Sunsets here are so dreamy! This park is spread out along Magnolia Blvd W and has shoreline views throughout. There's ample green space and parking along the street, which is perfect for these sunnier days. My only gripe is that there's no restroom on site, but otherwise, it's a gorgeous lookout spot! read more

It's one of those Seattle parks tucked away in a neighborhood that you take for granted. It's big enough to not be crowded when there are 50 people there but small enough to let your kids and dogs roam free. A lot of tables, grills, a bathroom, and all the things you'd want when getting outdoors for some fresh air. There are a lot of old-growth trees that provide shade all year round. When it was 100+ during the summer of 2021, it was a good 20' cooler here. For the tourist looking at the dry grass, we are in the middle of an unusual drought here. Take care of your parks and they'll take care of you. There's a good bit of aerial acrobatics from the local hawks. I've seen them take out other flying friends. read more

Nice quiet park in the nice neighbourhood. I like coming here with my dog so she can meet other dogs :) Walk around (the park is not that big :)), and then sit on a bench. The view is really nice. Parking wasn't that easy; at least for me. But you can always walk from a nearby street and walk through the cute bridge. read more

Nice, enclosed park in the Magnolia neighborhood. It's walking distance to much of the residential area, yet is off a main street and has parking for those who don't live in the area. On a sunny Saturday Magnolia Park was not at all busy. We walked around here with our dog and saw that the park was spacious enough for her to run around, but wasn't so large that we'd lose her. In addition to some walking trails and pathways there is a playground area with picnic tables throughout the area. The bathrooms are in an old building on the side, and not sure if they were locked for the season or permanently, but it wasn't open during my visit. Since the park is slightly downhill and is fenced off where trees are - there is a view of Elliott Bay, but not much. Magnolia Park is a nice, small, neighborhood park, ideal for the nearby residents who can walk here and enjoy the open space. read more

Magnolia Park has an outstanding view of downtown Seattle, especially at night. It also has a great view of the sound, and it's really beautiful on a clear day, especially with the ferries and boats going in and out. The park is clean and safe. There's a tennis court and a lot of lawn for hanging out and playing with the kids or fur kids. There's a play area for the kids, too. You can rent the picnic shelter here through the City of Seattle which includes a couple BBQ grills and tables. There's no power or running water though. I set up a company picnic here this summer, and everyone really loved the park. Parking is free and the lot can sometimes get full but there's street parking just down the road. read more

Fun Fact: The Magnolia neighborhood and park were misnamed by a Navy geographer who wrongly identified the area's madrona trees as magnolias. The city bought the park in 1910. "Madrona" Park is a fantastic place to do a couple of my favorite things: 1) Play tennis. 2) Take a nice walk after playing tennis. If there were a no vacancy sign hanging from the fence, it would hardly be on as I have almost never had to wait more than a few minutes for an open court. Definitely a welcomed change when compared to the other courts at West Magnolia Playfield - where you can barely swing your racket without hitting a newbie attempting a volley. The courts here are fantastic, the view is fantastic, and absence of tourist herds is especially fantastic. read more

When people think of Magnolia parks, usually they're thinking of Discovery Park. But the self-titled Magnolia Park is a pretty nice option also. While not as large as Discovery Park and without the benefit of a lighthouse, Magnolia Park boasts gorgeous views of the Sound, an abundance of picnic tables, swings and some tennis courts. There's a small path along the park that takes you to the cliff views out across the Sound. There's also a number of smaller Magnolia viewing stations that are situated nearby on Magnolia Blvd. If you feel that Kerry Park is too played out ("Pfftt. Kerry Park is so last year"), these areas have equivalently spectacular views of Seattle and Mt. Rainier. As a side note, I disapprove of calling these areas "viewpoints" or "viewing stations." These terms sound like the place you would monotonously drive to, take a requisite picture and sullenly drive away. The views are too beautiful for a term such as this. So I would like to propose changing the name to the "Magnolia Park Panorgasm." I think that's much more suitable. read more

You just feel calm and like you've arrived at a destination that makes you happy. I've had some wonderful, serene moments at the park. Nice little get away in my neighborhood. I brought my roommates dog here this past weekend and he enjoyed it as did I. Very beautiful view of the sound that's also peaceful. It's not the biggest park in the world but that to me is a good thing. Most of the people here were doing exactly what I was doing which was giving their dog a nice place to stretch their legs. I'll definitely be bringing the little pupper here more often. read more

Absolutely gorgeous views. Sometimes if it's late and quiet enough you can hear the water but very faintly. It's a good place to go and relax and make the most of your free time or in my case, my time off work. A lot of dogs come here around noon and the constant flow of dogs and their owners doesn't really stop until the sun goes down. Just make sure you're ready for that if you have a pet. read more

First off, I'm biased because my wife and I got married at this modest little park. We didn't have a lot of money, we didn't want a big wedding, we wanted something casual, intimate and simple, and most of all we wanted to stress as little as possible about the planning (my wife and I had struggled with me having cancer for the 3rd time the year before). And so this park became the perfect venue for our wedding. It was in July and luckily wasn't raining and we were able to reserve the park the Seattle Parks & Recs. We got married near the overlook with everyone around us in a semi circle. We both gave heart-felt improvised vows and when I put the ring on Jenn's finger literally at that moment the sun broke through and shined down on us. Friends of ours have told us it was simply the most beautiful wedding they'd ever been to. After the ceremony we all gathered around the picnic tables and enjoyed a pot-luck meal, and of course toasts and a cake. We actually moved to Magnolia shortly after getting married so we still get to visit the place we got married (how often do you get to do that!?) and it's special to us because it helps us remember that special day. We call it "our park" as if it only belongs to us. ;-) At the end of the day a park is just a park but what makes it special are the memories that take place in it. And there just seems to be good energy in this park, and I'm glad me and my wife got to share in that. read more

It's the park everyone drives past on their way through Magnolia. It's the park where everyone thinks it would be nice to stop but never do. And that's just part of it's charm. I did what everyone else has done in the past and just whizzed by but one strange day, I stopped. I walked around and realized I had to share this with the boy. They have picnic tables, barbecue pits, really nice restrooms, trees to sit under, benches to rest on, swings to play with, and one hell of a view. This is a quiet park, which makes it a great place to relax and/or enjoy a nice walk. I love this park because it's just a short drive from the city but feels far away enough from the hustle and bustle. Really open area with nice view of the ocean. When I was there it wasn't crowded so my friend and I set up our hammock and hung out for a while. It has a public restroom and picnic tables which is nice. read more

Great park along the Magnolia Blvd walk. Sweeping view of the Puget Sound and some great home gazing/daydreaming. Never too crowded. I would take away half a star for patrons neglecting to pick up after their dogs but that's not the park's fault. A must see if you're in the area. read more
