The food has always been really good - phenomenal burger yet above average fish and chips; the fish wasn't very crispy the last time, but the hand cut fries are great! The Burrata Caprese was also amazing! Beer selection is pretty average for this type of joint, but be honest... you're gonna get a Guinness. I wish they were closer, but it's worth the trek! Super vibey pub in downtown clawson! Plenty of TVs, tables and booth seating, and a full bar. Our server Kiki was great! She was very lively and attentive--filling waters before they were empty, making sure we had everything we needed, and joking around with us. The burger was seasoned very well and the bacon was thick cut. The crispy fries were great and it paired perfectly with their spicy ketchup. I really enjoyed the Guinness stew. It had plenty of tender beef chunks, veggies and a heaping spoonful of delicious mash on top. I was really disappointed with my order. The salad I received was incredibly sad-looking -- barely any toppings, wilted greens, and definitely not worth the price. On top of that, the two sides of dressing I paid for were completely missing. A salad without dressing is basically useless, and it ruined the entire meal. Walking in I felt like I was transported to an Irish sports pub! I was nervous about coming here with family as the menu looked like there was nothing 'fun' I could eat (was looking like potatoes or a wrap without any protein), but am pleased to report they now have a beyond burger available for vegans. Fruit cup I ordered as my side consisted of cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, and pineapple. Loud and busy on the weekend we went, but my aunt and uncle say it's quieter during the week and there are specials. Went to this place while waiting to get into another bar. Was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was inside. From the exterior, it looks like a standard Irish pub, but they definitely elevate things inside. Being an Irish pub we ordered Guinness and the foam actually had a design burned into it, which was a nice touch. Curry fries were we're nicely seasoned and fried. The place has a great ambience to it. Typical bar service was really good waitress was on top of it. I ordered a salad with blue cheese and cherries like the Michigan salad that everybody has almost $15.50. I get it and immediate something wasn't right something's missing. It's not taste right and then I realize there's no chicken in it. So I asked the waitress is there supposed to be chicken in the salad and she came back and said no, which I find it hard to believe for that much money. Everywhere else in the city I get the salad it's not more than $16 and it's included with chicken and this one is not so I asked for chicken. They brought it out turned out. I went for lunch with a friend for the first time. I had a salad which was good, but nothing special. My friend had a corned beef sandwich. She said it was absolutely wonderful. This has been on our list to try for awhile. My primary take away is that Gus' Snug is a great destination for a beer and some live music but I would not recommend it for its food. To start we had the mozzarella sticks. The marinara was served cold and the sticks tasted like frozen mozzarella sticks that you air fry. The fish was greasy and lacked the desired crunch you expect from fish and chips. It was served on top of the fries which made them greasy too. The Wagyu burger didn't taste like Wagyu. Overall the ambiance is good, we'd return for a beer but unlikely to consider this spot for food in the future. read more

Overall it was a good meal. The service was very friendly but that said he was very flighty. He asked if we were ready to place our order, we said yes and then he went to another table. He also disappeared after the meal and it took forever for us to cash out. This was multiplied but us unknowingly sitting to where the live music set up and it was extremely loud to the point we couldn't have a conversation at our table. The food reviews: Onion soup was good not great, the onions needed to have been cooked down more and the cheese on top could have been browned more. Chicken sandwich was very tasty. The Reuben was good although it should be served sauerkraut up, as it was plated sauerkraut on the bottom which made the bottom bread mushy. Fries were good, although the portion sizes were visibly different and with four people getting fries and one person noticeably getting less was strange. Drinks were good. As stated the music was extremely loud to the point my watch was giving me alerts of sound over 90 decibels. Best fish and chips around! This is the 3 piece but even the 2 piece is plenty. Great portion and amazing quality. So much fish and not too much breading. Pretty happy with my 2 visits here. Had food & drinks both times. Split a waygu burger with fries on 1 visit, the burger was great. Had cod on the other visit, also good. I was doing dry January and was pleased they had Athletic brand N/A beer, much better then many other watery tasting N/A's. Staff was attentive and helpful both times. This Irish bar/restaurant is absolutely the cleanest drinking/eating facility that I've ever been to. It has become my favorite place to go lately. And, the food is excellent. The bartenders are friendly and accommodating. Their prices are very reasonable. The 14 mi/Main St. location is a tough area for bars and restaurants with a steady turnover. I believe that Gus's Snug is a tribute to the food and drink industry with it's very high standards and will be at their location for many years to come. Great job Dimitri and staff!
