No, it's not the coolest place in town, but I kind of like it because it's a typical bar with regulars and randoms like me. Also, there's this new thing called Yelp Cash Back, and this was the closest place to me that does it, and since I don't know much about Yelp Cash Back, I wanted to see if it really worked. Anyways, I scoured the menu and found a BBQ burger that sounded right up my alley. The bartender was also my server, and she was miraculously running the whole area by herself. Mind you, when I got here, it was dead. There was me, in a booth far far away, and two older dudes who were clearly regulars watching football on the TV's over the bar. Clearly, the two guys and the bartender were familiar with each other, and I secretly loved it, and watched as they interacted amoungst each other. Gave me a cheers feeling that sometimes you don't always find anymore. My burger came out with fries, and it was a okay. Nothing exciting really, but good non the less. I polished it off with the fries and downed a sprite since I wasn't in the mood to have any booze. Another reason I like this place is because it seems to be douchebag free. Honest good people without an agenda. As time went on during my meal, more people started rolling in. Some of them were regulars, as they were warmly greeted by name from the bartender, and asked if she could get them their "usual" beer and meal. Again, loved it. I should also give my props to the bartender. She was hilarious without knowing it. When I walked in, she greeted me immediately, and asked how I was doing. After my eyes adjusted to the light, I realized she was bundled up in about 12 coats, a hoodie, and stated that she was freezing since the cold air was blasting her every time the door opened. I have no clue what this place is like when it's busy, but it's a nice casual atmosphere. Jake is a current registered child registered sex offender who is a current employee at the Hamlin Pub in the downtown Rochester area. Jake was charged with having sensually charged contact with a minor under the age of 18. Jake was involved some time back in a sting operation ran by none other than Chris Hansen, which led to his initial charges and current status as a child sex offender. As a former employee of hamlin pub who worked closely with Jake for the last couple of months without any knowledge of his past crimes, I am very well informed by the fact that, since he is employed as a head manager at this Hamlin Pub location, has minors from high-school around the surrounding area (adams, rochester, stoney creek) currently working and employed under his care. The gals behind the bar were hustling, keeping everyone fed and happy. The menu is sizeable and varied. I ordered the Cuban sandwich from the weekly special menu. It was good, very large and came with kettle chips. I was very hungry and ate every bite, washing it down with a tall Oberon draft. They offer carry-out and have a lot of seating all through the restaurant. I suspect this place gets pretty darn busy, particularly on game days and weekends.
