This is a really nice bookstore with options for everyone! There is plenty of books, clothing, cups, and Norte Dame items to select from. The bookstore is two floors, and the women's clothing can be found upstairs. We ended up purchasing a hydro flask bottle and tshirt from the location. Ever since I was a young boy, one of the most exciting aspects of the Notre Dame experience. It's so much fun searching through all the different Notre Dame branded items at the Hammes bookstore. Gives folx like me who need retail therapy leading up to game time the perfect outlet to shop. The building is gorgeous collegiate gothic style that fits into the overall vibe of Notre Dame's campus. If you've been to Notre Dame before, you may recall the original bookstore that was so tiny that you had to wait 45 minutes to get inside. Well this massive mecca of shopping offers so much more than that one. And it's gorgeous inside and out. You feel like you're shopping in a historic site. The first floor is mostly dedicated to mens clothing with the official on-field Under-Armour clothing (most expensive) up front. The rear of the first floor offers tons of hats to select from which is where my money usually gets burnt. The second floor features womens clothing and childrens clothing. Also on the second floor you can actually find books! Crazy that the bookstore would sell books. Time your visit right. We always go to the Notre Dame bookstore on Friday afternoon. That usually allows us to avoid most of the crowds. But on bigger game weekends, you're going to meet a wait no matter when you get there. It's always worth it in my book. read more

I browsed around this 2-story bookstore for over an hour. In addition to books, computers and office supplies, there were a plethora of other items for sale. Each type of item had an entire section devoted to it. Generally, a section included multiple shelves on numerous display units. Of course, there were the requisite glassware, mugs, keychains, etc sections. In addition to those, there were sections of tailgating items, housewares, furniture and expensive, exquisite jewelry. I was simply amazed at the enormity and the selection of merchandise. Prices were a little on the expensive side. Unfortunately, this is the case for most college bookstores. There is big business in Universities' bookstores ownership and management. In many cases, they have a monopoly and a captive audience of students who need the product. So price-gouging ensues. But I digressed....Sorry. It seems that this University bookstore has almost anything that a student could need or want while attending Notre Dame. The beautiful building, copious amounts of quality merchandise, inviting reading areas and a coffee shop/cafe made me nostalgic for my college days. I've always been a fan of the Notre Dame campus and I'm a big fan of their bookstore as well. They have several bookstores but this is the main on right there on campus. There is a variety of items in the store that you cannot find anywhere else and the quality of them clothing and items is much better than the more generic items found at other retailers. The bookstore is beautiful and have 2 levels to it. Downstairs is the men's clothing area and where you can also find mugs, accessories, home goods, car gear, tailgating items, etc. It is also where the registers and cafe can be found. Upstairs is the women's and children's clothing area, dressing room, shoes, and jewelry can be found. The assortment is more than you will find anywhere else and the prices aren't too bad for a college campus. Plus, they occasionally have sale items. read more

The Hammes Notre Dame bookstore has two locations on the Notre Dame campus. This one is located in a standalone two-story building on Eck Center off of Notre Dame Avenue, and on the main campus. The second location is in a corner building on Holy Cross Drive and North Eddy Street, just off-campus. As you enter the University along Notre Dame Avenue, you'll see the gold-domed Administration building in front of you, and the guard station to your left. Pull in by the guard station, and they will direct you into the parking lot for the visitor's center and the bookstore. The main location is massive with all sorts of themed apparel, sporting wear, accessories, gifts, home goods, office supplies, books and more, spread over two floors. Need a framed print of the campus, or your own personal football helmet? What about a class ring, or a tailgating grill, or a themed religious object? Yup, it's all here. Students can pick up all of their supplies, including significantly-reduced prices on laptop computers with the Notre Dame logo. I had some time to kill before an afternoon meeting, and amused myself by walking down the aisles and looking at all of the Fighting Irish sports wear. Since it was a chilly day, I picked up a Notre Dame fleecie to wear during my visit to South Bend. Both bookstores are filled with merchandise, and fun places to walk around while looking at the goods. I can only imagine what these stores must be like during the semester. read more

I attended the ND vs TSU game today. The day before the game, I purchased a clear fanny pack at the bookstore. Upon entering the stadium, I was told that the fanny pack was not acceptable. Why are you selling the clear fanny packs if they canʻt be used at the stadium? I had to take the bag back to the car. The worse part is that I saw several people with fanny packs and some were not even clear? Put a notice on the display that they cannot be used in the stadium or else EDUCATE the stadium staff!!!! read more

So, if you are visiting Notre Dame...you have to visit the bookstore. Situated on two floors of a dedicated building, they have just about everything related to the Fighting Irish that you could imagine...including books for young men and women who go to school there, and Apple and Dell computers for students. With ample parking just outside the door, this is a must stop when visiting the campus. The bookstore includes a small shop for coffee and limited pastries while you are visiting, and has a second floor with more clothes and student services. If you want a Notre Dame ring or degree frame...they have it. Want Fighting Irish hats or sweats or T-shirts...they have them. One of the nicest and well stocked college bookstores I've been in. I collect college hoodies and with my dad being a ND alum, I couldn't wait to get to Hammes. It did not disappoint. There are two floors of anything ND you could possibly imagine. Prices are not cheap but that's typical of any college bookstore. I was also impressed with the efficiency of the checkout process. With over 100 people in line, they flew through the checkout! It's like a well oiled machine in that bookstore! If you visit campus, Hammes is a must! read more

The bookstore was very disappointing. As indicated in other online reviews, many, many pieces of apparel were not available in sizes large, extra large or medium. Those items were only available in small or ridiculously large sizes. As a result, there were several items that I wanted, but did not purchase because they would not fit. I heard two other customers complain about the lack of stock that would fit. And when I asked the clerk to check to see if they had a particular item in my size, he said he would look in the stockroom, but never returned to find me. I eventually found out that they did not have my size in the back room. I will also observe that the prices of some of the apparel items were ridiculous. I expect some mark up at the campus bookstore, but the prices they were asking were over the top. I have been in many campus bookstores over the years, and expected Notre Dame would have a lot to offer. That was not the case. Sorry I wasted my time going there. read more
