After a thorough search on Yelp to find a lunch spot in Shawnee, we landed on Hamburger King. Not only was it easy to find, it was clearly the right choice based off how full they were! Although all the tables were full, we were able to sit at the counter to order. Burgers are made to order and the service was top notch. I really liked the wedges while my friend enjoyed the tots. Shawnee's not so hidden gem! I was told about this spot by my coworker. She raved about how good the burgers are. Y'all she was right. This place did not disappoint. It's a family owned diner that's been around for over 50 years. You feel kinda of like you're going back in time when you walk in. My little divas loved that you order food via telephone at the table. The food is delicious and made fresh when you order. I ordered The Kicker which is a bacon cheeseburger with jalapeños and pepper jack cheese along with all of the other normal burger toppings. It was delicious. My side order choice was the potato wedges which were yummy as well. No one in our party was disappointed with the food. Even the picky eaters in the group enjoyed the food. These burgers are HUGE. You can get a cheeseburger basket (with potato wedges) for under 4 bucks. At Hamburger King, you sit down at your table, look at the menu, then pick up the red phone attached to the wall at your booth and give your order to the operator (who's actually only a few feet away behind the counter). They cook it fresh for you and then bring it out.
