Two years ago, when I wanted to replace my roof, I interviewed six different companies. I settled…read moreon the company I had dealt with annually for over a decade thinking our relationship would assure me of a good job. In this world of so many scammers, it is very difficult to find an honest company, let alone one that does excellent work as well. Thanks to the recent historic storms, I developed what I thought were roof leaks. I have since learned that this was caused by ice dams, a very rare event in the south. When I contacted the company that installed my new roof they refused to come out. They said "Let the sun melt it and you'll be fine." So, I thought "They must know what they are talking about." I'm not a roofer and though that didn't fit with my common sense, what could I do? Plus, I had paid for an extra long, extra comprehensive warranty at the time the new roof was installed. I posted about my experience on social media and was contacted by Luke from Old Timers Roofing who advised I should take care of it now to prevent more damage, and that they did that kind of work. I'm always leery of someone who contacts me through social media saying "I can fix that" because you never know if they are the real thing or just someone trying to earn a quick buck who really doesn't have the experience and knowledge. I researched the BBB and several other sources that rated them highly. So I decided to give them a chance. Luke informed me that most warranties would not cover ice damage because it was so rare in the south. Strange that my old company didn't mention that but when I called them back they said Luke was right. Luke referred me to the owner, Josh, who immediately sent out TJ to break up the ice dams. All three assured me my roof would be fine but, if I hadn't cleared the ice dams, I could have had serious damage. I couldn't believe someone would even come out in this weather. I feel much better knowing that as a result of their efforts, I won't have more damage. TJ also recommended I have a water mitigation company check for damage though he thought mine was probably slight. I appreciated that advice as this was all new to me. As someone who is not wealthy, I was very concerned about the cost for Old Timers to break up the ice dams but knew it had to be taken care of to avoid even more expensive repairs down the road. I was stunned when Josh refused payment. My only regret is that I didn't hire them to put on the new roof. I always have my roof inspected three times a year to identify problems before they become serious. Despite having a warranty I will now be using Old Timers Roofing as I have lost confidence in the company who put on my new roof. I had been their customer for over a decade. I highly recommend you contact Old Timers Roofing for any roofing needs. They have shown themselves to truly have "Old Timers" values of honesty, hard work and knowledge. Oscar showed up right on time and after talking to me for a few minutes climbed up on the roof and did a complete inspection. After completing the inspection Oscar said he would work up an estimate and email it to me. He got the price to me the next day. I choose them to do the job after comparing them with my other estimates. They were able to do the job two days later and were done in one day. Owner and the crew were very friendly and professional and did a good job. They also cleaned up the site very well and hauled it all away. His estimate was better than that of other area competitors, and came recommended by friends as well as here on Yelp. The roof over our screened in porch is nearly a flat roof. Water had been collecting up there, and since it was able to do that, was seeping it's way in between the shingles and damaging the wood underneath as well as leaking into the porch itself. We need to replace the shingles with a solution made for flat roofs so that water could not penetrate, however, our HoA mandated that the roof match the color of the shingles used on the rest of the house. That made a rubber roof impossible because that only comes in black or white. Oscar recommended instead a rolled roof, which we were able to find in slate grey. That matches the currently lain shingles on the rest of the house really well, since there was no need to do anything to those. As soon as we had a day with good enough weather, his team came over to install it and replace any lumber that was damaged by the old. They followed up on several subsequent days to finish odd tasks, like replacing the damaged downspout, installing the gutter guards, and finally doing the final touches on the roof to ensure their worksmanship. I am not a roofer, but everything looks sealed and tight, and hopefully the days of porch leaks are over for us. Thank you Oscar!

When I called for quotes, Skywalker was my first call but to get someone out took 3 weeks. Every other company took less than a week. Lucky for both of us, I was waiting on the insurance company because otherwise I would have already made a decision and not received a quote from them. From there, I met Brandon. Brandon was great. Very informative and gave me an explanation in a format that no other company had which was impressive. I won't say what it was cause it wouldn't be fair to give one of their secrets away to their competitors. Anyway, he showed me in detail the materials they use unlike some of the others. After a decision had been made, it took about a week for the company to get the job started and two days to complete. I stopped by, talked to the Forman on site and even had him change the light bulbs in the steeple spotlights which he did without hesitation. Thank you!!! Let me say that Skywalker wasn't the cheapest. Nor were they the most expensive but for the cost, the service, the grade of material, the experience, the fact that there's always a Forman on site, the warranty and everything else combined I have no doubts that Skywalker was the best choice. The follow up even two weeks after the job was completed is nice. The roof looks great and I have had several compliments.
