This is a really nice bookstore with options for everyone! There is plenty of books, clothing, cups, and Norte Dame items to select from. The bookstore is two floors, and the women's clothing can be found upstairs. We ended up purchasing a hydro flask bottle and tshirt from the location. Very clean facility and the staff is very helpful!

Fantastic bookstore with a ton of ND gear. They even sell student books in here. The second floor is now open and they display some interesting, inexpensive, memorabilia options. ;) LOL. Nope, I opted not to buy any.

Ever since I was a young boy, one of the most exciting aspects of the Notre Dame experience. It's so much fun searching through all the different Notre Dame branded items at the Hammes bookstore. Gives folx like me who need retail therapy leading up to game time the perfect outlet to shop. The building is gorgeous collegiate gothic style that fits into the overall vibe of Notre Dame's campus. If you've been to Notre Dame before, you may recall the original bookstore that was so tiny that you had to wait 45 minutes to get inside. Well this massive mecca of shopping offers so much more than that one. And it's gorgeous inside and out. You feel like you're shopping in a historic site. The first floor is mostly dedicated to mens clothing with the official on-field Under-Armour clothing (most expensive) up front. The rear of the first floor offers tons of hats to select from which is where my money usually gets burnt. The second floor features womens clothing and childrens clothing. Also on the second floor you can actually find books! Crazy that the bookstore would sell books. Time your visit right. We always go to the Notre Dame bookstore on Friday afternoon. That usually allows us to avoid most of the crowds. But on bigger game weekends, you're going to meet a wait no matter when you get there. It's always worth it in my book.

One of my most favorite book stores. I always find sweatshirts upstairs that are beyond cute. There's something for all Notre dame fans here for sure. Whether it's wine, clothes, or a cool notebook. A def must stop location for anyone visiting the university.

I browsed around this 2-story bookstore for over an hour. In addition to books, computers and office supplies, there were a plethora of other items for sale. Each type of item had an entire section devoted to it. Generally, a section included multiple shelves on numerous display units. Of course, there were the requisite glassware, mugs, keychains, etc sections. In addition to those, there were sections of tailgating items, housewares, furniture and expensive, exquisite jewelry. I was simply amazed at the enormity and the selection of merchandise. Prices were a little on the expensive side. Unfortunately, this is the case for most college bookstores. There is big business in Universities' bookstores ownership and management. In many cases, they have a monopoly and a captive audience of students who need the product. So price-gouging ensues. But I digressed....Sorry. It seems that this University bookstore has almost anything that a student could need or want while attending Notre Dame. The beautiful building, copious amounts of quality merchandise, inviting reading areas and a coffee shop/cafe made me nostalgic for my college days. This was truly a wonderful place to visit.

Easily the best college bookstore I have been in. The selection of clothing, souvenirs and memorabilia is amazing! They have stuff for the casual fan or the true die hard. Be prepared to walk out with a bag full of stuff and a lot lighter in your pocket!

Hammes bookstore is the place for textbooks, Notre Dame apparel, accessories and gifts for the Fighting Irish fans in your house

I collect college hoodies and with my dad being a ND alum, I couldn't wait to get to Hammes.

Now for those avid readers looking for an orderly used book store ... you might have to look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a book store with thousands of used books ... with only a basic framework to the organization of inventory ... this is your place. Set in an old cottage-style home that has been granted Landmark Status in this residential neighborhood, there are books everywhere ... in the basement, on the first floor, and supposedly in each and every room. Most of the books are on shelves, but many are in assorted stacks. The owner/manager of the place is a wonder all to himself. Friendly and outgoing, he actually does know where the major genres are in his layout, and he can help you get close to what you seek. The rest is up to you. The owner is always buying additional used books to flesh out the collection, so that could be a thing for those that are interested. On the buy side, if the owner doesn't have it ... he can probably find you what you want. The store is also complemented with a wonderful old watchdog that is almost on his last legs ... but he will get up and greet you if you have a few minutes. He adds to the overall ambience of this historic building. Now for those that have forgotten: Erasmus was a Dutch humanist, Catholic theologian, and pioneering philologist (philology being the study of literary texts and oral and written records) and we assume the source of the store's name. All in all this was a great stop on our visit ... and we'll be sure to do it again.

My bf and I got lost in here (although it is quite organized), just looking for a diamond on the rough book to take home back in April 2025. I only had $8 in cash in me and the kind bookseller let me buy a $10 Jewish hardcover cookbook for only $8! While I am trying to buy LESS books as I downsize, I plan to stop by Erasmus periodically to look and perhaps, give a book a home! Parking is street parking.

I was surprised to see so many things on sale for 50% off when we stopped in! I bought a book for myself and a board book for my baby nephew for $17 total, after the 50% discount. I regret not stocking up on graphic novels while they were half off! I doubt this discount will exist the next time I stop in... Brain Lair Books also hosts about 7 different book clubs - I'll be joining the romance one when I move here in a year-ish. The bookseller on staff the day we stopped in was also so kind and very funny! Make sure to stop by this well-curated, local bookstore next time you find yourself in the South Bend area!

Kathy, the owner took time to greet me and my sister and chat with us. We're both book lovers and we're impressed with the selection. I brought my friend back hours later who is also a book lover along with my two nieces. Again, Kathy was very personable, shared why she opened the bookstore. There is something for everyone here. There's even a little nook with a pillow seat for me and my niece to read a book together. You have to check this place out. If you don't live books you know someone who does so why not support a small business. We all left with a book!
