They don't seem to have enough of the life jacket vests for the super littles, which is the age that these are most commonly worn. A lot of older kids were using the super small vests which should be regulated a little better by the staff. Staff tried to make it fun when the pool had to be cleared during the safety check. No one really wanted to participate in their games but it was still a great effort by the young staff to make the time pass quicker. I appreciated the thought! We brought our own snacks and beverages to enjoy, which I highly recommend. I also recommend arriving somewhat early or there will be a wait to snag some lounge chairs.

Located right next to Cowabunga Bay off of Fort Apache Rd., I arrived right before 6am when the pool opened on a Tuesday morning. There were already about six people there waiting for the doors to open, including my pal. Once inside, all of those people scanned themselves in since they were all in possession of passes (you can purchase a 90-day pass or an annual pass at discounted rates). Since this was my first time, I paid the $3 fee for adults 18-54 years old (it's $2 for 3-17 year-olds, and $1 for those 55 and up). If I had read the rates at the desk, I would have realized that it would have only been $1 for me since I qualify for the senior rate now--ugh! Oh well, next time. The current hours for SUMMER LAP swim are: Mon-Thurs : 6am-12pm / 3pm-7pm Friday: 6am-12pm / 1pm-7pm Saturday: 11am-3pm Sunday: Closed FALL LAP swim hours begin on August 7th: Mon-Friday: 6am-12pm / 3pm-7pm Saturday: 11am-3pm Sunday: Closed The facility is very clean and the staff is great. There are several lifeguards on duty. I didn't have to share a lane while I was there, probably because it was so early. The water was just the right temp, too; not too cold. Wanted to teach our little one water safety, so we enrolled them in private lessons at Water Wings…read more Private lessons are 30 minutes long and are 1:1 with the student and instructor. In terms of pricing, there is a 1 time $25 registration fee and $55/private lesson. The front entrance is clean and has swim supplies, snacks, and drinks you can buy. There are seats outside and inside the pool area to watch your kids. The Water Wings pool is also generally clean and warm. I wasn't the biggest fan of them having the kids play with community squirt toys, which are known to grow mold. The bathrooms and changing area are a bit mildewy, outdated, and small. During the lessons, our little one played with water toys, sang songs with the instructor, and did swim exercises. While the classes are fun, they're definitely better for older babies. They advertise lessons for babies as young as 3 months old, but I would advise against that. My baby didn't really learn water safety and just enjoyed splashing in the water and playing. Another issue is the difference in teaching styles that each instructor had. I understand a difference in personalities, but if they're baby certified, they should all be very involved, giving advice, and teaching the baby curriculum in the same manner. At times, it was obvious that some instructors were not as focused on teaching during the class because the student was a baby. Overall, if you're looking for purely water safety courses, I would look into ISR. Water Wings is a great resource for older babies and kids learning to swim, just not babies younger than 6-7 months old.
