V and bought a 2017 Soul! It was a long process (but expected) but enjoyable! He was professional, VERY knowledgeable, helpful, the list goes on! I will say that though I felt my old car was in great shape (first and only owner) no accidents, within 10 yr, 100,000 miles warranty I only was given 3 grand. But....I got a new car. I would not recommend this car dealership giant to anyone. I purchased a brand new Kia Soul from Halleen Kia in September, 2012. (mistake #1) My bad, I was convinced that having "their guy" install add-ons to my new vehicle would be an acceptable option. (mistake #2) Within 3 months, an array of electrical issues presented themselves. In just under 1 year, my vehicle has been towed back to them 4 times and in service due to electrical issues at least 6 times. The car is not even a year and a half old. Eric Halleen's promise to "work with me" has turned into nothing more than giving me a loaner vehicle while mine is in service. How is that working with me? The vehicle is either a lemon from the manufacturer or a lemon due to "their guy". I still must arrive to my car in random locations, find that it will not start, have to wait on a tow truck, have to have it towed, have to deal with service and the dealership and a loaner vehicle, have to take more time to sort it all out and overall have to worry that I may be faced with an unreliable vehicle at any given moment during my rather busy and always on the go life. If I wanted lemons, I would visit the West Side Market. And I wouldn't have to pay hundreds of dollars every month for them either. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They have a serious problem with their customer service. It's dealership wide over there at Halleen Kia. I dealt with 5 people and 3 of them were completely awful. I gave two stars because I really like my new car. Also my salesman, Gregg Zolnai, was a great salesman and overall wonderful human being. And the manager, Justin, actually had some customer service skills as well. Those skills just seem to stop at sales and management. After finding the car I wanted and working out a price, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with finance guy, Charles. AWFUL! Charles should never be exposed to customers (and I'm told he's no longer in finance... probably because he's almost lost multiple sales because he's awful.) He managed to wrangle my mother into the room on her way back from the bathroom and started asking her questions to which she could not answer. Because I was the one buying the car and he should have been asking me the questions. So my mother called me into the room, and what did I hear as I stepped in? I heard Charles talking to my mother like she was a piece of trash. OH. HELL. NO. I found out that Charles was questioning the validity of the title on my trade-in. So he proceeded to speak to my mother and me like we were criminals who were doing something wrong, instead of allowing me to explain to him that I paid the car off a year prior and had the actual real title. I was trying to tell Charles that, but since he already knew everything about everything, he kept cutting me off and talking down to me. I don't know if it was because of my gender or if he's just generally a jerk. Part of the problem is that I had California plates. But, I bought the car in Ohio and the title is therefore an Ohio title. Charles, the genius that he is, argued with me that since I got California plates on the car, the title would have switched to a California title, and he's been doing this for X amount of years so he knows better than I do. Except, he was completely wrong and I was completely right. The title follows the car... it doesn't change based on where you get plates. I could get plates on the Moon and the title stays an Ohio title, because that is where I purchased the vehicle. We eventually found out that I was RIGHT. After I stood up for myself and shut Charles and his nonsense down. Told him he wasn't going to talk to my mother and me that way. The manager, Justin, ended up coming in. My sales guy told me that Charles had lost the sales people several sales because of the way he speaks to people. Charles tried to make excuses and tell me that he used to be a MP in the military, so that was why he was speaking to me like that. Well, I'm glad he was a MP, but I'm not some drunk driver he pulled over on base. Leave that stuff out of the new career because your customers are not your subordinates or criminals you're arresting. Sadly, it doesn't end there. My 45 day tag was about to expire in mere days, and I had not heard anything from them about the memorandum title. Stressed, I called up there & spoke to a receptionist (Melinda or something...) Well, she was another one who knows everything about everything. She looked up my info & told me that the title would "maybe" be there "sometime next week" but she would have someone look into it & call me back. Well, it was a Friday & the clock was ticking & I told her I needed to know if I had to run to the BMV to get a new temp tag. An hour goes by and nothing. So, I call back. This chick immediately gets defensive and starts talking to me with an attitude. Cutting me off and being snotty. She ended up transferring me to a finance guy named Matt. From the second Matt answered the phone, he had an attitude. He was defensive from the first few words out of his mouth. When I was trying to explain the situation to him, this a$$hole lets out a loud, obnoxious audible sigh in the middle of my sentence. So, I call him out on it and he proceeds to deny it and tell me, "I'm just over here breathing like a normal human being." Matt goes on to talk to me like trash and then says I'm "yelling" at him and "berating" him, when I was speaking to him at a normal volume. I asked for the name of his superior and then Matt goes on to tell me, "I've been in customer service for 10 years and have NEVER had a customer complaint..." and keeps going to tell me he's just such an amazing human being and he's the best there ever was and bla bla bla...(I'm sarcastically over-exaggerating here, but he was trying to tell me how amazing he was at his job.) Unfortunately, I don't care if you have had 100 million satisfied customers in your career, that had no bearing on the present conversation, which he was NOT handling very well. The manager, Justin, ended up calling me back instead of Matt (luckily for Matt.) Justin got everything taken care of that day... I SHOULD deduct a star for the following fact, but i'll let it slide. I just had to drain the windshield wash reservoir trying to keep my windshield from icing over as i drove home. These guys at KIA put the cheap, blue wash in there. Not the orange stuff that is freeze proof. Pretty lame. What did they save, a dollar? I thought only Toyota cut corners like that. Otherwise, the car is running great some six months down the line. A road trip to the east coast and daily use has put about 7,000 miles on the whip. My free Sirius satellite radio expired on Xmas and i don't miss it one bit. Howard was cool for a little while, but it's not worth 12 bucks a month. The other stations were a massive disappointment. The tires have held up on the war torn streets of Lakewood and West Park. Considering the recent plague of troubles Toyota has been having, I'm glad we haven't sped out of control to our fiery deaths. I probably just jinxed the car, huh? read more

No hassle from him whats so ever On another note, I am still waiting for my trade-in to be paid off. They missed the first 10 day pay off requirement now we are approaching the second 10 days which is on the June 11th. Already had to make a payment on a car that I no longer have in my possession and I refuse to make a second. One of the vehicles isnt going to get paid until my trade-in is paid off as written in the contract. If this second deadline is missed I will contact my lawyer (That is money that is being taken from my FAMILY). Hopefully they wont drop the ball with the memorandum of title that they are suppose to mail me so i can register my new vehicle. read more

I have been to North Olmsted Halleen Kia service a few times. Every time but one I was given great service and immediate service. Once I had to wait a very long time for just an oil change and something else. My car must have been omitted from the list of cars that had to be serviced. The something else was not under warranty. I would have had to pay for it and they ended up not charging me because of the extra long wait. I also bought my car there. The price and photo in the ad I had did not match the actual deal. The wrong car was shown in the ad with the wrong price. They lowered the price of the car shown, which was more expensive, to the price in the ad and threw in some things I would have had to pay extra for. First I would like to thank Gregg Zolnai at Halleen KIA for a problem I had with a rear seat on my KIA Sedona, he worked on it for almost 30 minutes of his own time. The Halleen service department wanted to charge $54.99 no parts replacement and bring the car back five days later on what is a bad KIA Sedona flaw on the removable rear seats. If you put the seat in the right track in the wrong order you can't get it back out or get it to secure correctly. Anyone with a 2006 KIA Sedona on up will know what I'm talking about. Maybe next time I should go to another KIA dealer. read more

If I could give 0 stars for the service department, I would. While my sales experience was terrific, my first experience with the service department was beyond disappointing. First, it took three weeks to get in to have my horn fuse changed (the horn stopped working after 22 months - this is the only car I have ever owned that the horn fuse blew out). As not having a horn is a safety issue, I was very disappointed that I couldn't be seen sooner. Two days after my service appointment to change the horn fuse, I noticed that the bumper was not not aligned with the hood and that a random piece of the bumper plastic around the light was broken. What disappointed me was that the technician must have seen this and that there was no quality control check in the service department before they handed the car back over to me and I had to discover it myself. So when I called the service department, I was told that I would have to drop the car off to be fixed, then that was corrected by a more senior employee and Halleen Kia accepted my car back on a Tuesday. That was more than three weeks ago. At that time, I was told that part had to be ordered and that I should have the car back by the end of that week. One week later, I had still not received a phone call and had to call the service department once again. My service liaison, Ryan Smith, apologized and said that the car had been sent off site to an auto body shop because the dealership's auto body technician had quit more than a year ago and a new one had not been hired. When I asked why my car had been sent to an autobody shop, he couldn't explain but said it would be ready either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of week number 2. When I still did not receive a call or have an update on my car in week 3, I called the service department again and spoke to the service manager because my service liaison, Ryan Smith was on vacation. In speaking with the service manager, Chris Koppi, he assured me that they were trying to fix the bumper correctly and that it would likely be done in the next week. Because of this epic fail on the part of Halleen Kia in North Olmsted, I asked if the auto body shop could touch up three chips in my hood from road stones and Chris assured me that would not be a problem. When I picked up the car later that third week, it was raining and we could not see the hood clearly. The next day after my hood was dry in my garage, I could clearly see that the three chips in my hood had not been fixed. Again, poor quality control and follow up. Don't you think that a Service Manager would insure that the autobody shop work had been completed properly? Especially since Chris told me that the work on my car "cost me (Chris) $6000 to correct"? At that point, I was completely done and texted Chris to inform him the work hadn't been completed as promised and asked him to simply send me a tube of the matching paint so that I could fix it myself - He said it would mail me a tube of the paint, but as you might have guessed, I still have not received it. Despite excellent sales service with AJ Otis, I could not go back to North Olmsted Halleen Kia due to a lack of professionalism, lack of follow through, lack of quality control, lack of appreciation for the customer relationship. read more

BUYER BEWARE. Summary: Nice sales experience and after that management just makes excuses why common service records are not their responsibility. The sales aspect of buying fro Halleen Kia was nearly perfect. I was met at my vehicle as I pulled into their lot by a very competent salesman named Paul Poock. Paul promptly showed me to the vehicle I had called about before driving the hour it took me to arrive at the dealership and within an hour or two I was driving off the lot in my one year old Kia Certified Sorento. During my wait to complete the sale the manager, Pat Halleen greeted me as did his father, Mark Halleen, who is also the owner. They greeting was warm and seemed sincere. The problem I have is one I consider very serious but apparently the Halleen's do not. Kia has a service app called UVO to help track maintenance and other vehicle telemetrics. When I installed the app and checked for the vehicles maintenance history the app showed it as having no maintenance performed. The UVO is also a feature of the vehicle computer system and also showed no data. In other words the vehicle was being serviced at a KIA dealership by KIA trained mechanics but the data was not being inputted into the vehicle computer. I then checked car fax for the service records of the vehicle and found it also showed absolutely no service or maintenance had been done on the vehicle. I then called the dealership and after being directed back to my salesman, who said he would check on the issue for me, I called Pat Halleen when the salesman did not call me back when he said he would. In defense of the salesman I assume he was busy selling more vehicles and my after sale problem wasn't really a salesman issue. I learned from Pat that the vehicle was indeed serviced and that it had been a lease vehicle sold new by the dealership. I accepted that and felt somewhat reassured but still asked how to have the service records inputted so that the history follows the vehicle. All service had been done at Halleen and, not working in the car service and sales industry, I was informed that Halleen does not provide service data to Carfax and if I wanted it to appear in the UVO system that the owner (ME who had owned it less than a week) had to input a years worth of service data. And I had to do it manually. Here's the catch. He told me I am now the owner so if I wanted past service data in the cars maintenance computer system that is advertised to make my life easier I would have to enter it manually because I am now the owner! When this vehicle was leased wasn't Halleen the owner renting it to someone I was also told that if I wanted the next person to buy this vehicle to have reference on Carfax (which is common practice when trading in and private sales) that I would have to form a personal relationship with the folks at Carfax and personally provide them with the service history and see if they would publish it. I threatened to call KIA USA to complain and confirm that at least they had service records for the vehicle and was essentially told by Pat Halleen to "do what you have to do". KIA USA confirmed that the records existed in their system. I was eventually mailed a one page print out of of service codes and dates and mileages for the vehicle. There was no heading or letter or any other documentation to connect me with the records and nothing to authenicate the validity of them down the road when I sell the vehicle. I then spent an hour or two entering the data into UVO. I then contacted the extended warranty company to ensure that the records kept me in good standing for the policy. I was told I was covered. KIA USA certified car websites advertising promises a clean Carfax report for the vehicles sold under the program. I learned from KIA USA it didn't mean that the WOULD BE ANY INFORMATION in the the Carfax and a blank Carfax counted. It took hours and hours for me to do something that most customers would assume would be the function of the car dealership and their service department. The management of Halleen bailed on me after the sale except to replace a key fob and mail me one page of cryptic industry coded service records and an online Ohio BMV record of the transfers of the vehicle. I RECOMMEND THAT NOBODY WHO ISN'T COMPUTER LITERATE AND WORKING IN THE CAR SALES INDUSTRY BUY FROM HALLEEN KIA. BASED UPON MY SALES EXPERIENCE THEY ARE VERY EFFECTIVE AT SELLING VEHICLES BUT CARE LITTLE OR NOT AT ALL ABOUT AFTER SALES MATTERS. RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESOLVING SERVICE ISSUES ARE APPARENTLY THROWN BACK ONTO THE SALESMAN BASED UPON MY EXPERIENCE. WHEN I SENT A REQUEST VIA EMAIL TO SPEAK WITH THE OWNER, MARK HALLEN, WHO WAS VERY NICE WHEN HE SPOKE TO ME AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE REQUEST WAS IGNORED AND NOBODY RESPONDED. BUYER BEWARE. read more

My wife and I have leased 2 vehicles from Halleen and purchased 1. Although Halleen is much further away from our house than other Kia dealerships (such as Spitzer), we venture out to this one for our vehicular needs because we can always count on them treating us well and dealing fairly (as fair as you can expect in the auto industry anyways). We always work with Renaldo when we go in and he's been a pleasure to deal with. Personally I hate car dealerships of all types but if I have to deal with one, Halleen seems to be a good option. We originally ventured out to Kia after a very bad experience with Spitzer (I would never go there again) and unfortunately Halleen has since hired one of the staff we had a problem with. It's a shame but hasn't yet stopped us from going in because we've never had to deal with him (I believe his name is Charles). If you are looking for a Kia, Halleen is a safe place to shop. You'll be there for much too long as always happens at car dealerships but at least you'll leave with a good car in the end. Update The Owner of this business responded and asked that I reach out to him. That was two weeks ago and he still has not returned my call or email ...The sad thing is a counselor at Veterans Administration recommended I bypass the Kia dealership in Bedford ..less than a mile away....and drive 30 miles because in his words "They respect our Vets" UGH!!!! read more

I have put a downpayment for a 2016 Kia Sorento from this dealership. I specified that I wanted a black exterior with a light interior. I drove 50 minutes to find out that the car I was promised was black on black interior. The finance guy Oleg Gera told me this was the only option for that particular vehicle. And additional charge would be applied if I requested a light interior. That is a lie!!! Two weeks later. I returned to pick up the exact car that I asked for initially. The car had a light interior. It was equipped with rubber floor mats bit the carpet mats were missing. When confronted the staff..... Oleg was extremely rude and said that my car does not have carpet mats. That is another lie. They will take every penny you have but will not deliver on their promise. Will not be returning to this place. I recommend that you do the same. read more

Do not buy a car here! I was shopping around to pay cash for a used vehicle. Many attempts were made to manipulate me as well as force a purchase on me without listening to me or my needs. Paying cash and they sent my credit information out to 6 creditors and I know have that many inquiries on my credit. Do not buy from these people.
