In fact, I had a cleaning at Hampton Bays Dental Associates two months ago. Those cleanings were apparently ineptly done. In addition, I was given an estimate of $5,000 and told that the recommended work was necessary to my dental health. X-rays in Brooklyn this week indicated that none of the recommended work is indicated. Lastly, Dr. Sheren, the owner of the Hampton Bays practice, referred me to an oral surgeon to rule out tongue cancer. Fortunately, my Brooklyn dentist, after thoroughly examining my tongue, indicated that there was absolutely nothing on my tongue. He was puzzled that I was given such a referral.

On Monday morning at 8:15, I called the office # and was surprised that Dr. Nevins, himself, had answered the phone (sounded like he was in his car.) He told me to come in at noon that same day. After my consultation with him, he told me he could do the first part of the procedure that same day at 3pm. Since I work in Southampton, it was easy enough for me to go back to work for a few hours and then return to have the work done. Dr. Nevins and his staff are all so sweet, gentle and caring. Having had such a good first experience with Dr. Sanchez, I waited until I returned to LI to see Dr. Sanchez. He examined my x-rays and the tooth that my dentist had capped 6 weeks ago and also the adjoining teeth. He doubted that the capped one needed a root canal and after testing the adjoining teeth determined with reasonable certainty that one of them was the culprit due to a suspected hairline fracture and receding gumline which creates the opportunity for sensitivity. So this is the second time I was sent to him for possible root canal and the second time he advised against it. His opinion the first time turned out to be the correct course and I have no doubt that this one will be the same. I cannot recommend him enough for his friendliness, completely understandable diagnosis and plan for further wait and see. I have no doubt because of my experience with him and the other reviews that if I end up needing RC, he is the man! But the way the pain is diminishing I think he is correct and that the sensitivity will diminish over time. Do not hesitate to see him and his clean, modern office with all the latest hi tech equipment. He will only do the root canal if he is certain it is needed.

She explained what likely happened, along with an explanation of what the process would be, and treatment overall.
