They put the space into the bedrooms and other rooms. The community is very new and within walking distance of a grocery store (Harris Teeter), as well as several restaurants. There are also 4 other grocery stores within 5-10 min away. The beach is only 5-10 min away, as well.

The staff are super nice and very accommodating for changes that occurred during our build process. They love animals and there are two fenced dog areas for dogs to be let off leash. The complex is clean and I felt very safe walking my dog at night. The location is great for military families as Camp LeJeune is only 3 miles away, Wilmington is about an hour and Jacksonville is about 45 minutes. We had trouble with our air conditioning working and maintenance was there to fix it within 15 minutes. The apartment was clean when we moved in. They have a nice big pool and a small playground for young children. I would definitely recommend staying here.

First, they are incredibly empathetic towards military families. My husband and I were able to sign a short-term lease (6 months) with no hassle whatsoever. They were also extremely flexible with our move-in date, which changed probably a dozen times before we actually were able to move in because of my husband's hectic schedule. Second, they are advocates for the tenants and will do what they can to support us. We are the first tenants to have a furnished apartment. Julie and Amanda worked with us AND the furniture rental company to ensure a smooth move, fair pricing, and a fair contract. I only had to contact the furniture rental company once myself to ask a few questions. Third, they are just plain NICE. I have read so many horror stories about apartments and landlords near Jacksonville, and I can say with confidence that Stillwater is a dream compared to those other places. Amanda was extremely thorough when reviewing the lease with my husband and I and made sure that we understood every contract and agreement that we signed upon move in. Now that we are here, the positive attitude, hospitality, and sincerity continues. Everyone is very friendly. And finally, the leasing office plans community "events" about once per month. One month, tenants were invited to a complimentary breakfast in the clubhouse one Saturday morning. This month, there will be a cook out with live music and a few local vendors selling fun things like funnel cakes and popcorn. The apartments themselves are very nice. Stillwater was built very recently, and we are the first tenants to live in our one bedroom apartment. Our one bedroom includes a living room, kitchen, laundry room (in unit laundry YAY!), bathroom, bedroom, and balcony with storage space. There is a 24-hour fitness center with a complete dumbell set, bench, treadmills, stationary bike, elliptical, and various weight machines. There is also a small play area for children. The clubhouse has a business center with complimentary WIFI, free Starbucks coffee, and sometimes even some treats. There is a resort style pool with 2 grill areas and plenty of deck chairs. There is also a small "playground" for children in the "courtyard' of the complex. Parking is ample and garage space is available. The location is fantastic. The complex is located minutes away from Camp LeJeune's back gate, and Sneads Ferry is just far enough away to escape the craziness of Western Boulevard. There is a Hess gas station, Dollar General, and Post Office right down the road. Sneads Ferry Library, Food Lion, CVS, and a few restaurants are within the general vicinity. The Top Sail Beach is about 10 minutes away (driving). In short, Stillwater at Southbridge is one of the best you'll get if you are looking for a place to live near Camp LeJeune, Jacksonville, or in the Sneads Ferry area. The staff is incredible when it comes to service, friendliness, and hospitality. It is a great value for all of the amenities and peace of mind that comes with living here. Neighbors are respectful and quiet, for the most part. I am definitely enjoying my stay here, and wish that other apartment complexes would take advice from these guys. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Which I was in the wrong, the staff worked with my situation and contacted the property management company and had all the fees removed. They didn't have to help me out with this situation and they went out of their way to ensure we were taken care of even though we were leaving the apartments. I was really impressed and would recommend these apartments to anyone looking to move to the area but not ready to purchase a home yet.

I simply steped off the sidewalk. As I noticed his dog acting aggressively already towards mine. My dog never looked his way. He started yelling at me that my dog is AGGRESSIVE. And continued yelling... I just kept walking. My friend heard this entire CRAZY thing go on. . I've never seen this person on this property before. yet this is the second time this happened. Except it was a different guy who lives in the condos. Who strolls through here like he owns it. My dog Is NOT aggressive in any way! I guess there is something in the water !!

My lease was up in July but I had already planned on moving June 1 so I told the office if anyone wanted to take over my apartment early, that would be great. No one told me that someone was going to be taking over my lease as of May 31. I only found out when I went to the office to hand them a check. I was dealing with Abbie at the front desk during all of this and I called her the next day to ask if it would be okay if I handed in my key and fully moved out Saturday June 3 and she said yes no problem at all. I got to my apartment on June 2 to pick up the rest of my items and a few of my personal items were outside my door, the front door was unlocked and 95 percent of my personal items inside that I had left were gone. When I told the front desk girls, they truly acted as though it was no big deal and were disgustingly dismissive and told me to call the manager on Monday. Monday Tabitha told me maintenance threw my stuff out because they thought I had moved out because Abbie never communicated that I had until the 3rd ( which I was paying for ). To make a very long story short Tabitha started to find some of my things that were supposedly thrown out even though me and her checked the dumpsters. Maintenance stole my stuff. Went through my stuff and took what they wanted. Since then I've gotten about 60 percent of my stuff back. The rest of it is gone. Hawthorne thinks it's good enough that they didn't make me pay rent up until the day the new residents moved in and gave me back my cleaning fee I pre payed for. Corporate is a joke. Hawthorne's staff can't be trusted on any level. I lived here 3 years and the day I moved in my air conditioner was broken and it was in July and they didn't notice. My air conditioner broke consistently every month for the first year I was there. Don't be blinded by their claims of luxury living when the staff are thieves.

They replaced the cabinet doors in the kitchen but never replaced the cabinet doors in the bathroom. They painted the bathtub and it always peeled. They also painted the kitchen countertops which peeled too. The quality of the carpet was very cheap. When things broke, the maintenance was friendly, professional, and responded quickly. That part was fine, it's just they used the cheapest quality everything and wouldn't replace anything, they'd just paint it. That has now changed, they are in the process of renovating, so they look great now ! The price of the units increased $100 to cover the expense of the renovations. The people that live there are very friendly and quite. The was one unit that had friends over very late, usually on Sunday evenings. They would socialize on their porch to about 3 AM. They were very noisy. They weren't even in our building, they were a couple hundred yards away. Numerous sleepless nights due to them. The staff was polite and friendly. They never bends the rules, which overall is a very good thing at an apartment complex. There was one instance I accidently paid my rent twice online, within a timespan of 5 minutes. The very next day I explained my error and requested a refund. They absolutely refused. While I didn't have to pay rent for 2 months, I did have to borrow money in the short term to cover other expenses. The biggest issue was with theft. During my stay there, which was less than a year, we had our bicycles stolen on 3 separate occasions. I kept them locked, but with 2 children, a few times we forgot and so I suspect the thief checked very often. I don't think it was a resident of Barclay Place. The staff at Barclay Place mentioned the possibility of some homeless people living in the woods nearby. The staff also mentioned other people in Barclay Place also had bicycles stolen, one example of the porch screen cut with a utility knife so the thief could enter. Most of these issues I don't think are the norm. It is a nice community, albeit expensive. I would recommend Barclay Place for retirees, young professionals, and people needing an apartment short-term while wait for their house to be built.
