In July 2022, I emailed them multiple times to request that they delete my account in their resident portal (https://jasro.twa.rentmanager.com/). Unfortunately, my requests have been ignored, and my information is still in their system against my will, and I have no way to delete it. My initial email interactions with Coralville Apartments (regarding apartment logistics) occurred in December 2021 and January 2022. In one of my last emails to them (https://bit.ly/3zmO6H6), I inquired about some accusations against their property manager (Jacob C. Schwebke). The person I was emailing with responded to refute those accusations (https://bit.ly/3Q2TCWc), but they did not provide any evidence to support their refutations. I then replied to say, "Thank you for letting me know. Could you please share the relevant court records with me?", but I never received a reply. In an attempt to verify the truth, I looked up the Iowa court records at www.iowacourts.state.ia.us/. (Under "Trial Court", click on "Case Search". Search for "Jacob C. Schwebke". The record for Case ID "06521 FECR125807" indicates that the 1st degree theft charge against Jacob C. Schwebke was indeed dismissed by the court.) Unfortunately, I could not find any more information about this online. I emailed the three authors of the three articles linked in my first email to ask them for more information about this (only one of them replied, but they didn't share any more info). It would be helpful if the journalists who wrote articles about the charges against Mr. Schwebke also wrote follow-up articles to explain the court's decision in response to the charges.

She blamed us for every maintenance issue that came up, even for damage that was done before we moved in, which we had photo proof of. I got the vibe that a lot of maintenance/renovation work either they did themselves or hired someone who didn't know what they were doing, as many things in the house were not installed/set-up/plumbed correctly. A few minor issues that were 100% landlord responsibility we ended up just dealing with ourselves and not involving her because we knew she'd refuse to fix them and gaslight and blame us, and the stress wasn't worth it. The place was not clean when we moved in, with tons of pet hair and cat litter that was so gross to clean up. I have never had a worse experience with a landlord. Their "office" is literally just an old mail dropbox inside the entrance to a dentist. You have to physically drop off a rent check there every month - I've never lived anywhere that you can't even mail your rent!

All in all, I have rented from a bunch of properties in Iowa City/Coralville and THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST LIVING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. Upon moving in there were so many issues that made my unit uninhabitable. The dishwasher and garbage disposal did not work. The stairs were rotted wood with large holes that created a major hazard. The washer was broken and did not agitate (aka, clothes just floated around in dirty water), but the landlord tried to say I was being "picky". There were so many broken cabinets and drawers that I lost count. We were told that there was a working fireplace when we signed the lease, but the landlord did not inform us until the day we moved in that the fireplaces were not in use because of a previous tenant that had a fire. Turns out my unit was the one with the fire, which was evident from all of the soot on the unit that was easily visible on the deck (the landlord neglected to tell me about this fire and I only found out as I was doing the walkthrough; the soot was never cleaned). ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS CLEAN. There was mold all over the dishwasher. Dog hair from the previous tenant was embedded into the walls and trim. There was an actual infestation of spiders in the basement that both me and my neighbor struggled with. This review does not even come close to conveying the constant stress I have felt the last year being a tenant of Apadana Properties, but I hope it steers you away from living in this hell hole.

They take forever to respond to any requests and make everything more difficult than it has to be. They also purposefully omit from the lease charges that you will have to pay later. They wanted to charge me 300 dollars for their help in finding a sublease, which I basically found myself. They must have spent a max of 20 minutes on this request I made. 300 dollars for that is outrages and I know they definitely did not incur those charges because they were willing to negotiate. They also took forever to answer any email I would send them and the locks on the building were perpetually broken. These things would be minor if I was renting from a landlord in Iowa City for a cheap apartment. However, these apartments are more than 1000 dollars a month. The least 808 could do is treat their tenants with some respect. All these guys care about is taking money from their tenants wherever they can get it. Save your money that you were willing to spend on luxury and find yourself another place, its really not worth the hassle.

We live on the top floor and it's super quiet-- it feels like we don't have neighbors on both sides or underneath. You can only hear people sometimes in the hallway but that's only when you're standing close to your main apt door. This is very important to me since my daughter is a sensitive sleeper and has particularly sensitive hearing. Most of the tenants in the bldg are grad students or professionals so you get your peace and quiet-- not a rowdy atmosphere. The office staff is friendly but a specific shout out to Tyler and Aaron of maintenance who are not only incredibly nice, but always on point for questions and maintenance requests. I had a minor maintenance request submitted thru the portal and they came knocking about 15 minutes after I sent it. Tyler typically notifies and gives you updates if it will be more than 24 hours. We are moving soon because of a job relocation out of state and I'm already dreading leaving this nice complex especially the friendly and highly competent staff.

She will promise the heat works during the winter, it maintains a 47°f high is how it works. They don't answer maintenance requests. Mold gets removed after 2-4 maintenance requests. Most of the outlets don't work. If the outlet works it will trip the circuit board in someone else's apartment. You will request the other unit to let you into their apartment to reset your breaker. All around Nichole is terrible and rude. Nest is a slum lord apartment management company.

While the university claims it is on campus, that is a bit of a stretch although technically correct. West campus is a mile or so west of the main campus so it is not just a stroll to get from this new housing to the campus, but it is bike friendly except in winter. Even with this, the housing is nice. University officials saw the need for additional housing and this was the result. Every unit also has parking in the attached ground level lot. If you are looking for one- and two-bedroom housing and don't want to stay in one of the university residential dorms or get housing in the surrounding neighborhoods, Aspire on West Campus is a good bet. You'll have a little room to roam and be in relatively new digs. This place is also pet friendly for renters. Recommended.
