HAPPY EARTH DAY! What better day than today to share some love for one of my favorite local parks? Admittedly, I haven't been to Hamilton Viewpoint in a while. With Seattle summer on the horizon, we're coming up on some really amazing sunsets and Hamilton Viewpoint is one of the best spots to catch them! When I do find myself here, I usually pack some snacks and a blanket to have a little mini car picnic in the trunk of my SUV to watch the sunset (as mentioned). If you haven't done this before, I highly suggest! There's a pretty good-sized parking lot here but it does get rather busy. There's also residential street parking relatively close by if you're in a pinch. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't before! read more

I think this is one of the best spots to see Seattle's skyline with a park beside and I front of it. Take pictures!!! The only thing is that you will want to get off your car because there's a bar that might interfere with your "car pics". It can be windy in the fall. You can hang out there with your kids or park for a while. It has few spots but there's always few cars. Some of them have indoor picnics nowadays. read more

Hamilton Viewpoint Park is located just above Alki. Drive down California Ave in West Seattle towards Alki to find it. The park makes for a nice pit stop before driving down to Alki Beach located just below this viewpoint via a winding road. If you are driving to the viewpoint from Alki, make a left turn up the road after passing Marination Ma Kai. The view here is similar to what you would find at Alki except that you get a higher elevation view which makes for a slightly better shot. There are some public telescopes at this viewpoint also. Not much seating here. I guess you could have a picnic on the grass here, but I would prefer doing that at Alki instead. This is actually better than Alkai beach view point. It was my first time going up the hill and went this Hamilton viewpoint park, it was really good experience. You can actually see better than down hill near the beach. It was another great view of Seattle besides Kerry park. Even it was up on the hill, there was no hard wind blowing. Hamilton Viewpoint Park has been a favorite place of mine since I was a teenager. Nothing like a city night skyline view in your first car with your date looking out at the city. Got the mood music on, windows steamed up and from there its all good! Thanks for those memory's girls! Now the daytime view is also spectacular, just not as romantic "WINK WINK". Stunning view of downtown Seattle, the sound and Cascade mountains. This park has some lawn and parking, it's meant to be a stop just for the view. It's really beautiful. At night the lights are gorgeous of downtown. During the daytime, it's gorgeous as well and very calming for me to watch the boats move in and out of port. This park is at the north end of California, overlooking Alki Beach. read more

One of the best views in the state of Washington. Definitely the best view of the city of Seattle from land. My bike rides through here always include a stop here. That's mostly because on the up the steep hill I need a rest before it flattens out up top. Lol. There almost always cars in the parking lot with a range of people taking a break from work, tourist and locals taking selfies with an amazing background. Lots of times there's younger groups of ppl with the music turned up and enjoying a little herb. I can't imagine anyone not feeling safe here no matter what the crowd or lack of crowd is. it's such a beautiful happy place in the city. It's really just a quick stop kinda city park and not a place you would hang out all day. read more

If you need a nice landscape view of Seattle downtown from west Seattle but don't want spend hours finding a parking space at Alki beach, Hamilton's view point park is a good alternative park for Alki. Pro: Much less crowded than Alki. You can find a parking space here easily and enjoy the great Seattle downtown view. The park is on the top of hill, so you can view the Cascade mountain clearly as well. Con: At summer time some trees might block you view; there is a fence that easily show up in your pictures; you can't feel all the vibe in Alki; from time to time there are some people smoking weed in the parking lot with strong scent which is very annoying and not family friendly. The local police should definitely increase the patrol here. read more

Why not hit another view point. I stopped in at Hamilton Viewpoint with my parents so they could see yet another spectacular view of downtown Seattle. There's plenty of parking, benches and a beautiful lawn to relax and have a picnic on. One of the great things about the Hamilton Viewpoint is that it allows you to see Seattle's natural beauty along with it's urban beauty. You have a eye-catching view of the downtown Seattle, Elliott Bay, the port and the Cascade Mountains. It's kind of a secret spot but not that secret because many times I've come to relax and enjoy the view only to find a weddings taking place. If you're looking to have an outdoor wedding with downtown Seattle, Elliott Bay, the port and the Cascade Mountains as your back ground this might be the spot for you, just don't take up all the room because I do like to come here to relax sometimes. read more

We visited this park on a Sunday night after doing a Google search of BEST PLACES TO SEE THE SEATTLE SKYLINE AT NIGHT. It was far from our hotel in Bellevue, but we went for it. We got there around 8:30 PM and the view was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place! We didn't stay long, but we enjoyed every minute of it. The park felt safe while we were there. We saw 3 other cars enjoying the view. It wasn't very well lit (which was a good thing for the view), and we didn't see anything/anyone sketchy. The entrance can be easily missed if you are using Google Maps, so pay attention! Last tip/advice, turn off your headlights when you pull up to a parking spot. Everyone deserves a chance to enjoy this view without any light distractions. read more

My sister knows the best places for scenery! On her birthday, we drove over to Alki right before dinner. There's no parking whatsoever. Therefore, she recommended this park for us to chill before dinner. It was a great spot. It's higher up from the beach. There are parking in front of the viewpoint. It's very similar to Kerry Park but with more parking and different view. The city view from West Seattle is beautiful. I really enjoy it! If you are thinking about the night view-sighting, make sure you come here before 11:30PM. That's when the park closes. There will be patrol coming if you are around after hour. read more

What a beautiful view. It is so pretty and serene. What I did not like about this park is that on the 4 th of July with a huge crowd of people the Seattle Police came and told us they were closing the gates and after being there from 6:09 pm- 10:15 pm just 5 minutes before the fireworks were to start, we had to move our vehicle. Tom being a law bidding citizen and 3 others moved their cars and missed the entire fireworks show It would have been nicer had they let everyone watch the fireworks and then close the gates. As it was the police had to wait till the show was over to get all the people to leave. My husband did not get to watch the show. I was not happy with the park that closes at 10:00 pm. They could have made an exception being a holiday If I ever go to the park again, I will park outside the gates. read more

Amazing viewpoint of the city from here. For some reason though, I didn't see many non-locals there but I think most people just get off the Water Taxi and stay on the beach and aren't aware of this. For my purpose of wanting to take night photos, I opted to go to the beach after spending some time here but if you're in town with nice clear weather, you can see everything from there. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would . My family and I were really excited to have found a view point with such great reviews . We left the car for less than 10 minutes and our car was scratched. Not a small accidental scratch but huge on purpose key scratch that's going to cost us more than 2k to fix. Really upset with how cruel people can be now a days . Don't recommend going to this view point and if you do please be aware of your surroundings. read more

Our friend wanted to visit this viewpoint because she had never been. It was certainly worth it. We didn't get a chance to drive up to the top but we parked on the street right next to the oceanfront. The path looked lengthy and we spent about 30 minutes on part of the path. We got to take in the beautiful open scenery of the Seattle cityscape perfect for panoramic pictures and selfies. As we walked towards the curve of the road we approached a square-shaped area with several benches. This area would be great for large families wanting to relax on the benches and take in the scenery or view any walruses in the distance that surface. I can, and do, sit and stare for hours at the mountain, the shipping lanes, the cruise ships, ferries, and cargo ships, all the activity in the port, and the city from Beacon Hill to Magnolia. I love this park so much because the juxtaposition of our natural beauty smacks right up against the urban pretty. Always a spectacular view of the city, day or night. On a clear day, it'll remind you why you love our fair city. Take out-of-towners here or just cruise by to sneak a peak. One Yelper mentioned the patrolling - yes, take heed of the posted closing time so you are not unceremoniously booted from the park. This is just one of the many areas along the East shore of West Seattle from which you can see Downtown Seattle. Gorgeous without the hoards of tourists, babies in strollers, and whoever else that is crowding the shores of Alki beach. Hamilton Viewpoint Park rests above the beaches of Alki facing downtown Seattle, a perfect counterpoint to the view from Queen Anne's Kerry Park. This view is exceptional, especially since you're taking in the gorgeous city from a higher vantage point, so you can easily capture the ferries and freighters in your photograph (if desired). With a few park benches, a grassy nole, and some peace and quiet, this could be quite the romantic spot. A friend of mine was even proposed to here! My friend and I stopped by here with our treats from nearby Bakery Nouveau and took in the gorgeous sights and sounds of our fair city. Definitely a must-see! read more

Nice little hillside park with a great view of downtown!

This is one of my favorite places to enjoy the view of Seattle and to be by myself to reflect on things when I want to be alone. The view of Alki and from Shilshole to Mt. Rainier is spectacular on a sunny day. Back in the day I would come here with my boyfriend, now husband, often during the evenings when we didn't want to go home just yet. The parking lot gets packed during the evenings and the Seattle police will kick you out by 11:30 pm so don't think you can stay past that time. Come by on a weekday if you don't want to be surrounded by tourists. read more

Too bad the park is not very big. Billy, the Jack Russell, was done exploring it in 5 minutes. Come here purely for the views. This is a great spot to take a photo with the Seattle skyline behind you. As far as the park itself, it's very average. There are average benches, average trees, and an average parking lot. If you're not extremely attached to getting a direct view of the city, then try Gas Works Park. read more

Amazing panoramic view of the entire city of Seattle, Magnolia, Elliot Bay, Olympic and Cascade Mountains. You can take some amazing pics from this park since it is located up on the hill side above Alki. Defiantly one of the top vantage points to view the city in all it's natural beauty. It's one of those views that will keep bringing you back for more cause it is awe inspiring. What more can I say but I love Seattle. read more

Awesome park with guns a lot of paths to get lost on thankful for the fellow hiker #Sarah I met with her dog I just walked with them and thankful because I could have got lost I thought the trail went in a circle it does not. We went to Hamilton Park AFTER visiting Kerry Park and we're so glad we did. The sun was perfect for taking pictures and we still got a wonderful backdrop of the Space Needle and Downtown Seattle. Also, we were able to drive along West Seattle, stop by Salty's for a snack--great view of Seattle while sipping a cocktail),, and then grab a really good burger at Luna Park Cafe (their shakes are homemade!--you gotta try them out!) Great place to take tourists for a different view of Seattle, as well as a different non-touristy tour of West/Seattle. Really, check it out! read more

I love this place. In the evening, i sometimes park and just look at the scenery and relax after a stressful day. I work late so it helps. I have done this for years. It makes for a good zen moment.
