I love how they take the guess work out of maintaining a clean hot tub! The chemicals and testing typically required is too confusing. Trying to distinguish changes in color on those dipsticks then deciphering how much of what chemical to add is bizarro world to me. Stay away from this pool store. We had an in ground pool installed and there was a problem with the coping breaking off. They tried patching with no luck several different times. Always promising to make it right. This last time they showed up with a tube of caulk really. Now they tell us there is nothing they can do. Do yourself a big favor and purchase your pool elsewhere. The past owner was working with the new owner and even in this role had promised to make there wrong doing right. They even sent someone out this past Saturday and when they figured out a tube of caulk wasn't going to fix the issue and was going to cost some money is when they said they were done. I want to make perfectly clear from day one this pool had this issue The owner should have made eight new business or old. read more

Do not waste your money with this business. Our pool was "completed" by Hampstead Pool and Spa less than three years ago and has been nothing but a problem. The pool itself is unlevel and our decking is literally collapsing under our feet when we walk on it. I have addressed the issue with the owners but they have no interest in correcting their shoddy workmanship. Before proceeding with this project we did read the negative reviews and thought "how bad can it be"; believe me it can be BAD. We only decided to work with HP&S because we literally live across the street from the owners of the business. They and their business practices are utterly disappointing. This project will cost more than $20,000.00 to correct. read more

Hampstead pool did a great job installing our pool on N Topsail. We also use them to open and close our pool for the season and they have been very prompt and thorough. Beautiful pool and we couldn't be happier. As with everything else in a resort town, they were very busy with a lot of installs to complete so process was a bit slower than I hoped but the results were well worth the wait! They have been very responsive to any questions we have had as we are pool newbies. read more

Boy did they see ME coming....I've had hot tubs before but NEVER had such horrible experience. Contradictions galore between the manufacturer and the company that I got it from. The "drop it off and run" guy that set it up couldn't explain anything because he "wasn't sure" and handed me the book and told me to read it and it would explain everything....call the store and you get the answering machine [screening calls perhaps?] Thank GOD for Mandie or this place would be on the market for sale.....do yourself a favor and go to POOLS, PATIOS & SPAS for Onslow County....THEY know what they're talking about. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. These crooks have the nerve to keep sending me a bill after I already paid them for not even doing what they were supposed to do. Hampstead Pool & Spa . They are liars. Read, Share and do not use their services. I will post this everywhere and also send this to the BBB. I opened and cleaned my pool for weeks, including vacuuming, but my vacuum would not get some of the sand out of the bottom of the pool. I also had a ring stain around my pool and some on the bottom. I called J & M Marx Pools, LLC aka Hampstead Pool & Spa and asked to have them come and vacuum the bottom, clean the stain and adjust the chemicals. The lady told me what they could do to remove the stain. One option was to put chemicals in it and remove the stain with a sock and brush. The other was to put in chemicals and wait days for them to come back to clean it. I told her I did not want them to do the option that took days. I told her I would only pay for one hour of service. I told her that several times. I told her I have been burned by companies before who charge by the hour and take their time, waste a bunch of time, so they can charge a bunch of money for nothing. She told me it would be $125 per hour and would not take longer than an hour. I told her again, I would only pay for one hour and that I've cleaned the pool myself several times and it takes less than an hour to clean the pool, vacuum sand, add chemicals and brush around the sides. They sent a guy to my house who did not have the attachment he needed to vacuum the pool. He told me the water in the pool was so clear. I told him I had spent weeks cleaning it and the only thing I needed was the sand at the bottom vacuumed and the stain cleaned from the sides of the pool. I also told him I would only pay for one hour of service and that I had already told the lady at their company I would only pay for one hour of service and she had told me it would only take an hour. He spent a few minutes spraying the filter and left. He came back while I was gone and was wrapping up to leave when I came back home. I was only gone a little over an hour because I use mileage tracker for business and checked the time I had left and time I returned home. I have dealt with slick companies, so I keep track and I am sure to make it clear of what is expected and what I am willing to pay for. I made it clear from the start, so there would not be any misunderstanding and no overcharge. He had vacuumed out the sand only. He did not add chemicals, nor did he attempt to clean the stain. It takes 20 minutes for me to vacuum that pool and I am no professional. He did not even do 1 hour of work, did not do what I was promised he would do as far as putting any chemicals in the pool to clean the stain, nor did he brush around the sides of the pool. The only reason I hired J & M Marx Pools aka Hampstead Pools and Spa, was to clean the stain and vacuum the leftover sand in the bottom of the pool my vacuum would not pick up. They did not do what we agreed on and did less than one hour of work. Chemicals to remove the stain were supposed to be included in that hour fee, but they did not put the chemicals in the pool either even though I asked the guy to put the stain remover chemicals in the pool. They continue to send me a bill for 2 hours worth of work. I paid for one hour although they did not do what we agreed on. They were lucky to get that one hour pay because they did not give me chemicals as they promised. Who in the world has to pay $125 for a little sand to be vacuumed from their pool. I usually use Chlorox Shock Xtra Blue to clean the stain from around the fiberglass pool each year, but the stores had been out all season. A few weeks after the fiasco with J & M Marx Pools, Lowe's got Chlorox Shock Xtra Blue in and I bought some, put it in my pool and the stain came out without any scrubbing at all the next day. All they had to do was put in the right chemicals, leave them and the stain comes out on its own. I basically paid them an hour's service and they did not do what they promised they would do and did not do an hour's worth of work. It is a shame how unscrupulous Hampstead Pools and Spa aka J & M Marx Pools is and does not care about doing what they were hired to do and then charge more than the agreed upon price. read more

I had my in ground pool installed November 2018 and am a newbie when it comes to pools. The owner and staff have been very patient and informative with all my many phone calls and questions. Any issues I had (and they were minor) were addressed immediately and to satisfaction. It is my position that the past reviews do not reflect this business accurately, as they are under new ownership. I love how conveniently located they are and pop in frequently to have my water tested. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely accommodating. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because its been less than a year with my pool. If all goes well for the next 15 years, I will change it to a 5 :-) read more

Hampstead Pool and Spa is absolutely phenomenal! From the beginning of the process they were honest and upfront about everything. Dan explained everything from time frame to expenses/costs and different options, so that we did not have any surprises. Joel was great with communication about when we could expect things to be done and seeing us through the process. Joe and Jessie were absolutely amazing. They worked so hard and built us such a fantastic pool and were the friendliest folks! If I had any questions they helped me out and were very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of how to run and maintain the pool. It started out great but over the last 4 months has gone downhill. Do NOT hire this company to maintain your spa/pool unless you're going to watch them - multiple times they billed for services and chemicals not provided. When contacted about it the account manager agreed that there was a problem but the owner refused to provide a refund even with camera/video and neighbor witness of evidence of no service. Was so bad that chemical imbalance was causing corrosion where complete empty/refill had to be done. There's a reason it's no BBB accredited. So many other options in the area, look elsewhere. read more

I am glad you asked why I was willing to pay more to use your store. It is because I support local business within the community, not because you provided anything exceptional by any means. I did not purchase the pool nor chlorinator from you this it true, because when I purchased my house they were already there. It is sad though that you have to downplay how much I have spent in your store (which is inaccurate by the way) to somehow justify your position. Poor service! Asked for Hampstead pool to come out to our home, give us an estimate for liner replacement and stone hardscape around the pool. A very nice young man came out , and he told us the owner would be in touch with us in a week with the cost. Two weeks later we still have not heard anything from Hampstead pool. The following Monday i called Hampstead pool, I was told that the owner choose NOT to give us a quote, without any explanation. So much for supporting this small business. Also their Web site says open until 2 pm on Saturday, WRONG, not open at all on Saturday. read more

Don't even know where to begin with the negative review of this company. First I want to say that I waited to write this review as we had to get the pool cover factory rep here to look at our poorly installed cover. We started out on this project with them cutting through our main power line as they never got 811 out here before they dug....guess they thought it would be ok....IT WASNT!! That caused a three week delay getting the main line fixed and 811 out here to mark the lines. Super poor communication, rude office people, and poor work. Pool waterline tile is glass and they didn't bother to make sure no dirt or debris was behind the clear tile. Now there is dirt and crap behind the tile stuck to the side of the pool. That I now get to look at every time I get into the pool. I could go on but I'll stop on those points. Save yourself a lot of heartache and go elsewhere. This was not a cheap project and it was poorly done!! read more

Do not go with this company. The last owner was wonderful because she actually knew how to work with customers. My first pool was installed when she owned the business. We moved, and we wanted to install the exact same pool. Well, it definitely was not the same quality. Our pool is not level at one end. They gave a horrible excuse as to why that happened. I just let it go. My next huge concern was the concrete. They went with a different person, and I do not think they are legit. Our concrete was has cracks in it. We called them out right away to fix it. They agreed to fix the problem, but it was pool season, so that asked if we would be nice enough to wait. We were kind enough to do that, but now that pool season is over, they said that it has been to long. There was not effort to fix the problem and they took advantage of my kindness. The people now running this company is hiring people who do not have the proper credentials to work there. Find a different company. They do not correct their own mistakes. read more

I have not and will not recommend these people to anyone. First, when we were getting a quote for our pool, they gave us incorrect information regarding the ladder that came with the pool. We had to end up buying a conversion kit for it. They'd call and give us a date and time that they would be out to work on the installation, then they just wouldn't show up. This happened more times than I could count. They were supposed to come back out after installation and get the wrinkles out of the liner. After about a week or two of waiting for them to come, I popped into the store a few times to ask WHEN they were coming. We were basically told that they'll do it when they get to it. The last phone call we received was in May, saying that they'd be back "first thing in the morning" to fix the wrinkles. It is now September and to date, we have not heard nor seen them. Just as soon as we paid them in full, (which they required), they kicked us to the curb. read more
