I've been going to Kong Chen for 14 years now and NEVER had a negative experience. The owners there are very friendly and happy to see you. Their food is always perfect and they will handle special requests as well (me, no broccoli). This combination dinners are amazing and the portions extremely generous. Fantastic staff and service. Food comes out quick and they give a ton of it. We ordered a variety of entrees from chow fun to tofu to general tso's chicken and beef with broccoli. All were pretty good. I thought the meat quality could have been slightly better quality given how much business they have. The staff is always so friendly and quick to answer a phone call when you're ordering take away. The turnaround is relatively fast. I think the longest that I've had to wait is 30 minutes for pick up. If you plan on stopping by I highly recommend getting the chicken wings with the house special fried rice. It's a great bang for your buck! This place is truly a Hampton bays staple and I'll be sure to keep going for years to come! read more

Wish I had better things to say about this take out spot - it's a small establishment with no seats. It looks family run and everyone is nice and polite. As for the food..the general tso's tofu was an inedible foamy texture and the sauce wasn't on point to the flavor I know for this dish. Boneless spare ribs looked good but were dry and flavorless. Kong Chen is a family run restaurant. The restaurant is clean and the owners work hard along with their staff preparing and cooking lunch and dinner every day except Mondays. I like this restaurant in particular because of the fact this is family owned and operated and I support this local restaurant for this reason. Plenty of food for the dollar. Despite ordering a few spicy items, there was a consistent lack of interesting flavor and in particular, spicy dishes were just not as expected. On the other hand, it seemed that this take out had used much less MSG and sugar than other restaurants, so probably healthier. The beef was sliced thin and dry... and was not yummy. I was not expecting much from this spot originally since I am spoiled with authentic Chinese dishes.
