    Lacto-Kooler sour beer
    Allison B.

Howl-O-Scream is Orlando's best kept secret when it comes to Halloween events. It strikes the perfect blend of affordability and theme park level production value. This year they had four roller coasters and five haunted houses to visit. Due to the crowds being thinner than their competition, my party was able to ride three rides and visit four houses in the span of just four hours. I loved how interactive the scare actors were as well. After engaging with a creepy clown, she casually walked and talked with us throughout the entirety of the scare zone. This definitely isn't for everyone, and I appreciated that she asked whether she could walk with us before doing so. My one complaint about the event would be that the themes of the haunted houses did not change from last year to this year. While unimportant for first timers to the event, this was a bit of a letdown. Overall, however, I would still revisit next year - even if the theming stayed the same again. Howl-O-Scream is my favorite way to get my annual theme park fix and ring in "spooky season." If you're a fan of sour beers, I highly recommend trying the Lacto-Kooler! It tastes just like blue raspberry candy, without being too overpowering!

We did Howl-O-Scream both this year and last year. I love that this event has shorter lines as compared to HHN and they also let in small groups at a time versus a Congo line scenario so it makes for better scares and appreciating the atmosphere of the houses. The houses are pretty well done. My only gripe was they were the same as last year. It would have been cool to have it changed up a bit. The scare zones are really good! I definitely got jump scared multiple times! Overall, while this event may not have some of the franchises we are used to in horror, it still does a good job bringing the scares without spending all night in line.

First time doing Howl-o-Scream as we did both (HHN) I must say it was fun wished the houses would have been scarier. The scare zones were interesting to go through but were not scary. it was a fun night and the food was yummy. I will return next year as we had lots of fun. I would recommend it.

    Incredible Performers!!!!!

Unbelievable show! Incredible choreography, singing & performances by all! Seaworld has pulled off another incredible Monster Stomp show!!! The performance of each person on that stage was flawless! we had the honor to watch 2 shows with 2 totally different leads, but both equally as great as each other! HUGE shoutout to all the dancers who kill it each time! even at the last show, 11pm, you wouldn't know they had been performing all night! They killed it! Can't wait for it again next year!!!!

The worst Halloween of my life. I took my 12 year old daughter and her friend this evening. It started out great until my daughter's friend ran up to one of the actors and wanted her picture taken with him. He started yelling at her and told her "you can't scare me". I had my phone in my hand and took the picture 10/31 @ 9:29 and he got right up in my face in a threatening manner and told my he was going call security and have us kicked out. I am 70 years old. I very respectfully told him we just wanted a picture with him and the girls. We walked away and the next thing I knew a security person came over and talked to us. Thankfully the security gard was very understanding and professional. He told us we were fine and not to worry. Needless to say the evening was ruined because of this individual and we left. I hope this is all on CCTV. My daughter and I have had Gold passes to Sea world for the past 5 + years. Regrettably tomorrow I will cancel both.

I had an enjoyable evening, but the houses are the same scare premise with either the performer hiding or using a panel to appear. I did enjoy the Jack the Ripper inspired show and the Lost Souls Hideaway. The scare zones were interesting to travel through, but was not scared in any of them. The lighting and fog does make it challenging to maneuver through at times. Glad we went, not sure if I'll go back.

Right off the bat, it's just a very different vibe from Walt Disney World. Parking felt like a free-for-all (we got lucky with a close spot), and entry was super basic--scan and go, nothing special. We got there around 3 and went straight to the Orca show at Shamu Stadium, which was actually really good. The park didn't feel too crowded, but ride wait times were still long. This trip was all about our son, and Sesame Street Land at SeaWorld Orlando delivered. Seeing him in his Elmo outfit light up during the parade was everything. Food at Altitude Burger was underwhelming--expensive, basic, and the seating area needed some attention cleanliness-wise. The highlight, though, was the animal experiences. The dolphin viewing at Dolphin Nursery had my son completely mesmerized--nonstop smiles, talking, just pure joy. SeaWorld has its flaws, but for kids and animal encounters, it really delivers. Final Verdict: 4 overall, 5 for kid happiness--because at the end of the day, that's what matters most

This included "free" parking, albeit the parking lot attendants could be more helpful directing those with elevated season passes to the correct location. This review is a couple weeks late, but we went at the beginning of their annual Seven Seas Food Festival. Those venues did not open until late afternoon, so we ended up eating at one of their restaurants for lunch (which wasn't too bad actually). I had spoken to a rep at customer service who informed me a couple of the perks, as a platinum season ticket holder, that a couple of the perks were not applicable here in Orlando, such as no allotted free guest passes. I was told we could transfer our passes to Orlando, but the cost would be twice as much then our "great deal" passes from San Diego (we passed of course). The park listed the hours of operation until 8pm, but they were closing everything, except the gift shops of course, at 7pm; thus we did not get to go up in the Sky Tower to watch the sunset. A custodian employee working that area was kind of dumbfounded that nobody (other employees) was there as well. I planned to give this visit a 2 star rating (could've been better), but opted for 3 (OK) because we did enjoy a couple of shows and the Expedition Odyssey ride. BTW, there are a couple bars that actually have a 'happy hour' but it is not advertised. We were only informed of this by the guest services employee who volunteered the 411.

From the moment we arrived to when we left, everything was really well done. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which set the tone right away. They have a buffet for breakfast and lunch with a good variety of options, so I feel like most people could find something they like. There are also smaller stands with snacks, pizza, and ICEE stations. Now let's talk about the drinks. There is just something about a frozen daiquiri when you're by the water. Highly recommend getting the drink package and trying a few... or all of them if you can handle it. I loved how many different areas there were to explore. Seeing dolphins swimming so close to the beach was actually kind of magical. They also have a monkey island which I was really excited about. It was closed when we got there, but I could still see them from a distance and I loved that. The aviary was really cool too. Tons of birds, but also tons of people. They recommend going first thing when the birds are most active, which we did, but so did everyone else. We got there about 45 minutes after opening and the birds already seemed a little over it. Honestly, I don't blame them. The Grand Reef was such a cool experience. I didn't really know what to expect, and even though it's man made, it still feels really immersive. Some of those rays are huge and have zero fear. They will swim right into you. My guy had never experienced anything like that and he loved it. I also liked that there were shallow areas and deeper sections if you wanted more of a snorkeling feel. The only downside for us was the Wind Away River. There are spots that get deep really fast, and that day they were apparently out of floaties because people were hoarding them and claiming areas. Staff even acknowledged it, which was frustrating because nothing was being done about it. It made parts of the river harder to enjoy than they should have been. Other than that, everything else was great and it made for such a fun day. Also the bar swings were a highlight. Loved those.

I had heard from locals that it's a great local option over the big theme parks. Fun Spot was pretty great, for what it was. Free parking, free admission if you don't plan on riding rides, also a discounted adult pass if you only are going on rides with your kid who is too young to ride alone. The whole place was small, maybe the area of a handful of city blocks. And on the Sunday afternoon when we went, the place was quiet enough that we never waited more than a few minutes to get onto a ride. As we were only there for a couple hours, the cashier recommended the 4 ride pass for my kids, and the companion pass for me. But if one were to spend more hours there, buying the day pass online for $59.95 is quite a bargain. Not all rides were open, but the "big" rides that most kids want (the roller coasters and the go carts) were open. My daughter, who is not a big roller coaster fan, had a harder time finding kiddie rides that she actually wanted to go on, and she watched the go carts and didn't even want to try those with me driving. However, the place was small enough that I felt fine leaving my 10 year old son to go on rides by himself while I went on the Ferris wheel or the merry go round with my 8 year old. There are a bunch of food options available throughout the park. They were definitely more affordable than Disney prices! Most of the places offered souvenir cups with discounted refills, but there were also water stations set up throughout with free cups. I'd definitely come back if I had a few hours to burn and the kids didn't want to go swimming. Hopefully at some point, my daughter will change her mind about roller coasters, though!

We had a beautiful day to visit and smiled throughout the day. Some of our best moments were walking through the various city streets and seeing musical performances and dancing. The walkways were wide and we were never on top of other guests. Most rides had reasonable wait times and/or offered single rider options. The locker areas for cramped, but I appreciated how many of the wait queues were indoors, keeping us cooler and away from the rain. The Harry Potter sections were amazing, just amazing. I couldn't have imagined how it would have felt being in the middle of the space. Restaurants, both sit down and quick service, were scattered throughout the park. I loved that we didn't have to worry plan in advance to get a spot at either. My only downside to Universal Studios is that some of the themes felt outdated or just aren't favorite characters of mine. At least this helped to decrease the temptation of spending money on apparel or merchandise.

(I haven't seen a single one of those movies either!) I'm much more a fan of roller coasters than motion simulators so I like Islands of Adventure a good deal more than USF. I also like the theming more, apart from the Springfield area and Diagon Alley. The whole studio backlot/cityscape isn't as interesting to me. It's still a pleasant looking park though. The layout seems more confusing than IOA which is really straightforward and simple. Maybe part of it is this was my maiden voyage to USF while I'd been to IOA once before but there's just more nooks and crannies here. I've done reviews for most of the major rides and Diagon Alley. Simpsons and Transformers are elite, E.T. is a wonderful blast of nostalgia and weirdness we must protect at all costs, Escape from Gringotts is way overrated even if the queue theming and preshow is superb, I got no love for Jimmy Fallon or his stupid ride, the indoor Mummy coaster is surprisingly good still leaves this park's coaster lineup lagging way behind its neighbors, Men in Black is okay but not worth waiting in a long line for and the Minions shooter game was a quick diversion I never even bothered to do a review for. I'm just seeing we missed another Minions ride, a motion simulator. It was such a whirlwind of queues with almost no wait I guess it was easy to miss one. The Blues Brothers musical revue was an absolute blast with an awesome setting. And the Mardi Gras parade wrapped itself around the city streets around the diner where my sister and I ate dinner with us looking out the window and had parade to spare both before and after our meal! It went on for over half an hour. Universal didn't chintz out on that at all. Cast members, floats and flying beads aplenty. There were more shows, too, with stuff like behind the scenes on how Hollywood does makeup, stuff like that. We skipped these but stuff like this is why I wish I'd gotten my parents to this park before they passed. They'd have loved stuff like that, the Blues Brothers and the Hogwarts express. They seemed to like Islands of Adventure okay but I think they'd have liked this park considerably more. The theming, too, I think they'd have enjoyed more. This park closed a couple hours early on the weekday we visited, booked by some high rollers for a private event so we ended our day where we started at Islands of Adventure. And though I like that park more, with a Fast and Furious coaster on the way to USF I think I'd be more eager to return here and ride that and spend more time exploring and soaking in the vibes at this park.

Since everyone talks about Epic Universe being better than Universal Hollywood, I figured I'd give it a shot. I only think this park is worth it if you have the Epic Express Pass. Without it, you'll spend most of your day in line and you won't get through everything. That's just reality. Between the Florida heat, lack of shade, and 3 hour wait times, you'll waste a huge portion of your day standing around instead of actually enjoying the park. Even with the Express Pass, I still waited around 30 minutes for several rides. Most of the standby lines I walked past, especially Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, and Harry Potter, were well over 3 hours long. Think about that for a second. You can easily spend 3 to 6 hours waiting for a couple of rides that last only a few minutes. That's not my idea of a good time. Also, the queue lines are also extremely claustrophobic in some areas. The outdoor fans aren't nearly powerful enough for the Florida heat, and unlike some other parks, there aren't enough cooling misters running through many of the queue areas. Standing in those lines gets uncomfortable fast. Pros * Pretty park. Everything is brand new, clean, and visually impressive. * The overall design and theming are excellent. * Harry Potter was pretty cool especially since I've never even seen one of the movies. * Monsters Unchained (Frankenstein) is highly underrated and was one of the best rides in the park. * The How to Train Your Dragon coaster was another good one. Cons * Express Pass is practically mandatory. * Very little shade throughout the park. * Long wait times, even with Express Pass. * Queue areas can feel cramped and uncomfortable. * Outdoor cooling fans don't do much in the Florida heat. * Food and drinks are expensive, even by theme park standards. Best Rides: * Harry Potter * Monsters Unchained (Frankenstein) * How to Train Your Dragon coaster Most Overrated Ride:Donkey Kong. I know this will probably upset some people, but I don't understand the hype. It's fast, but it's incredibly jerky. By the time it was over, I felt like I needed a back brace. Not worth the wait. Worst Ride:Mario Kart. Absolute waste of time. The instructions before boarding are confusing, the ride itself isn't very exciting, and the glasses/headset combination they make you wear is heavy and uncomfortable. Waiting hours for this attraction would be one of the biggest disappointments in the park. As someone who grew up playing Mario Kart, I found this ride pathetic. Ignore most of the blogs and YouTube videos. If you're trying to maximize your day: 1. Go straight to Super Nintendo World. It's the busiest land and best to get out of the way. 2. Do Donkey Kong first. 3. Head immediately to Harry Potter. 4. Go to How to Train Your Dragon. 5. Finish in Dark Universe with Frankenstein and Werewolf. The wait times only get worse as the day goes on. TIPS * Buy a portable misting fan on Amazon before your trip. Seriously. It will save you. The ones at the park are ridiculously overpriced. * Wear comfortable shoes. * Bring snacks. * Don't waste your money at Blue Dragon. Overpriced food and not very good. That's a separate review all by itself. Overall, Epic Universe is a visually impressive park with some good adult attractions, but the lack of shade, brutal wait times, and Florida heat make it much harder to enjoy than it should be. If you're going, get the Express Pass.
