We don't get dosas in Hawaii and this is one of my sister's favorites. The breakfast dosa with egg was beautiful and savory with eggs, spinach, and avocado. The turkey dosa was so juicy and cheesy. You can select your choice of chutney. We had the peanut butter and curry. So many layers of flavor! You have to try the cardamom coffee . Serious wow factor. This is Sir Paul McCartney's favorite place to eat in the Hamptons. This is also my favorite place to eat in the Hamptons. Any place that works for a vegetarian Beatle works for me :-) You can't go wrong with the dosa crepes. I got the Breakfast Dosa Crepe stuffed with scrambled eggs, spinach, sun dried tomato, and avocado. The secret is always in the sauce, so be sure to pick the chutney condiments very carefully; they have a smorgasbord of chutney offerings here! I like East Hampton more than South Hampton and West Hampton because of the Hampton Chutney Company, the Naturopathica Spa, and the Loewe bag store. Had to drool at the Loewe Puzzle bag, in the Loewe store, which I like so much more than the Polene store in Manhattan (I find Polene handbags boring), but not as much as I love the Celine store in Paris (love my little black Celine Triomphe Classique bag, which was actually designed in California by Celine's current creative director, and not in France). My girlfriend and I absolutely love the curry chicken over rice! All of their chutney's are so good, my favorite is the mango.

First time trying dosas and it was delicious!!! I got the seasonal and added portobello mushrooms. The dosas are pretty big which is nice because you can share them. The dosa was light and tasty, the filling sadly was very monotone and whatever boxed spice they used really came across in a heavy aftertaste. The chutney- I ordered mango and paid extra for the cilantro. Again the flavors were lacking they both tasted as if the mango and cilantro were an after thought. We got the mushroom, pickled onion, spinach and goat cheese Dosa with the vegetarian Thali. I thought the thali would be in an actual steel thali with all the the usual accoutrements. Even with the issues we had with actually getting here (don't get me started), parking, and ordering, this place was still way worth it. Very tasty dosas in a very unlikely place. We stopped for a quick bite, got lucky with securing a decent table outside even though it was hella-crcowded (I say "hella" now), and enjoyed a great lunch, courtesy of Hampton Chutney. Such a cute place! We stopped here while on vacation for a late breakfast. We had to call in the order--apparently they have a location in New York City where you were able to order online, but for the Hamptons location you have to call in your order. Once we picked it up, we ate outside on a picnic bench. The cilantro chutney was delicious with my egg dosa. I had never had a dosa before, but it was huge! But since it was very thin it wasn't overly filling. They are gluten-free which is nice, but taste a little weird, kind of dry and bland, so the chutney is necessary to give it some flavor. But all together it was very good! I also got a hot chai tea with oat milk that was also yummy. If I lived here I would definitely come here regularly! read more

The food here is delicious. The problem is the staff. I've ordered take out from here several times. Each time, something was left off my order, ice cream, a lemonade. One time, they actually left off an entire meal. Thankfully, I checked the bag before I left!! When I told the woman at the register, she said she didn't hear me give that part of the order (it wasn't on the receipt either). I had already waited a while for the order and had to leave to pick up my children so I could not wait for the meal to be prepared. Hampton Chutney is absolutely top drawer place to eat or take out in East Hampton. I can't think of another place where I could even consider getting a Dosa up to the standards of this restaurant. It's a pleasant place with several tables outside to enjoy your order, or simply head off home or to a lovely spot. My favorite. I crave this all year long and would happily eat it every day. I always go with one of the dosas and purchase at least one extra chutney. The tomato goes great with the breakfast dosa and the peanut is an unexpected hit. I typically order in advance before I drive over so I don't have to wait in line and then wait for them to make it. Picnic tables outside get crowded but spots open up quickly and it's lovely spot to enjoy breakfast or lunch. read more

I think the dishes here are all fairly well priced at between $10-15. They have a lot of really great sounding dosas and the smaller pizza-like version that I can never remember the name of but starts with "u". I got the curry chicken "u" dish as well as the dosa "#5". Hampton Chutney is a little restaurant located at the Amagansett square. It is tiny with a couple tables inside and several pick nick tables outside. They main specialty is the dosa, a crepe-like wrap made of lentil and rice flour that has a tangy sourdough taste. You can choose from several fillings. I am not an Indian food fan but they do have combinations like goat cheese, chicken, spinach and tomatoes, that would please any palate. They have vegetarian options and all the dosas come with a choice of chutney. They have fresh juice and lassi, some choices of sandwiches and a bunch of cookies. So far my best meal in the Hamptons. Great food, terrible service. We ordered two dosas which are huge, you can share with two people! Also ordered the iced cardamom coffee which is absolutely delicious! The mango chutney is fresh and vibrant, and is delicious on a dosa. Aside from the lovely food, our experience went sour with the service. During Covid, you are supposed to call them by phone to place your order. We attempted to call about 10 times, and each time it said the line was busy. Out of frustration, I went up to the screen door and let them know about the phone, and if we could just place our order through the door NOT BY GOING INSIDE. Instead of assisting a paying customer, I was told "keep calling". I explained I called nearly 11 times, and was then told to order via post mates. I then informed them that I do not have post mates, and I was told that if I walk around the premises to call I might get a better signal. This is absolutely outrageous to me. No help, no assistance, just "your fault." Once my food was ready, they forgot the two drinks I had paid for, and gave me no plastic silverware or napkins. So nasty and rude, too bad their food is delicious. read more
