Fantastic dentist, great with my two young children under 10 years old. Great staff; lots of services. Can't say enough about them.

So someone recommended Dr Pree of Pediatric and family dental on 83 in Grayslake. It's the new…read moreoffice they built where Pat' Pizza used to be. We just got back from an appointment with them and I thought I'd report back. Not a great experience. Dr Pree was nice and the blond hygienist was kind but 2 things were very wrong. First was the policy they have of not letting parents back with their kids. I was told it was just during X-rays. But they did one of my son's cleanings without coming to get me. It was only when it was taking a loooooong time that I went back. The receptionist used her body to try to block me but I went right passed not taking no for an answer. You may think this sounds unreasonable but my sons(twins) were premature which means their baby teeth have needed some work. They are very nervous about going to the dentist because of that so they want me to be with them. And I promised them I would be. I didn't know when I made appointments that the policy was to not let parents do that, even I was told, if kids have medical anxiety from being going to many hospital, Doctor and dental visits, like mine. (One of my boys was tested for almost 3 years for a brain tumor.) Really bad policy. When I went back I was told I wasn't allowed to be back there. ("not enough room" -there was the standard amount.) I stayed. I was talking to another mom in the waiting room. Just chit chat about the book she was reading. She then began to share that her daughter had some bad experiences with All kids (Medicaid) dentists in the past and she wanted to be with her daughter too. Her daughter was there to get a filling. They told her she couldn't go back and by the time her daughter came out the mom was in tears with worry. I've heard stories about people who have AllKids, which we used to have but don't anymore, not being able to go back and kids screaming and having bruised gums after, not using sufficient anesthesia for wisdom teeth removal etc. (I'm guessing the insurance will only pay for certain kinds.) but I didn't know this was their policy and they didn't volunteer the information when I made appointments for our entire family. On my way out I verified that this was indeed their policy for any kind of work they do other than cleanings and cancelled the appointments I'd made for my husband and myself for later in the month. The second problem was that one of the nurses was very rude. She gave me attitude from the second I put my foot down. (The other nurse and the Doctor herself did not. They understood where I was coming from and that I promised my kids.) I found out after that she rolled her eyes at both of my boys when they were getting X-rays and when my son accidentally bit her finger slightly because she wanted him to bite down with her fingers holding the slides in his mouth. He's such a sweetheart and felt really bad. My other son said she murmured "oh my god" under her breath and rolled her eyes when one of the slides cut his gum and he pulled back. Life is too short to deal with these kinds of people. Not going back. Again to be fair the blonde hygienist and Dr Pree tried really hard to make the boys feel safe and calm. They were kind and patient. Also the receptionist who tried to block me was also kind and just doing her job. At the end when we were on our way out she told me she understood and I could see she disagreed with the policy herself.

Not only is the staff friendly and professional, they are CONSISTENTLY so! My daughter's braces have been off for over a year now (wow, going on two!) and her teeth are as pretty as ever! Now, it's my turn. I need to have braces. I needed to get in right away, and they were able to make that work. I looked no further than Dr. Klein. I didn't even consider anywhere else. If you want an orthodontist with a clean, state of the art facility, awesome staff, and who does an amazing job, call Dr. Klein right away!!! He's in Vernon Hills and Gurnee. So if you need a day he's not in your regular office, you can get in at the other office and it's not a far drive!

I worked for a dentist who would refer kids to Affiliated dental specialists. When I had my own…read morekids I decided to take them there also to see doctor Maddox and once he retired I decided to stick around because the office was fine, at first. First experience with Gurnee office, was not that great. Dentist looked very unprofessional and had dirty shoes. Now, my husband works in construction and his shoes were cleaner than this dentist. Not to sound picky but the charges aren't cheap and I expect to get what I'm paying for. Nice doctor, dirty shoes, fine I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Took my daughter to get a filling done and the nitrous wasn't working. Was not told in advance until she's sitting in the chair. We were already there and my daughter was comfortable continuing with her filling without the gas. Fast forward to now and the Gurnee office closed down, go figure. So we transferred to their Vernon office. Should have switch offices by this time but I didn't because all their records were already there and I wanted to give this other dentist a try. We continued going here until we had an appointment scheduled and they called to cancel it 30 minutes before the visit because their assistant was sick. I understood, things happen, right. I told them I would call back to reschedule because I was already driving there and couldn't look at my schedule. Unfortunately I missed work because they do treatment early in the day, ok I get it. I called back to schedule and left a voicemail. No one called me back for two days. I called back again and nothing. I should have gave up here but I didn't. Finally after the third call they finally answered and scheduled her back in. Well, here we go again, I missed work for this appointment and I get a call 30 minutes before her visit AGAIN and they tell me the same thing, the assistant is sick? At this point yes, it was enough. This is my first review because I don't like complaining and give people chances but this office is very inconsiderate of peoples schedules and does not care about their patients which are KIDS. Now it's neglect and no care for the well being of their patients. At this point, I blame the dentist working here because they are the "doctors" and should have competent people that can work and run an office so they can have work themselves. The girls working there should get FIRED for not responding to messages, calling off apparently last minute. I asked for my records and never got the form to send for release. I called back and they finally sent it. Only to get no records sent in return which would have nice to have had since I was able to get in somewhere elsewhere an hour later. These people do not care and it will be a matter of time before this place shuts down too. Worst experience and waste of time.

The front office staff and X-ray technicians have consistently been friendly and professional. Unfortunately, our experience during my daughter's procedure today was completely different. She was scheduled to have an abscessed tooth extracted and two cavities treated using nitrous oxide. As you can imagine, she was nervous. She does much better when procedures are explained to her, so she asked a simple question about the nitrous. The response she received was essentially, "It doesn't matter. You don't need to worry about it." That immediately made both of us feel dismissed. As a parent, I was never told what to expect. No one explained how long the nitrous would take to work, what the process would be, or what was happening throughout the appointment. My daughter became increasingly upset and cried while they attempted to numb her with injections. Again, there was no reassurance or explanation directed to either of us. What surprised me even more was that the dentist administered the numbing injections and then left the room to see another patient without saying a word. There was no, "I'll be back in a few minutes while the anesthetic takes effect," or any explanation at all. We were simply left sitting there wondering what was happening. To add to the confusion, another staff member came into the room asking if we were there for a cavity and said I needed to sign paperwork that I had already completed at the front desk. It honestly felt like no one even knew why we were there or what procedure was being performed. At that point, I realized this was not the right environment for my daughter. I told them we would be seeking treatment elsewhere. My daughter had already received nitrous oxide and numbing injections, yet instead of addressing our concerns, the interaction became even more uncomfortable. Communication was difficult, and I left feeling that our questions and concerns were viewed as an inconvenience rather than something that deserved a thoughtful response. What disappointed me most was the complete lack of compassion. This was a child undergoing a fairly invasive dental procedure. Bedside manner matters. Taking a few moments to explain what is happening, reassure a frightened child, and communicate with the parent can make all the difference. To end the appointment, we were simply sent on our way. No one explained how long the nitrous or numbing would last, when my daughter could safely eat or drink, or what to expect afterward. After everything that had happened, we left feeling confused, dismissed, and upset. I understand that not every child cooperates perfectly during dental procedures, especially when they're frightened. That's exactly why patience, communication, and empathy are so important. Sadly, those were the things most lacking during our visit. While we had ok experiences for routine cleanings, I cannot recommend this office for pediatric dental procedures that require extra care, communication, and compassion.

I showed up 15 minutes early because I hadn't received the new patient paperwork they were supposed to email. When I handed the receptionist the completed paperwork she told me they needed a copy of the last set of full x-rays as my insurance only covers it every five years-or I had to pay an extra $150.00 out of pocket. They had ample time to establish this prior to the appointment. The receptionist then tells me that they don't check benefits until the day of the appointment because if they check in advance, insurance may expire before the appointment. HUH? Insurance can retro-deactivate at will.. I told her that I would be glad to reach out for the x-rays on their behalf but wouldn't be paying out of pocket. I also advised that the old DDS has staffing issues so it might take a while. She said that was fine and they could still do my cleaning. About 10 minutes later she called me back to the desk to ask if I was able to get the x-rays yet. WHAT? I explained that I wasn't in a position to make a call from their waiting room and would email the old DDS a request when I got home and normal turnaround time for a records release at least 5 business days. Then, some guy comes out of the back room and starts arguing that I need to get them for "legal reasons". That's BS and I don't appreciate being lied to. Then a 3d lady hops in and tells me that they can't ask the old DDS due to HIPAA regulations. Nothing is going to make a provider lose credibility faster than using HIPAA as an excuse for not doing their job, all they need is a signed release. They finally agreed to do their own set of full x-rays at no cost to me. The DDS asked me why I switched from my old DDS & I explained that they had too many staffing issues and she asked what I do for a living and if we ever have staffing issues (rude!). They also tried to up-sell me thousands in unnecessary treatment and made me sign a million waivers as intimidation. They also padded the bil for a $32.00 consultation fee-which insurance denied. So...fast forward to January 2024. For obvious reasons, I have a new DDS & I ask them for copies of my X-rays & this is the response they text me: Good Afternoon Dear Stacy, I have tried to contact you since I missed your call, sorry about that, I wanted to inform you that we are going to return the $52 to your insurance for the bitewings but you will have to pay for the complete set of your x-rays which, respecting the value of your insurance, is $105 since they would not cover that procedure on the day of your visit please call back at (847)249-5700 thank you. Anyhow, I very eloquently explained that I wouldn't be paying them a penny. The new DDS said not to worry about the copies of the X-rays and I was going to just move on but then a few days later I received the x-ray by mail. No letter, no explanation no, $0 statement. These people are just too unprofessional for words!
