Always an amazing event year after year. Will say my only complaints are they definitely over sell it to make you buy an express pass to see all the houses and they should have an age limit. Way too many obnoxious teenagers screaming and running around trying to be funny. The themes every year are so detailed and I love how they turn the entire park into a horror filled night of fun! The houses are over the top in the best way when it comes to detail. They have some amazing drinks around the park and they offer a refillable souvenir cup that gets you slightly discounted drinks when you bring it back throughout the year. My favorite drink this year was the Deadly Nightshade which was a tequila based drink. The right amount of sweetness! Some rides are also open during the event and I love doing The Mummy because it matches the horror theme of the event perfectly! read more

I've been going to Halloween Horror Nights for several years now, and this year felt much more organized, especially with the lines and accessibility stations. We went on a Saturday, so we expected large crowds and long waits, but Universal definitely improved how they manage things. There were multiple stations throughout the park where you could get a return time instead of going to each house, which made it a lot more convenient. Most houses had wait times of over an hour, with Five Nights at Freddy's, Terrifier, and Jason all sitting around 100 minutes or more. The posted times were pretty accurate. I appreciated that they give you a small ticket in the queue in case you need to use the restroom so as long as someone from your group stays in line, a team member will help you rejoin them. Food-wise, it was hit or miss (and overpriced, as expected). The s'mores were just okay- too sweet and the bread was tough, so I wouldn't get them again. The sausage was decent and came with two swirls, and the spiked coffee was tasty once you stir the marshmallow in. The BBQ wings were a no for me! They were drenched in sauce and way too messy for walking around. The cheese stick was a great comfort snack, and the Flamin' Hot elote was really good! Of course, we had to grab a butterbeer. I usually go for the frozen one, but this time the icicle one was perfect for that crunch and super refreshing. Some of the themes didn't fully land for me, and a lot of the jump scares seemed to go off right before or after our group, which made a few houses feel less immersive. That said, the attention to detail in the houses (especially Terrifier, Freddy's, Fallout and Jason) was incredible. My top four houses this year were Jason, Dollhouse, Five Nights at Freddy's, and El Artista. Overall, we managed to get through all of the houses, grab a few snacks, take some breaks, and even fit in a couple of rides so it definitely felt worth it. Just note that parking isn't free unless you're a passholder, so plan for that extra cost. read more

Best year ever! Went to HHN 43 this year on Sunday, the 28th of September and did not disappoint. The themed houses were incredibly done and definitely the home of horror. The scare actors were everywhere in the houses and even unique smells. Scare zones were epic! The Cat Lady on Crooked Lane with a haunted house experience and scary cat creatures was really unique. Loved the Club Horror scare zone with the dj and dancers. The Mel's Die-In had zombies on roller skates serving body parts on a tray. I was able to go on the Mummy ride and Gringotts ride plus see the show which was fantastic called Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay. Diagon Alley had a Death Eaters Encounter. Made it in all 10 horror houses by purchasing a separate ticket Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass. A must see is the Dead Coconut Club in City Walk called Koven. It's a two story club with a spooky takeover of sororities and fraternities. I really loved the design and themed drinks. Ordered some really good food items and drinks like the famous pink cupcake themed from Five Nights at Freddy's. It had chocolate cake inside with jam, white chocolate and pink frosting with chocolate eyes and teeth. I ordered the Phantom punch cocktail at the Club Horrir ba Overall HHN 43 was a really fun experience and terrifying. I opened the event at 6:00pm and closed it at 2:00am. I will definitely be taking part in HHN 44 next year in 2026. read more

This was our first ever trip to Universal, and we decided to check out Halloween Horror Nights, and what an experience! We paid extra for Scream Early, which was definitely worth it, and spent some time shopping and trying a bunch of the exclusive food options before diving into the haunted houses. We were able to make it through Terrifier, Wyatt Sicks, FNAF, Fallout, and Jason Universe. The FNAF house had such awesome theming , easily one of my favorites. The lines can get pretty intense though, with some hitting two hours or more, and most of the houses rely heavily on jump scares. I'm more of a rides person, so I do wish there were more ride options open during the event or maybe even a few Halloween overlays to mix things up. That said, the Harry Potter area absolutely blew me away, and that's coming from someone who's never read the books or watched the movies. I could've stayed there for hours! The Cat Lady Alley scare zone was also so mesmerizing and creepy but beautiful and fun at the same time. Out of all the food we tried, the fried carrot cake was hands-down the best. Overall, we had a fantastic time and I'm glad we went. I'm not sure I'd go back specifically for Halloween Horror Nights again, but I definitely want to plan another Universal trip just to explore more of the park and check out Epic Universe too. read more

Has someone who's been going to Halloween Horror Nights since 2015, I can honestly say that it continues to impress every year. It's fair to say that certain years are better than other ones, but is also fair to say but they are consistently enjoyable and always have something for every horror fan. There's been a trend in recent years, where the non IP houses (i.e those created by Universal as opposed to the partnerships such as Fallout or Jason etc...) have been very strong. In the past you would expect the higher level for the houses with the recognizable names, but now all of the houses can provide some of the best scares and set design that you'll see across the event. There is always a wide selection of food and drinks that are available especially for Horror Nights, and the real struggle is knowing which ones to spend your money on and which ones you can avoid that year. If I were to give any negatives to this event, it would be the certain nights it can be very busy and you have to be aware of this and plan for this. Whether this is staying early after a day at the park, staying until the close of the event (typically at 2am) or spending extra on an express pass. This is an event that I will come back to year after year, as of many of my friends, colleagues and fellow scare enthusiasts. read more

HHN has been on my bucket list for ages. My husband surprised me with a trip for my birthday and got us the express passes. Even with the express pass the lines were crazy long. We did everything and it took from opening to close! We didn't even have time to stop for food or catch a show. They aren't limiting tickets so be prepared to spend an insane amount of time in lines with the express passes. I was disappointed and I wouldn't go again. I think my cities haunted amusement park is a 1000 times better and I'm still shocked I think this. The scare zones were just so lame! I'm sticking with Scarywood. read more

It was my first time but I happily attended with some OG HHN patrons. They helped me navigate the smoke filled streets, numerous clubs, bar stands and various themed haunted houses. Some waits were close to an hour and others they fast passed us in +/-15 minutes. Between attractions you walk around getting spooked by many characters either living almost dead or should definitely be dead. It is an unreal display of blood and gore. The haunted houses had suprises around every corner. The characters and actors were exceptional in both makeup and character portrayals. Enjoy! read more

It's a local original, a rite of passage, and like everything in Florida, it's hit-or-miss depending on how much patience and tolerance for screaming teenagers you've got. It's not just horror--it's organized trauma with churros. The haunted houses? Some are jaw-dropping, movie-quality sets where you're dodging chainsaws and walking through nightmares. Others feel like Spirit Halloween got a stimulus check. It's either Hollywood-level horror or "IKEA furniture but spooky." That's the HHN gamble--you never know if you're about to be blown away or just bumped into by a sweaty guy in a rubber mask. The scare zones scattered through the park? Brilliant when they're packed with fog, fire, and actors who commit like they're auditioning for The Walking Dead. But then there are moments where it feels like you're just dodging vape clouds and stroller traffic. Nothing kills immersion faster than Leatherface stopping for a selfie. The lines are brutal. You'll wait an hour for a house, sometimes more. By the time you get inside, you're less scared of the monsters and more scared of your feet falling off. Horror Nights was an absolute blast! I'm a huge Halloween fan, and Universal does everything right. The park looks fantastic, they have plenty of staff for check-in, themed food and drinks are yummy, etc. The houses were pretty good, but I'd say the scare zones were even better. I also loved the rave area by Fisherman's Warf, it was so spooky and cool. But the real star was the show "Circus of Decay" -- this was a crazy dancer/acrobat show with thumping music and...somewhat clothed performers It's a real treat and a touch racy (in my opinion it's not too bad though), but it's a must see. Protip: the "Stay and Scream" package is absolutely worth it -- we were in the park after it closed for normal operation, and before HHN officially opened. Been a horror fan since I was a kid. I've always wanted to experience HHN but just never could get here. Finally I made it this year for opening weekend and I wasn't disappointed. All the houses were amazing, the food great and all the staff/actors were top notch. We went with the RIP tour and that's the way to go. We got to walk right in to each house without waiting. A little back story of each house which was a nice touch. Plus upfront seating for the show at the end which was one of the best shows I've seen at any theme park ever. Halloween Horror Nights Orlando is pretty fun! They close off the rest of Universal Studios in the afternoon so you have a couple of haunted houses, rides, and some restaurants/vendors still available. My friends and I came here on a bachelorette trip. We rode Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts first. Then we checked out the haunted houses in Jason's Universe and Five Night's at Freddy's. Both of the haunted houses had long wait times. About 1-2 hours. At the end we rode the Mummy ride twice and I loved it! The rides didn't have long waits, but the haunted houses did. As an avid horror fan, I asked myself in Jan 2024 if I could attend HHN in Orlando this year. It wasnt until Aug that I decided I could haha. Honestly living in LA, I was super overwhelmed with the lines at the Hollywood location. On top of that prices are ridiculous, there is no space and people can be rude. Ticket came out to about 180, we paid for the HHN standard ticket and added on early entry. Early entry allotted us the chance to arrive at 3:00pm and enter mazes at 6:00pm instead of the 7:00pm entry. We ubered to the park and they allowed us to enter at 350. Instead of standing in line we went to Diagon Alley and on the MIB ride. We explored before the storm hit. Once it hit we stood in line for Insidious the most popular maze. We hit up 8 mazes, 2 rides, all the scare locations and were still able to eat and walk around. In relation to LA, i think its a million times better. More organized. The longest line we waited in was an hour. The rest were 45 min and under. Definitely bigger space and more aesthetically pleasing. Would I do it again yes! I do recommend doing it early in the season and doing early entry. Totally worth it. read more

I was excited to finally experience Halloween Horror Nights, but honestly, it was one of the most disappointing (and expensive) theme park events I've ever been to. Wait Times & Value The wait times were brutal. I stood in line for over two hours just to get into the "Five Nights at Freddy's" house. After that long wait, I expected at least some suspense or creativity. Instead, it felt like walking single-file through a series of thrift-store-decorated rooms. No buildup, no shocking moments, no immersive storytelling--just the occasional "jump scare" that was predictable and flat. The crowd killed any tension because you shuffle through like cattle, and anything that could've been scary was spoiled by people ahead of you. Food & Costs When I tried to salvage the night with food, I paid $14 for a corn dog. Not only was it overpriced, but it didn't make the evening feel any better. The entire event feels like an overhyped, over-marketed cash grab. Creativity (or Lack of It) Where's the suspense? The clever buildup? The jaw-dropping sets and characters that haunt you afterward? None of that was there. Universal once had a reputation for innovation, but this event felt uninspired and lazy. It reminded me more of a generic overpriced shopping mall than a world-class horror experience. Bottom Line If you're looking for thrills, scares, or even just entertainment worth the money--you won't find it here. Unless you enjoy long lines, bland scares, and overpriced food, I'd say skip Halloween Horror Nights. Not worth the time, not worth the cost. read more

My friend wanted to come to horror night, as she visits Universal often but has never been. It happens during the Halloween season, if you want to come and get scared. The concept is 10 haunted houses, 4 scare zones, and a horror show while the park is open late until 2am. The fun part is they had 4 rides that were open as well: Transformers, the Mummy, Harry Potter Ride (Escape from Gringotts), and 1 more I can't remember. We did 1 haunted house - The Last of Us. Even with the Fast Pass, it took a long time in the line, maybe 30+ minutes? Then, we did all of the rides. The scare zones were just 4 designated places around the park, where staff in scary costumes could jump out and scare you with props surrounded by smoke. I got a hot butterbeer in Digon Alley, it was delicious, would recommend. Last we did the horror show, wow, it was like a fire show plus dominatrix meets magic show. Overall, it was fairly fun and suspensful, but the lines for haunted houses were too long. Maybe if we had gone earlier, it would not have been that bad? And we could have done more. First off, we are pretty big fans of HHN. This is our first one here in Orlando with the other visit in Hollywood. It is located in Universal Florida. I highly recommend you have a ticket for the day so that way you are in the park ahead of regular ticket holders for hhn. This gives you an advantage to stage in a stay and scream area to get into the headliner houses which this year is Stranger Things and Last of us. Otherwise, you will be waiting over an hour just to get started on a house. There are usually 10 houses, 4 scare zones, and 1 show to see. We were able to do all of this over a span of 2 nights with an express pass the second night. I highly recommend the express pass to really cut back on your wait times. Plus, you get access to the rides that are open with virtually no wait. I really enjoyed the houses and scare zones. There are a few downsides to a visit. To get to some houses, be ready to walk a half mile from the line entrance to the actual house entrance and vice versa to exit. This boggled my mind and feet/legs. The food was mediocre and expensive. There is plenty of beer and mixed elixirs. However, be prepared to pay elevated prices. One thing that I was totally looking forward to was having a ration can from fedra for you last of us fans, but that didn't happen. I guess they ran out of the ration supplies to a cordycep emergency, lol. The show was ok if you don't mind being packed in like a sardine. The female leads did amazing acrobatics, and if you enjoy skimpy clothing for both sexes, then this show is for you! Overall, despite some of the shortcomings, you should enjoy yourself here! I been attending HHN for many years, but I have to say...it's not fun anymore. The houses were ok, nothing that stood out from last HHH. It's over priced and yet you pay a premium to skip lines and you still have to wait close to 45 minutes. Whatever Universal is doing, good for them as they are racking the profits. First off, I just want to say that I far prefer Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood, but I did give Orlando a try. One thing I didn't love about HHN Orlando is that the houses are way more spread out so there's a ton of wasted time and energy just walking from spot to spot. I will say, though that when I went, they had an "alien Invasion" theme going on, so there were sci fi alien hunter scarers walking around to jump at you and keep you entertained if you were just standing around, so that was a nice touch. Another slight point in Hollywood's favor is that their houses seem to be put together/themed a little better than Orlando's, maybe because they are right there in Hollywood where a ton of film production companies are already located, so they are created better there. When we went, my favorite houses were Beetle Juice (which wasn't actually very scary, just fun), The Haunting of Hill House, and the original concept idea, The Wicked Growth. They also had a Universal Monsters house, which had been done the previous year in Orlando, but is always a blast. Also, unless you live near the park and plan to go multiple nights (and spend each night waiting in lines for hours and maybe doing two houses per visit), GET SKIP THE LINE TICKETS. They are so worth the cost because you have a much shorter line and can get through all of the houses in one night. If you've traveled that far just to visit during Horror Nights, don't skimp when it really matters - go with skip the line! So, my recommendation is that if you can only make it to Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando, then go to that. But if you have a choice between Orlando and Hollywood, I would choose Hollywood. read more

This year's Halloween Horror Nights was a lot of fun! My top 2 houses were Slaughter Sinema 2 & Ghostbusters. The scare actor in the frozen room caught me totally by surprise, even more so than Insidious. The show was fantastic of course, I'm a big fan of the Fuel Girls I hope that crew comes out every single year to this event. My favorite dessert of the night was the Candy Corn Blondie. Absolutely delicious, I was obsessed with it as were my friends. The Ghostbusters Marshmallow Smore was cute but served cold to preserve the shape of the Michelin man. The merchandise this year was great too, we waited until the end of the season when most of the merchandise was 70% off however not all the sizes are available anymore so take that info with a grain of salt. With Epic Universe opening next year, budget cuts were very obvious in several areas of the event. Nonetheless we had a great time and I will be buying my Ultimate Pass again next year! read more

I purchased a regular ticket and was able to attack 5 houses, all the scare zones, watch the show and grab a yummy bite to eat... oh yeah... and a cocktail of course. I had so much fun that I'll have to get one of the passes so I can go multiple times. I binge watched stranger things to prepare for the house and it was worth it!!! That was my favorite house.... Being a nerd of all things horror, HHN is one of my favorite yearly events. There's nothing like smelling the liquid fog in the air & gasoline from the scareactor's chainsaws all throughout Universal Studios. Throw in some amazing props/costumes from the scarezones & screams from the guests all night long & it's hard to not be drawn in by such a cool event. Although the crowds do get big as it gets closer to Halloween, it's something you can expect from any special event at a theme park. I would strongly suggest getting a fast past if you want to see all the haunted houses. Between an admission ticket & fast pass, you'll be spending some money but personally I don't see a problem since it's only once a year. My favorite thing about HHN is feeling like you're actually walking through a movie set. The attention to detail throughout each house cannot be missed. Unfortunately, with the way they constantly file in the lines you can have bad timing which can lead you to missing out on the jump scares. They also offer some amazing food & drink options that are horror-themed (who would've guessed) which you must try! It's hard to pinpoint any specific dish that stands out because there are SO many to choose from but I absolutely loved the pizza skulls they had this year. The specialty mixed drinks are good but they're not that strong; the prices are a bit steep but you do get a souvenir cup with it that lets you get "cheaper" refills. They also offer seasonal beers which are hard to find elsewhere. I would highly suggest checking HHN out if you were ever curious. Wasn't that impressed with this years HHN again. Don't get me wrong, the houses are always impressive and the work that goes into them will forever amaze me. I enjoyed stranger things as they really brought the show to life and if you've watched and loved the show you'll appreciate this house! The jungle of doom scare zone was great and also my favorite. The vamp of 69' scare zone was nice, but I was completely oblivious about the fact they were vampires, I swore they were zombies the whole time. My favorite drink of the night was the electric death! we have a better strategy for this year. We have annual passes and bought frequent fear plus passes. It does also help we live 15 minutes away. We've been here three times so far this season and have had a great time. We tend to get to the parking lot around 4:30 to be sure to get into the park before five. we've been able to go to all, but one of the houses so far. our most recent visit we stayed in the Lombards waiting area then went to the goblins feast house first. Second, we went to the museum house and there was absolutely no line. We were able to go through the entire house completely alone. It's a whole different experience. our last house we were trying to get to was monstrous near the front entrance. We were headed that way around 6:07 and as we were leaving the scare zone after Springfield area, there was a huge crowd of people coming our way. There were so many people going into that house at the entrance. I knew the weight would be longer than the 10 minutes posted so we headed home. My favorite food so far is the stay puff marshmallow man. The new circus show is entertaining, but I did not like the theme as much as previous years. read more

2023 Horror Nights Review It was my first time back in about 15 years, and here's my take. Basically, if you don't have $140 plus extra to buy a fast pass - be prepared to WAIT. We went on a Sunday in mid-September and I must say- it seemed just as busy as a Friday or Saturday. Wait times fluctuated through the evening, sometimes getting as low as 35 minutes or as high as 70 minutes. The two most popular houses - Stranger Things & Last of Us- consistently had wait times between 80 minutes to 120 minutes. Never any shorter. The houses are VERY well done. 10 houses and 5 Scare zones offer a non-stop fear fest. Theming around the park was immersive and wonderful. But the lines really are exhausting. Lines for houses and lines for food & drinks. People just everywhereeeee. They do keep several of the regular rides open, which is VERY helpful to distribute crowds at least some, and offer a reprieve from the long lines for houses. While there are lines for the regular rides, they are about half of what the lines for the houses are. Plus, I love the regular rides so def this was great that they were open!! :) Despite all the lines, we had a great time and will prob go again in the future. read more

Get ready to wait. I went on a Wednesday and even at 11pm most houses still had an average wait time of 70min. Since they sell fast passes the time posted may not be the amount of time you wait. The express pass and VIP tours may add additional wait time so keep that in mind. It was $30 to park which I felt was a little steep. Lots of money grabs from universal so it made it a less than enjoyable experience. I do appreciate that they have some of the rides open. Some of the rides had no wait time which was a relief after waiting for the houses. The houses were good but I'm not sure I'll go back. If you don't mind crowds or waiting in long lines you may enjoy yourself. If you go I would say don't have the expectation that you will do all of the houses. Even on weekdays. read more

We went this past Sunday night and had a great time. We've been hearing about this event for years and years and finally had an opportunity to attend. Overall, a fun experience. Was it worth the hype? Well, kind of. We got to go through 6 of the 10 haunted houses. They were fun, but started to become predictable. Especially when you'd see staff members in the haunted houses, you knew someone was just around the corner ready to scare you. I know the staff is there for the safety of the actors (and guests) but they kind of take away from the haunts themselves. We loved being able to also just walk right onto a ride with no line. And to walk into the Leaky Cauldron and not have the usual wait. Food was great, atmosphere was incredible. read more

I love going to Halloween Horror Nights! The lines get kinda long so expect to wait anywhere from 20-60 minutes just to get into a house. The scare zones are cool but I hate the chainsaw people. They freak me out..lol..yes, I know that's their purpose. The Halloween house with Michael Meyers was my fave this year. It's hot so make sure you have water and possible a cool down towel for before the sun sets. The lines weren't too bad for the treat stations, but we did go the first weekend. They have a yummy velvet cake RIP treat on a stick and the skull pizza is a great "finger food". Make sure you choose your houses wisely in case you're like us and don't make it through them all. read more

Halloween Horror Nights is clearly the world class Halloween theme park event worldwide. Universal Studios has access to classic IP horror properties such as Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Universal Monsters and so much more that rotate every year - the houses for these are extremely detailed and are like you're walking into the movie/tv sets themselves. The "original" haunted houses there are okay, nothing too outstanding like the IP houses are, very comparable to your local haunt and quite generic. The detail is again, very good in the original houses and also in the scare zones that you walk through. There are 2 shows - 1 water show in the Universal lake and one stunt show that is in the old Fear Factor show area, these are both amazing and I'd highly recommend watching both. There is also plenty of themed food and drinks available for purchase throughout the night, all expensive but pretty good and unique. There is also a tribute store located by the Mummy ride that has tons of merchandise available. If you take anything away from my review, please take this - if you want to do EVERYTHING that the event has to offer in one night, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying their Express Pass that allows you to skip the general admission lines to Haunted houses and rides throughout the night, you will need it if you're going on a Friday or Saturday especially. To me personally, the event is not enjoyable without the Express Pass but just know in advance that it is very expensive and can cost more than your admission ticket. If you attend Universal during the day, take advantage of waiting in a "stay and scream" area where you can beat the general public into the event and finish a few houses fairly quickly. Overall, this is the best Halloween theme park event hands down and I have attended all of them (Fright Fest, Howl o Scream, HHN, etc.). Be prepared to spend a lot of money and wait in very long lines. read more

Colossal waste of time and money. Slapped together. I'd rather have spent time at Universal Studios park without the horror night. Would have been more fun and less expensive. Some employees were total a holes. Must be some marginally trained seasonal workers running around with chainsaws. read more
